Santa and I share a secret….

12.12.2009 – By Knut, Photos by Doris Webb, Monika and SylviaMicky

There have been so many birthday parties that I almost forgot to make plans for Christmas. I’ve been trying to convince La Donna that we must start decorating our enclosure. We need, of course, a Christmas tree, candles and flowers – especially mistle toes, hihiii….

I hope Gianna will be the ‘Putzteufel’ and clean the enclosure so we can start decorating it.

C’mon Gianna – we’d better hurry to the Christmas Market….

Stop looking at the mirror! I know you’re making yourself presentable and soon you’ll be flirting with Jürgen again. Don’t you know he’s already spoken for??

Now she’s angry at me but a bear’s got to say what a bear’s got to say!

Come up and make yourself useful. You could bake me a Knutstollen for instance!

Will you finally stop flirting with Jürgen! We’ve got things to do.

Hehehe…. sometimes she’s really sweet…. I wonder what I will give her as Christmas present. She’s a lady with a very healthy appetite so it must be something eatable. Maybe a pumpkin designed by Armani ….

Gianna, listen very carefully! I have written to Santa Claus but you can give  me presents as well. You should know by now what I want. A growing bear needs lots of calories so a couple of salmons, a few croissants and decent meat would be perfect.

Dear Knut – you are always so kind to me …. but you don’t have to buy me presents – just lend me your credit card.

She can have my credit card but when she starts telling me where our Christmas tree will stand….

I’m still the King of this enclosure and I decide where the tree will stand! END OF DISCUSSION!

Pst…come closer, I’ll tell you something I don’t want La Donna to hear. I have an agreement with Herr Santa Claus. He has told La Donna that he’ll be leaving our presents at the Lion Gate but only he and I know my presents will be left at the Elephant Gate! I don’t take any risks…. Feel free to call me clever!

Oh, this Christmas season is such a busy time but I hope you don’t overdo it. After all, the most important thing is that we all have a peaceful, merry Christmas! Enjoy the candle light with your love ones!

Greetings from your pal Knuti

  1. - a bear’s got to say what a bear’s got to say!
    - Dear Knuti, you are so right. But when you have such a Bella Donna in your enclosure, please say it more gentle, hm?
    - although you are the KING of the ENCLOSURE, please decide together with Giovanna about the right place of the Christmas Tree!
    - you hand her over the credit card, this is really a very generous attitude.
    - I am convinced Giovanna will bake you a Knutstollen. And Gio will be delighted by a pumpkin by Armani

Dear Mervi – you have made a very nice story out of these pics, it reflects just real life! I saw similar scenes today in Nuremberg, although there is no Jürgen!
Thanks for the hilarious story, it is so entertaining!
    Hugs from caren

  3. hallo mervi,

  4. Dear Knuti, watch out, there is a special mommy looking over Gianna (pssst, it is a secret between the two of us, but this mommy’s name is Caren) so you better watch out while behaving like a macho. So maybe, give it another try and let Gianna participate in choosing the right place for the Christmas tree. And then most probably, Caren will give you her credit card for buying presents (she is by now already used to the circumstances and needs of young male polar bears).
And by the way, don’t worry about Jurgen. At this moment, he is only a lonesome fellow without his beloved wife (who is very busy to entertain their little demon child!!).

  5. Dear Knuti,
Well, buddy…I guess you take with good with the not-so-good in a relationship…the key word is
compromise…isn’t it….you’re doing a splendid job, dear boy…Merry Christmas to you and your lady, La Bella Gianna…
    xo Tante Judy

  6. Dear Knut,

Your Tante Judy has said it all, Knut–the key word is compromise! There is an old country song in which the man says that “he is going to wear the pants in this family” and the woman says “and I’ll tell you which pair to wear.” Perhaps this is true for you and Gianna??? :-) )

Thank you Mervi, you’ve done a splendid job again–very enjoyable!

    Hugs from Sarsam

  7. Hallo Friends –

Is it my imagination or is Knuti applying less make-up these days? My guess is that his attention is focused 24/7 on La Bella Gia that he now has little time for other pursuits in which he used to engage, i.e., slathering on mud…

Then there’s the matter of eyeing his lovely enclosure mate. He does a lot of that, along with sporting a slack-jaw, the pouty lower lip, the exposed tongue — all preparatory for a possible lip-lock encounter with the Bella Gia.

Gia, on the other hand, looks like she likes to spend a lot of time in the ‘jacuzzi.’

Silvia Mickey has caught Knut enjoying the advances of La Bella –blush, blush– I believe that there is even a smile on those bear lips!

Both bears seem to be doing a high amount of communicating, with Gia’s amorous side frequently surfacing, and Knuti allowing himself to be a willing recipient of her ardor. Then again, Knut must stand his ground to let La Bella Gia know that she is just visiting. However, not to be mistaken for any reservations regarding celebrating the coming holiday. A clever bear making arrangements for receipt of his gifts ;-) .

I am totally smiling, Mervi; what a cute story + excellent pictures!

    Bear Hugs, Tish
