…have sent him some birthday drawings…knut_melissa1kl

That one is from Melissa…

knut_kanthar2kl1And here an after- birthday- letter of Kanthar…

Most of you know that I do some teaching here on the island and whenever there is a possibility, I use Knut and polar bear related material to make them work on conjugations, adjectives, verbs, tenses…It started with my German classes but recently I have got some younger kids , primarily to practice English and French basic writing and grammar skills…

So, I couldn’t resist introducing them to our friend Knut and it was fun to watch them doing the drawings. We have now started on a little bear and geography project…to find out where Tosca came from, where to find polar bears and penguins and why they are threatened.

I just wanted to share these pics with you.

Find more drawings in the K-Files by clicking on the pics…And sure you will find Knut as well…

  2. Thank you Birgit for sharing these lovely drawrings with us! What a brilliant idea to use Knut and other polar bears to teach the children!

    Hugs from Mervi

  3. I have started to do so already very early…So to speak right from the beginning, after Knut had entered my life…In the beginning it was called : “Deutsch lernen mit Knut” and my students were young adults, already working. Some Knutians of the early stage of rbb Knut blog might remember…there had been quite a lot of references, also in SImba’s postings. I even tested them on Knut related questions, they had to answer me also for example who were Frau Schnatterliese, Julia and ChristinaM…:)) Sure, all in very good German…

Thank you,Mervi and Leaf, for your encouraging comments!

  4. Birgit — Thank you so much for sharing these birthday cards for Knuti with us. They are very special and artistic too. Knuti certainly has had a positive influence on the world! Lifting people’s spirits when they are feeling low and/or tired, helping teachers teach their students, helping students to learn, and just generally making people happy. And all because a certain keeper took the time to save and nurture a little polar bear.

    Bear hugs,
    Sarsam

  5. This is so uplifting and inspiring. I agree with Sarsam – Knut is having a positive influence on so many across the world because of Thomas and his devotion. These wonderful kids are going to grow up richer in spirit and more sensitive to the environment and more protective of the animals. They will be the ones to make a difference in the years to come. These are beautiful cards, wonderful kids and a very special teacher! Wow, What a winning combination.
