Oh Happy Day with Flocke & Raspi (Updated Photos)

Als wir gegen 10:30 am Aquapark ankamen, eilten wir sofort zu Flocke’s und Raspi’s Gehege. Es war leer! Kein Eisbär weit und breit zu sehen. Doch dann sahen wir, dass die Bärchen in das große Gehege umgezogen waren. Von Vera war nichts zu sehen. Grund für diesen Umzug ist eine Baumassnahme. Die Metallstäbe zwischen den Glaswänden sind korrodiert und müssen erneuert werden. Vera muß leider im Stall bleiben, sie wird dort aber von den Pflegern beschäftigt, während sich Flocke und Raspi im großen Gehege vergnügen.
We arrived at 10:30 at Aquapark and hurried to Flocke’s and Raspi’s enclosure. It was empty! No polarbear to be seen. But then we realized that the young bears have moved into the big enclosure. Vera was not to be seen. The reason for this move is a building measure. The metal grid between the glass panels were corrosive and have to be replaced. Unfortunately, Vera has to stay in the inner enclosure, however, she is kept busy by the keepers, while Flocke and Raspi have joy and fun in the big enclosure.
Flocke war im Wasser und schlug mit den Tatzen auf das Wasser, es sah aus, als würde sie einen Whirlpool vorbereiten. Raspi war mit einem großen Reifen beschäftigt. Dann trafen sie im Wasser zusammen und es fand ein sehr freundschaftlicher Schaukampf statt, bei dem Flocke durchaus punkten konnte. Dieser muss Raspi sehr ermüdet haben, er ging erst einmal an Land und machte ein Nickerchen, während sich Flocke mit Wasserspielen vergnügte.
Flocke was playing in the water and hit her paws on the water surface so that we had the impression she was preparing a whirl pool. Raspi was busy with his big tyre. When they got together in the water they started a very friendly showfight, in which Flocke collected a lot of points. These activities must have made Raspi very tired, he lay on the grass napping while Flocke enjoyed her watergames.

Ihr Nachmittags-Snack bestand aus ein paar Fischen und zwei Hühnern. Flocke angelte sich gleich mal das Huhn, um es zu rupfen und genüsslich zu verspeisen, während sich Raspi an den Fischen gütlich hielt. Er spielte mit dem Huhn, frass es aber nicht; Flocke nutzte die Gunst der Stunde und machte Jagd auf das Huhn. Kurze Zeit später verschwand sie damit aus der Reichweite Raspis und frass auch das zweite Huhn.
The aftern0on-snack consisted of some fish and two chickens. Flocke got hold of one of them and started pulling up to eat it then with pleasure, while Raspi enjoyed the fish meal. He played with the chicken but did not eat it. Flocke improved the shining hour to catch it. Immediately she disappeared to get out of reach from Raspi and ate the second chicken as well.

After the snack both bears felt like cuddling for a while.

Später spielte Raspi ‘Schattenboxen‘ mit einem grossen blauen Kanister. Seine Box-Künste waren nicht schlecht. Flocke spielte derweil mit einem kleinen Kanister an dem Springbrunnen auf der mittleren Insel. Dann widmete sie sich den Bäumen und schubberte sich am Baumstamm. Nach dieser Massage war sie mit braunem ‚Make-Up‘ bedeckt, dann began sie mit einer Art Aromatherapie, indem sie ihre Nase in die Tannenzweige hielt und die ätherischen Öle schnupperte.
Later, Raspi played ‘shadow-boxing’. His abilities were not bad at all. Flocke played with a small can near the fountain on the central isle. Then Flocke went to the trees and scraped herself against the trunk. After that massage she was covered with darkbrown ‘make-up’, then she started ‘aromatherapy’ while holding her head into the fir branches to smell the essential oils.

Nach dem spielereichen Nachmittag wurden beide müde und suchten sich einen Schlafplatz. Flocke ganz links und Raspi ganz rechts des Geheges.
After that busy and playful day they got tired and went to sleep. Flocke found her place in the very left and Raspi in the very right corner of the big enclosure.
Raspi, schläfst Du schon? / Raspi are you sleeping?
Nein, Flocke, aber ich bin soooo müde / No I don’t, but I am soooo tired

What a delightful report from Nuremberg! It’s so heart warming to seeFlocke and Raspi playing together. The ‘kissing couple’ is simply adorable! A romantic fool like me is in seventh heaven after watching the beautiful pictures. I hope we’ll soon see something similar in Berlin.

Deine Bilder sind wundervoll, und die knutschenden FloRa-Kinder sind total süüüüß.
Ich habe heute Mittag erst angefangen, Bilder zu sortieren.
Flocke und Raspi sind ein tolles Teenagerpaar!
Hühnchen rupfen ist ja nicht grade Raspis Ding, da kann er sich bei Flocke schon noch ‘ne Scheibe abschneiden, gell. Aber Flocke’s zwei Tatzen-Wirlpoolattacke ist einfach gigantisch!

One of my joys in life is Raspi and seeing him here so happy with Flocke makes me smile. He’s getting to be so big…look at his front paws…awesome! Flocke is still too small but she seems healthy enough. She’s such a pretty bear. You bring so much joy to us Caren with your incredible reports that capture the spirit of our beloved bears. Like everyone else I am hoping to see the same kind of love and friendship blossom between Knut and Gio.
I loved this report and the photos Caren. I needed this after my prolonged worry about Gio not eating. It would be interesting to know how Raspi and Gio would have gotten along had they been matched. Food for thought….

Dear Caren, many thanks for your great report and super pics. It is always such a pleasure to read about the activities (together or alone) of these two young bears. And another funny thing, they seem to have their own preferences for food!! So so, our Flocke-Madammeken likes chicken whereas Raspi-Patatje will rather go for fish. Anyhow, they both look gorgeous and very healthy.
I wish for you that you will soon receive decent news about Lisa and Yogli. And maybe (well,a ctually most probably), one of these days, Gianna will make her “Berliner Debute”.

die Fotogalerien “Friendly Games” sind sehr schön, man konnte den Tag einfach noch mal erleben. Davon kann man NIE genug bekommen. Es war wieder ein wirklich wundervoller Tag bei Flocke und Raspi und es ist auch mit Euch Allen immer wieder ein Ereignis!

Flocke and Raspi are such a cute couple, and some of these photos are so adorable. They show just how much the bears love each other, and how well they get along. It would be a tragedy if they were to be separated. I hope that never happens.

ich möchte mich bei Euch recht herzlich für Eure netten Kommentare bedanken. Es freut mich immer sehr, dass das Interesse von den’ Knutianern’ an Flocke und Raspi so gross ist.
Inzwischen sind die Bärenkinder wieder in ihrem kleinen Gehege. Insbesondere Flocke hat die Glasscheibe zu den Besuchern sehr vermisst, und sie freut sich immer wieder an dem nahen Kontakt zu ihren zweibeinigen Freunden. Vera ist auch glückich, wieder im Aussengehege zu sein.

I would like to thank you so much for your kind comments. It is always a great pleasure for me to know that the Knutians’ interest for Flocke and Raspi is so great.
Meanwhile the two bears are back in their small enclosure. Especiallly Flocke has missed the glass panel and she is happy again to have close contact to her two-legged friends. Vera is also happy again to be in the outer enclosure.

Raspi absolvierte ein tolles Box-Training. Er hat wohl eine bessere Linke und das in Deckung gehen beherrscht er auch schon sehr gut!
Das Training hast Du wunderbär festgehalten!
Mal sehen ob sich nicht doch noch ein bekannnter Box-Stall sich meldet , um Rasputin unter Vertrag zu nehmen!!!!!
