Happy Birthday, Dear Flocke

Heute ist Flocke’s Geburtstag. Wie alt sie geworden ist, darf ich Euch ja nicht verraten. Steffi und Petra haben mir gesagt, das Alter ist bei Mädchen tabu.Es war gar nicht so einfach herauszufinden, was ich Flocke zum Geburtstag schenken soll. Warum sind Mädchen nur immer so schwierig? Oh Mann, ich werde ihr aber einen ganz speziellen Geburtstag ausrichten.
Today it is Flocke’s birthday. I may not tell you how old Flocke is now. Steffi and Petra told me, the girls’ age is taboo. It was not so easy to find out what I could give Flocke as a Birthday present. Why are girls always so difficult? Oh, boy, I am going to make a special birthday for Flocke.
So führt mich mein erster Weg in den Blumenladen. Aber welche Blumen mag sie wohl am liebsten? Warum sind Mädchen nur immer so schwierig? Ich werde ihr alle Blumen aus dem Laden kaufen, das wird das Beste sein und man kann so nichts falsch machen! ABER ES IST TEUER !!!
My first way leads me into a flowershop. But which flowers does she like? Why are girls always so difficult? I am going to buy the whole shop, yes, that will be best without making any mistakes! ABER ES IST TEUER !!!
Mädchen sind immer so erpicht auf Schönheit. Flocke ist wunderschön, aber zu ihrem Geburtstag darf sie mal in Rosenblättern baden und dabei ihre Geburtstagstorte ganz allein essen. Für Flocke soll es nur Rosen regnen. Hoffentlich stört das unsere Pfleger nicht!
Girls are very keen on beauty. Flocke IS beautiful, but on her birthday she may take a bath in roses and there she can enjoy her birthday cake on her own. For Flocke it should only rain roses. I hope our keepers won’t mind!
So und nun kommt das Wichtigste. Ich habe ein Fahrzeug besorgt (ich habe sehr gute Beziehungen im TG Nuernberg). Wenn wir einen Platten bekommen, macht das gar nichts. Ihr wißt ja, wer hier der Reifenspezialist ist. Ich werde mit unserem Geburtstagskind und mit Mama Vera einen Ausflug mit einem Picknick machen. Darüber freut sich Flöckchen ganz bestimmt, denn ich habe das Vehikel mit allem beladen, was Flocke wichtig ist.
Well, now the most important comes. I have organized a vehicle (I have very good relations within TG Nuremberg) If we have a flat tyre, it doesn’t matter. You all know who is the tyre expert! I will go for a trip with a picnic with our birthdaygirl Flocke and Mom Vera. Flöckchen will be delighted as I loaded the vehicle with all which important for Flocke.
In unserem Tiergarten ist schon alles sehr schön weihnachtlich geschmückt. Ich muss Flocke den wunderschönen Weihnachtsbaum zeigen, sie wird begeistert sein. Hoffentlich will sie nicht schon heute die ganzen Päckchen auspacken, die sind nämlich nicht für ihren Geburtstag bestimmt, sondern für Weihnachten!
In our Tiergarten everything has been decorated so niccely for Christmas. I will show Flocke the beautiful Christmas Tree and she will be enthusiastic about it. I hope she is not going to unpack all the presents, as they are for Christmas, not for her birthday.
Flocke zu Ehren gebe ich ein romantisches Konzert bei Sonnenuntergang. Mama Vera war von der Idee ganz begeistert. Flocke liebt Musik. Ich auch, aber ich mache lieber Musik als dass ich zuhöre. Leider pfeift der Dudelsack aus dem letzten Loch, deshalb habe ich mich für die gute alte Wandergitarre entschieden. Ihr wisst ja, ich bin ein Multitalent, nicht wahr? Was ich dazu singe? Natürlich Sunset Rock&Blues.
I will give a romantic concert for Flocke during sunset. Mom Vera is very happy about this idea. Flocke loves music. Me too, but I rather prefer making music instead of just listening. Unfortunately the sackpipe doesn’t well so I decided to take the good old guitar. You know I am a multitalented polar bear, don’t you? What I am going to sing? Of course, Sunset Rock&Blues?

