Ewa’s special day in Orsa

Ewa’s birthday started already at 07.30 this morning when a very tired bear was wakened up with a birthday song. Since the local radio was sending live from the Polar World Ewa very politely came to the fence to meet the visitors. Of course, she was very curious, too.
We served her a hearty breakfast – sandwiches with fish liver oil and then the reporter from the radio asked a lot of questions. I helped Ewa with the answers…
This time of year it’s very dark in Orsa and ususally Ewa don’t get up until about 9 o’clock. After the breakfast Ewa thought it was time for a nap. Wilbär came and laid beside her and the two bears were sleeping in a live radio program 
When it became lighter the bears became more active – they played again with the blue barrels until it was time to bring in the cakes! We had decided to make two cakes – one for Ewa, one for Wilbär -so there wouldn’t be any fight on Ewa’s special day. The cakes were made of knäckebröd and stuffed with bread, fish liver oil and salmon. On the top a layer of pumpkins and a half coconut filled with fish liver oil – Ewa’s great passion.
Ewa loved the cake….
…and so did Wilbär!
Both Ewa and Wilbär love to play with cardboard boxes so we filled a big box with yammy things and wrapped it in paper with polar bears on -what else…. We tied up the box with cola flavoured strings – you know those candy ribbons. The box was very much appreciated!
After the cakes were eaten and the box opened Ewa and Wilbär had ‘siesta’ in the snow heap – they were hugging and kissing! Wilbär really behaved like a gentleman today. He let Ewa choose the cake first! They really are the best friends!
All the visitors were treated with soft drinks and cookies and the children got balloons, too. Ewa and Wilbär were very interested in the balloons but we didn’t give them any because they might have got frightened if a balloon had cracked – which it most probably would have done….
It was a great day for us all. Now I continue moving my office nearer the bears’ enclosure. What could be a better place for an office. I think I have the best job in the world!

Dear Mervi and Pernilla
I love it, I simply love it how the bers get along with each other and how they are treated and cared for in Orsa. This is just WONDERFUL. I am very happy that Wilbär won the Jackpot with Orsa and with Ewa.

Dear Pernilla, you DO have the best job in the world! I am so jealous. To have an office overlooking Ewa and Wilbar’s beautiful paradise and just look at them playing together or just sleeping is such a gift.

Baloons definitely are not a good idea, and I worry about the wrapping paper- I hope they don’t try to eat it.

Dear Pernilla, thank you so much for keeping us updated on the two young bears in general and now on this special day for Ewa. Na, the girl made a rather long way to find her luck and i am so glad that she found it with Wilbar and you and your colleagues in Orsa. I must confess that in the beginning when Wilbar moved to your place, I was a bit scared that we no longer would receive news from him, but WAW, that was a serious mistake. You are doing a great job and as you may well have noticed, not only for the fans in germany, but actually worldwide !!!! And even though I am a tad jealous for not having such a job like you or not even having such an office closeby them, I am grateful that you have it. You deserve it for all the joy you are bringing us.
