27.7.2009 – Updated with a video – Photos by Vladimir Romanovskii –  via Caren, captions by Celinne

Knuti’s Weekly Magazine has the great pleasure and honour to show you some photos of Raspi and his Russian family. We thank the Moscow Zoo for sending the photos. Thank you, Caren, for sharing them with us. Thank you, Celinne, for your fabulous captions. Our Russian bear friends – welcome to the worldwide polar bear community! Greetings from Mervi

Look people he’s the evil twin here, not me!

Murma honey! What on earth makes you think that Raspi’s big boomsie might have come from my side of the family?

Quick throw on a towel. If they catch us sunbathing in the nude again, we’ll get arrested. This isn’t the French Riviera you know.

Boys behave yourselves! I swear these kids are driving me to drink (hic).

You told momma I was substituting Vodka for baby formula didn’t you? It had to be you.

Since the birth of the boys, I’ve really let myself go. Look at these nails! I need a French manicure.

Shhh… the boys are asleep. Fancy a roll in the hay?

Oh Umca, you silver-tongued devil! Do you really think I still have that bikini-ready body?

  1. Caren, Celinne – Oh, this is just great! What wonderful photos of our Russian friends! Caren, you’re one in a million to bring these photos to us. Celinne, your captions are awesome! I’m so glad to welcome these bears to ‘our’ world!

    Hugs from Mervi

  2. Omg, this is so funny! Celinne, you forgot to mark the photos. How are we supposed to know which one is little Raspi?? Don’t you think it’s kinda important?
I’d like to know. One thing is for sure- Raspi had a handsome parent couple. He’s just an ugly duckling right now but judging by the looks of his mom and pop he’s gonna be a handsome polar man when he grows up.
Thank you for this article! BHs to you both. Leaf

  3. Halloo, Hallii!.

    So fantastische Fotos. Danke, Danke.
Ich besuchte auch Moscow Zoo Seiten. Vor einem Jahr war dort zwei Eisbärbabys : Mischa und Mascha???

Gibt es etwas zu tun mit Raspi?

Hat Raspi eine Schwester? Heisst Raspi urspruenglich Mischa?

    So suesse Eisbären,

  4. Caren — Thank you so much for getting these photos and sharing them with us! Celinne — very entertaining captions. Caren – did Moscow tell you which baby is which? I must say that mama and papa bear appear to be very well fed… :-)

    Bear hugs, Sarsam

  5. Hallo liebe Caren, liebe Celine und liebe Mervi,
    juhuhuhuh die Fotos aus Moskau.
Klasse, dass man die auf Knutitours sehen kann.
    Ich sagr’ nur “die Gene”…hihihihi.
    Vielen, lieben Dank!

  6. Dear Caren, many thanks for getting these baby pics of Raspi and brother. I think that everybody wil agree that they looked already well-filled at a very young age.
Dear Celinne, na na na, who is now the liable soul for his boomsie. To me, it looks as if both mommy and daddy are the proud owners of a real “coffre-fort”.

  7. Mervi -Thank you for having the Russian bears in the mix. Caren and I adore our Raspi and his Russian relatives.

Caren – Thanks for taking the time to access the priceless photos of Raspi’s clan. Moscow Zoo was very kind to send them along.

Leaf – I have no idea myself which one of the two small cubs is Raspi, but from what Caren says, he was the bigger, more aggressive twin brother. Look at the boomsies and facial expressions and you might be able to see the difference. Yes his parents are beautiful and very much in love. Look at how they are courting and flirting with each other even after the birth of the twins.

Patricia – Dunno! To me it looks like daddy Umca is the big boomsied one and Raspi is the split image of his
papa. Umca has a heavy-duty boomsie from any angle!

Sarsam – Nice way to avoid saying “chubby” – “well fed”! Now we know where Raspi gets appetite his physical attributes from…..that Umca is pushing two tons of boomsie. Is this legal??

    Celinne
you have done a great job. These nice photos are filled with live by your comments. You are the ideal PR-Manager for our Honey Raspi! Would you like to move to Nürnberg?

    MERVI-
I adore you and apreciate it very much that you are publishing even today after that violence which has happened at your house. Thank you Mervi, you are a significant part of AWT.

  12. Celinne, I think I know which one is Raspi. I am quite sure he is the one smiling straight at the camera in the first picture, and then in photo no 5, he’s the one on the right. The rest are hard to tell. He’s so adorable as a cub…