auch im Ausrichten von Geburtstagen ist unser Raspi ein Multitalent. Was der sich alles ausgedacht hat, für die Feier morgen. Sogar an Flockes rosa Tasche hat er gedacht, damit sie beim Picknick ihre Utensilien dabei hat. Er hat wirklich keine Kosten und Mühen gespart, um seiner Flocke einen schönen Tag zu arrangieren.
Vielen Dank für Deine schönen Collagen, sie anzuschauen hat wieder sähr viel Spaß gemacht.

It looks like you are taking care of every detail like a perfect gentleman. My dearest little sweetest Flocke-Madammeken,
And so, you are now TWO YEARS old, WAW, Happy birthday.
When I read the request from your B(ea)R-Online Auntie Samantha to submit a photo, collage or whatever other piece of art, I was a tad embarrassed since I am not so good in such things and furthermore, I have no private pics of you. Therefore, I started to think about what I could do to bring you a special birthday wish. And so, I went back in my memories.
The first time that I heard/read from you was in a Belgian newspaper with a photo of you and your mommy Vera, at the moment she brought you out of the birth cave. Luckily, there were smart people reacting immediately to take over the care from mommy and who brought you in a warm and safe place where you could develop your forces (albeit not silently according to the videos I saw). Your first nicknames were weisswurst, stinkbombe (or something like that in German) and Flocke. And then came the day that they had to decide on your final name. It goes without saying that I was also having a preference. At that time, I was not having yet a computer of my own. And so it came that on that Saturday evening, I went straight to my neighbours to ask them (well, more or less order them) to start their computer and then I discovered that your name was FLOCKE (in Knuts blog, it was mentioned in capitals SIE HEISST FLOCKE !!!!, with a joyful message from Knut that you were so “winzig” that you would run forlorn in his “Fell” and that he has never been soooo small, no way !!, na ja …). I remember that I started to jump around and laugh. I am afraid that at that moment, my neighbours knew for sure that I was definitely and totally lost for the future of mankind. But most of all, I was lost in a love for this little white ice princess.
We, the humans worldwide, were then having the pleasure and most of all the honor of being the direct witnesses to follow your growing up and your learning process. And we were all proud of you. Whatever challenge came your path, you were able to take the hurdle and to learn. Every day, one of the first things I did in the office was searching for your latest pics (and sometimes, I got serious troubles because of that but I refused to give up!!). And then the day came that a young Russian prince came along to spend so-called a few months with you to learn you to become a “real” polar bear girl and to teach you the language of the polar bear. And again, you managed that all. Much to the joy and pleasure of your fans and photo aunties, who never failed to keep us updated about these progresses.
At this very moment, there are of course more polar bear couples having good contacts, but actually, there are only three formed by youngsters of which there is one who is not steady. Namely, Wilbar and Ewa (fine to see them together), Knut and Gianna (nobody knows what their future will bring) and then you and Raspi. And now, the two of you are at the eve of a new challenge and adventure. Within a few months, you both will move to another new brave world.
And I wish from the bottom of my heart and soul that you will become very happy there and that there will be other people who keeps us informed about your future and developments.
I also want to take hereby the opportunity to thank all people who has published reports and shared photos (and even poems) of their “close encounters” with you and Raspi.
And to end, I want to bring you a Dutch salute “LANG LEVE FLOCKE !!! HIEP HIEP HIEP HOERA !!

Liebe Caren, Flockes Geburtstagsspecial…ja da war ich sprachlos und konnte deswegen gar nichts dazu schreiben…haha!
Spaß beiseite, die Collagen sind so einfallsreich und liebevoll gestaltet, dass ich mich nur gefreut habe -Elmar hat sie auch angeguckt und klatscht natürlich auch seinen Beifall dazu! Zeit zum Schreiben hatte ich keine – warum nur??? Vorweihnachtszeit …?
