After shooting a tranqulizer the vet thought the bear was asleep. He was right – a few seconds. The female bear suddenly woke up and started to hunt the hunter. The man had to run for his life….Even the second tranquilizer failed and the bear attacked again.

A run away bear from a zoo

Finally the vet managed to shoot yet another tranquilizer and the bear went to deep sleep. This  drama took place  last Friday in the village Chorzov in Poland where the hunters tracked the runaway bear. The same bear was caught near a school in the Polish town Przemysl three weeks ago and then released in the woods.

The local people believe the bear has escaped from a zoo in Ukraine near the Polish border. Now it will be placed in the local zoo.

Knuti’s Weekly wishes the ‘fugitive’ best of luck!

  1. Caren – What a coincidence – juste when I was going to publish this I read your comment about the crazy cat and the koala. I hope this bear will have a good life in her new home. Maybe she even wants to have a nap!

  2. Dear Mervi – I have seen the scenario on TV last night. I also hope there will be a longterm happy end for the bear. Thank you.
    Hugs, caren

  3. Dear Ladies (Caren and Mervi), I also believe that this time, there might be a happy end, considering all efforts made to sedate the bear and bring her to the local zoo. For me, the most important thing was that she was not immediately killed and that they tried to get her in a more or less normal manner. But indeed, I also had to giggle when I saw the pictures. You both must agree with me, sometimes men are brave!!!

  4. Yikes!…but I’m so glad they didn’t kill her…and she didn’t kill him!

  5. Dear Mervi and Caren!
I hope a bear can stay in zoo in Poland. There are no food in some zoos in Ukraine.
    Hugs

  6. Dear Mervi and Caren,

Many kudos to the officials for not shooting the bear!! I hope too that the bear can stay in Poland.

  7. Many animals would be saved if it was always used the tranquilizers, even if have to insist 3 or more times. Great.
