26.10.2009 – Source Hartmuth’s forum, Photos by Monika and Sylvia Micky

After last week’s sad news we all needed something to cheer us up and oh boy, what happy news Knuti and Gianna delivered! I must confess I’m green of envy to all those who could witness our teenagers playing together. Luckily Monika and SylviaMicky were equipped with their cameras so there are lots of wonderful photos. Ja, das war heute Vormittag schon sehr aufregend. Knut und Gianna lagen heute Morgen schon sehr dicht zusammen. Gianna machte 2 Annäherungsversuhe und Knut blieb liegen. Gegen Mittag animierte dann Knut Gianna zum spielen. Sie haben wirklich gute 10 Minuten ununterbrochen mieinander gespielt, sich zärtlich in den Nacken gebissen. Knut hob öfters einladend die Pfote um Gianna zum spielen aufzufordern.

Normalerweise hört man ja dann am Gehege ein ah und oh, aber diesmal war die Stimmung etwas ganz Besonderes. Es haben sich in kürzester Zeit sehr viele Besucher am Gehege versammelt um das Treiben zuzusehen, und es war eine ungewohnte Stille. Alles schaute gebannt und glücklich zu. Als Gianna dann schließlich genug hatte, ließ sie Knut einfach stehen und legte sich unter den Baum.

Es war wirklich sehr schön anzusehen. Knut hat keine Tapirlippe gehabt und sah auch beim spielen sehr entspannt aus. Er strotzte nur so voll Selbstvertrauen.

    My Knuti pie, finally!
    This is the best news, my heart is so warm and making me feel so happy! These photos are close to paradise.
    I knew our Knuti would come around and realize he’s no longer alone, and now he has someone to love and love him back.
    I am so happy for you Knuti pie! And thank you for these beautiful photos Sylvia and Monica!

    Well, finally a happy end… I am glad that Knut finally lost his shyness and now is able to interact with another polar bear… And a good news was urgently needed for german polar bears.

    Diese besondere Stimmung kommt auch in den Bildern rüber, wirklich toll die Beiden – vor allem wenn man bedenkt, wie scheu und ängstlich alles begann. Großes Lob an Sylvia und Monika für diese Fotos! Es wird doch mit Knut und Gio – einfach nur schön.

    Gianna: Maybe if I close my eyes and loft my snout, this guy will kiss me. What is he waiting for? I’ve given him all my yes / go signals.

    Knut: I’m still not so sure what to do exactly. I wish Daddy were here to talk to. But Gia sure has a pretty mouth. I think I’m attracted to her ~ all of her.

    Interesting to see that Knut remembers he has adoring fans not to be forgotten with a paw wave.

    I’m so happy these 2 are coming together. It will just take some more time and patience.
