Happy Birthday, Oma Lisa!

The polar bears’ birthdays are like a string of pearls – there’s a birthday almost every day this time of the year. Knuti’s Weekly wishes all the bears a long and happy life. We can’t make specials for every bear but Oma Lisa really deserves all the attention she can get! Greetings from Mervi
Oma Lisa´s Geburtstag
- Sehr geheerhte Frau Oma Lisa
- Bitte, nur Oma Lisa. Ich liebe Oma zu sein.
- Danke Oma Lisa. Zuerst herzliche Gratulations von allen Eisbärfreunden/-innen und von alle Knutianer.
- Danke. Es freut mich säähr.
- Darf ich fragen, wie feiern Sie diesen besonderen Tag?
- Bitte Du sagen. Ich bin alt aber ich denke modern. Meine liebe Enkel Knut mit seinen Freundinnen und seinem Freund haben allerlei organisiert. Eigentlich wollte ich gar nicht feiern, aber der lieber Knut sagte ” Liebe Oma, wir feiern immer so gerne”
Am Morgen brachte Herr Postman mir eine nette Karte von Wuppertal. Mein lieber Sohn Lars schickte sie mir. Ich weiss es nicht, soll ich dies erzählen. Meine nette Schwiegertochter Tosca will unbedingt mich besuchen und gratulieren. Du weisst ja, dass zuerst Lars drei Frauen hatte und nun eine neue Frau. Huhuh. Es geschieht auch allerlei in besseren Familien. Also ich telefonierte an meinem Sohn Lars. Es wäre besser, dass er nicht zu mir an meinem Ehrentag kommt. Ich hasse Familienstreiten.
- Sie haben gesundliche Problemen gehabt. Wie geht es mit Dir jetzt?
- Du junge Frau. Wenn Du einmal so alt bist wie ich jetzt, dann verstehtst Du.
Tabletten, gesund essen, bewegen, nicht rauchen, kein Alcohol, keine Eisbärmänner. Alles lustiges ist verboten.
- Wie gefällt Dir Bärlin.
- Redlich zu sein.Ich habe sooo viäl Sähnsucht nach Muenchen. Als ich jung war, war ich sehr neugierig. Alles Neues, Museen, Gallerien, Warenhäuser, Theater zu sehen. Nix määhr.
- Bitte, Du Frau Teddybärenmutti. Ich bin muede. Ich will mein Nähmittag´s Nickärchen nähmen. Mein lieber Knutchen will mir Bärlin´s Sehenswuerdigkteiten am Abend zeigen. Suesse Frl. Flocke und nette Signorina Gianna wollte mit mir ins KaDeWe gehen. Dazu sagte ich “absolut NEIN”. Meine Schränken sind zu voll. Ääh und Knutis Auto ist so niedrig.
- Bitte, noch eine Frage. Welche sind Deine Zukunftsplänen?
- Ach, du liebe. In meinem Alter gibt es nicht mehr viele Plänen. Ich will zurueck nach Muenchen. Dort ist mein liebevolles Personal. Hmmmpff. Vielleicht etwas………….
Ich wollte so gern Knut´s und Flocke´s Hochzeit erleben.
- Danke. Nochmals Alles Knutes, viel Glueck, viel Gesundheit, viele glueckliche Jahren.
I wish Oma Lisa happy Birthday and also to all the other bears who has this days they birthdays (even I am born in november).
But, I have sad news from Swizerland. Yesterday a mad man jumped in the bear park in Bern and run to the brown bear named Finn. The bear attacked the man and a police man shot at him. Now the man is getting better but the zoo director does’nt know how is the bear. I think Berni in Berlin has been born in Bern CH. Now, just about one month ago the bears, Björk and Finn, had got a new modern enclosure called bear park which had about 23 mio swissfrancs buildingcosts but is very popular because it’s much better for the animals as the old “Bärengraben” and now this sad happening.

Dear Oma LISA, this time I am amongst one of the first to bring you all my best wishes for your birthday. And my sweetest Grandma Lisa, certain things indeed do happen in the best families, but I think that in any event you may be proud of your son Lars. At least he gave you a wonderful and nice grandchild. And I fully understand that you wish to go back to Munich soon. Ah well, maybe that will happen one day. But before that day comes, please take sufficient rest, eat enough, gain new strenght, do whatever possible to become fit to make that journey. But …. if that day comes, I know a nice auntie who will be standing at your brand new built enclosure to welcome you with open arms and on that day, she will cry tears of pure joy for having you bakc (even though she might fear that adventure at this moment for you).
My dearest TBM, as I already wrote before, we are BLESSED for having you. You are the one who is having the key to every polar bear’s heart, to open it and to let us all participate in that pleasure. THANK YOU.
Dear Sirpa, on another point now, may I please ask you to keep us informed about the results of this awful story? When I was reading your sad news about Finn, it reminded me of another story that happened this year in a Swiss zoo (sorry, cannot remember the name of the zoo), where a mad person scared a brown bear with her cubs. And while the zoo was so proud and happy about mother and children and that they all came finally out of the den, they ran back and haven’t been seen for quite a while. I am now wondering whether you have some more news about that too. And it makes me so furious that when a zoo is making so many efforts to improve the living environment of their animals – whether bears or elephants or birds or fishes – all these efforts are damaged – for not saying ruined – by one single fool. And the saddest thing of all is that the zoos wherever on earth do not have any protection against this kind of people. But please, dear Sirpa, keep us informed, whether here in KWM or in The Knuipe. You will be most welcome there.

Dear Knutians
Today afternoon the news told that the bear Finn in Bern is feeling better, yesterday he started to eat but could’nt move, now he was staying but it is’nt sure how it goes because an operation is impossible so long he is too weak for anaesthetic and he’s got many small lead parts inside . As a mad man jumped saturday into his enclousure and Finn attacked him the police shot him with “man-stop” lead bullets. Now many people has writen greetings to Finn and brougt him honey pots. He gets medicine in honey and antibiotics with shots for his pains. Also the best medical doctors or veterinary surgeons of university Bern are observing him. I really hope he is getting better. Finn is a bear from Finland and now about four years old. I reed also that Finn and Björk should get next time babies.

Is that beer that Raspi is guzzling from the blue barrel…or worse…is that Gia imbibing beer? Is Gia boozing now? Oh dear I hope not, she is not related to Raspi and has no stress with Knut so why is the good girl boozing? If I am wrong, please correct me.
