G’schmälzter, äh, geschmolzener Eisbär – Melted Ice Bear

In schwäbisch “geschmälzt” means “fryed with onions” but this word looks very much alike to “geschmolzen” which means melted; in fact newcomers in Suebia often wonder how one could “melt” maultaschen [some kind of suebian ravioli but different]).
Corinna and Anton speak, of course, Schwäbisch but I have translated the text into official German and English. Corinna also has a charming Danish accent but that was too hard to write down…
Anton: Was ist denn jetzt schon wieder… Kann Bär nicht einmal Ruhe haben für seinen Mittagsschlaf
Oh no, what’s going on… Can’t bear have some rest for his midday nap
Corinna: Anton, Schätzchen, willst du nicht ein bisschen….
Anton: Höh? was soll ich wollen?
Corinna: Anton, sweetheart, don’t you want a little bit…
Anton: Whud? What schall I want?
Corinna: … mich an dich ankuscheln lassen…
Anton: Geh weg, lass mir meine Ruhe
Corinna: …let me snuggle up to you…
Anton: Go away, leave me alone
Corinna: Bloss ein bisschen…
Anton: Oh Herr im Himmel *)Pfotenote, nicht schon wieder
Corinna: Just a little bit….
Anton: Oh Lord *)pawnote, not again
*)Pfotenote/pawnote: Das “liebe Hergöttle von Biberach” ist ein im Schwäbischen weit verbreiteter Stoss-Seufzer/Ausruf. Es ist allerdings in Wirklichkeit das “eingemeindete” Herrgöttle von Biberbach (im nördlichen Landkreis Augsburg) und befindet sich als vielbesuchtes Gnadenbild in der dortigen Wallfahrtskirche.
Anton sighs to the “Little Lord of Biberach” which is a popular heartfelt groan in the land of Württemberg. Acutally it’s the Little Lord of Biberbach (near Augsburg) where it is a well-visited saint stature within the local pilgrims’ church.
Corinna: Aber ich möchte gern
Anton: Nein!
Corinna: Anton, jetzt sei doch nicht so missmutig
Anton: *grummelt*
Corinna: But I want to
Anton: No!
Corinna: Anton, don’t be so gruffy
Anton: *mutters*
Anton: Nein!!
Corinna: Antooon
Anton: Ich will nicht
Anton: No!!
Corinna: Antooon
Anton: I do not want to
Corinna: Sonst bist du doch auch nicht so
Anton: Heute schon
Corinna: Du bekommst auch nachher von meinen Karotten welche ab
Anton: Karotten! Da fällt mir nichts mehr ein
Corinna: C’me on, usually you aren’t like this
Anton: Today I am
Corinna: I’ll let you have some of my carrots later
Anton: Carrots! I’m out of my wits
Anton: Also gut, von mir aus, dann mach eben.
Anton: *sigh* Okay go on
Anton: Fein, fein
Anton: It’s not that bad (means “verry nice”)
Corinna: Und? Gut?
Anton: Nicht schlecht (heisst “sehr gut”)
Corinna: And? Good? (means “did you like it?”)
Anton: Not so bad (means “I liked it very much”)
Corinna: Ich krieg immer, was ich will!
Anton: Die kriegt immer, was sie will…. – …. und ich krieg Karotten….. – …..aber ohne die Frau wär’s auch nichts.
Corinna: *snicker* This Girl Gets What this Girl Wants!
Anton: This Girl Gets What this Girl Wants!…. – …. and I get carrots….. – …. but without the old gal this wouldn’t be a live either

Aber hat denn der Anton sei Gelleriaba dann auch bekommen?
Er ist ja wirklich ein Ruhepol und genießt es sehr, wenn Corinna ihn so liab bittet, am Ohr zu schlabbern,
Sie macht es auchso sanft, da könnte man stundenlang zusehen.

Just delightful, funny, and very, very sweet! They are such a charming couple! However, it would be nice if she switched ears from time to time, but she seems to find his right ear the most succulent!

Super gemacht, liebe Velvet. Das hast Du spitzenmäßig hingekriegt. Ist ja wirklich nicht gerade leicht. Ich würde das nicht schaffen. Du hast mir damit eine doppelte Freude gemacht, einmal mit der netten Geschichte an sich, die sehr viel sehr Typisches enthält und einmal mit dem autentischen Dialekt. Bisch a Käppsele! Dange! Mir fällt bei solchen Sachen immer auf, wie “verdreht” doch Dialekte sein können und ich wundere mich, dass ich selbst nach Jahrzehnten (fast) alles noch mühelos verstehe, es allerdings nicht so perfekt schreiben könnte wie Du. Jensens Bilder sind natürlich ein klasse Nährboden fürs Bilder-Gschichdle. Danke also auch Dir, lieber Jens.
