Wilbär is a big boy now

Knuti’s Weekly and all Wilbär fans have the great pleasure to wish a very happy birthday to a beautiful bear boy. We all wish you a long and happy life with Ewa …. and hopefully little Wilbärs in due course….
Wilbär was born on December 10, 2007 in Stuttgart as an only cub and raised by his mother Corinna. Herr Willbär is a very self confident, playful and outgoing polar bear who likes to show off in front of an audience. He usually plays tricks on his audience and will dive under the water and in the next moment jump out to frighten people much to the audience’s joy.
Wilbär has developed a lot during the recent months and he’s becoming more and more independent. He is practising his hunting skills and is trying to conquer big blue barrels which are hanging in his habitat. He generally eats fish, meat and some vegetables.
Parents:
Mother Corinna, born on December 20, 1989 at Copenhagen Zoo in Denmark.
Father Anton, born on December 22, 1989 at Karlsruhe Zoo in Germany.
Corinna and Anton: Happy birthday, dear Wilbär! Mommy and Daddy are so happy knowing you’re having a good life in Orsa and we hope Ewa and you will be as happy as we are!
Ewa: Dear Wilbär, you are my best friend and I wish you a very happy birthday. I hope they will make two cakes even this time – after all we are growing bears and need lots of energy – don’t you agree?
News from Pernilla:
It looks like we’re going to celebrate Wilbär’s birtday in a snowy, cold weather and what would be more suitable for a polar bear! We have about 2 dm snow at the moment in Orsa Polar World and hopefully the snow is here to stay this time.
Wilbär has a new favourite game. We throw snowballs to him and he catches them with his mouth. Both Ewa and Wilbär have thick, fluffy winter fur now - I myself am freezing just thinking about jumping into that icy cold water but the bears love to play ‘ice breakers’.
Yesterday they both were hiding when it was time for their breakfast and it took me some time to find the white bears in a white area of the size of 6-7 football arenas….Finally I found one of them under some snow covered wood branches and the other one in the pond trying to hide something (maybe an old moose leg?) under the ice.

Dear Wilbar, HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
I know that it is already a bit late in the evening for you, but nevertheless … I wish you all the best.
Your Auntie Pernilla just told us that you both are becoming champions in “hide and seek” games. Well, watch out for not missing your breakfast because young bears still need that !!!
Dear Wilbar, when the news was published that you were going to move to Orsa, somebody called you “Gluckspilz” or something like that in German (in Dutch, we would say “Geluksvogel’) and that it indeed what you are. You are the child of two wonderful and beautiful parents, you were raised with lots of love and care, now you are living in a polar bear paradise, enjoying the lovely company of a pretty, lively and young girl Ewa (although it seems that she has been eating your birthday cake !!!, but who cares) and surrounded by nice keepers who adore to take further care of you in your future life.
To a personal note, I really appreciate and respect the efforts made by the people in Orsa to keep us informed about you and Ewa.
Actually, if I could make a wish, I would wish that all young polar bears born somewhere in a Zoo could spend their life in an environment like yours.
