Vor ihren Gefährten hat jeder Angst

Donnernd und mit drohend ausgestellten Ohren stürmt der riesige Elefantenbulle Abu auf das winzige kleine Mädchen zu. Ihr Vater sieht das, und ihm gefriert das Blut in den Adern. Doch wie jedes Mal breitet Tippi ihre Arme aus und der graue Riese bremst aus vollem Lauf. Er kommt knapp einen halben Meter vor ihr schnaubend zum Stehen. Er hebt kurz den Rüssel und kitzelt Tippi gaaaanz zart den Bauch, bis sie kichert. „Wir spielen immer Verkehrspolizei. Er kommt angerannt und muss anhalten, wenn ich es ihm sage”. erklärt sie. Mit ihrem Freund J & B spielt sie lieber Fangen, obwohl sie ihn nie erwischt. J & B ist ein Leopard, den sie kennenlernte, als sie ganze 4 Jahre alt war. Er war auf der Farm ihrer Eltern erschienen, zu Tippi gegangen und hatte sie böse angefaucht. Da hieb sie ihm mit ihrer kleinen Faust auf die Nase und sagte bestimmt: „Lass das!” Seit dem sind sie Freunde.

Sylvie und André Degré leben und arbeiten als Dokumentarfilmer in Afrika. Wenn sie wilde Tiere filmten, war ihre kleine Tochter Tippi fast immer dabei. Und die ging auf die Tiere zu. Nicht mutig, nicht unüberlegt
einfach so, ganz selbstverständlich. Wie sie es machte, weiß niemand: Die Tiere blieben friedlich stehen und ließen sich von ihr berühren. Und sie machten mit, wenn das Kind Lust auf ausgelassene Spiele hatte. Nicht nur Abu, der Elefant, und J & B , der Leopard. Auch wilde Emus lassen sich reiten, das Chamäleon Leon streichelt sie, und giftige Schlangen lassen sich von ihr aus dem Gras heben und um den Hals legen. Es sind wilde Tiere, vor denen selbst die Einwohner Afrikas milde gesagt äußersten Respekt haben. „Wenn wir auf die Tiere zugehen, reagieren sie aggressiv oder wenden sich sofort zur Flucht”. erzählen die Eltern. Aber auf Tippi gehen sie zu. Und warum? Für so eine blöde Frage hat Tippi nur ein Kopfschütteln übrig: „Mann, weil das meine Freunde sind.

Tippi and her wild friend – Everybody is scared of her friends

Thunderous and with threatening forward directed ears the huge bull elephant Abu storms towards the tiny little girl. As her father sees that, his blood is running cold. But as every time Tippi spreads her arms and the grey giant breaks in full run. Shortly, only half a meter in front of her he snorting comes to a stand. Shortly he is lifting his trunk and tickles Tippi´s belly veeery soft until she giggles. “We always play traffic police. He comes running against and has to stop when I tell him”, she explains. With her friend J & B she rather plays tag although she is never able to catch him. J & B is a leopard, whom she got to know when she was just 4 years old. He showed up on the farm of her parents, went to Tippi and snarled angry at her. There she stroke him with her little fist on the nose and told him “Stop it!” Since that time they are friends.

Sylvie and Andrè Degré live and work as documentary filmmakers in Africa. As they filmed wild animals their little daughter Tippi was almost always present. And she went directly close to the animals. Not courageous, not inconsiderately just like that, quite natural. How she did it nobody knows: the animals peacefully stood still and let her touch them. And they took part, when the child was in mood to play. Not only Abu, the elephant, and “J&B” the leopard. Also wild emus let her ride on them, the chameleon Leon she petted and also poisonous snakes let her to be lifted out of the grass and put around her neck. These are wild animals even the natives of Africa mildly speaking have greatest respect to them. “If we approach the animals they react aggressive or turn round to flee” the parents tell. But to Tippi they are coming close. And why? For such a stupid question Tippi only can shake her head: “Because those are my friends!”
