Report from Berlin 3-8 March
Ich bin wieder gut zu Hause angekommen nach ein schöne Bärlin-Ausflug und möchte mich gern nochmal bedanken bei Gudrun für die Organisation von das nette Treffen bei Joes. Es war schön wieder soviele Knut-Freunde zu sehen!
Meine Zurückreise mit die Bahn war gar nicht langweilig, weil ich so viele Bilder und Videos geknipst hatte, das ich bis Osnabrück brauchte um sie alle zu sehen.
I returned home safe and sound after another wonderful Bearlin trip. I would like to say thanks, again, to Gudrun, for the organisation of a wonderful meeting at Joe’s. It was great to see so many Knut friends again!
My return trip by train certainly was not a dull one, while I had made so many pictures and videos in Berlin, that it took me till we were in Osnabrück before I had seen them all.
Ein herzlichen Dank an SpreewaldMarion für die zwei schöne Fotos von Knut und mir, und für der Zoo-Runde der wir zusammen machten. Es war zwar nicht der erste Mal das ich als Erste bei Knut war, aber es bleibt ein bisonderes Moment wenn der Bär dich beobachtet und anschaut. Bemerkenswert fand ich es übrigens, das Gianna gar kein Andacht für den ersten Besucher (nicht nur mir) hat. Warscheinlich wegens ihre Schönheits-Schlaf.
A special thank-you to SpreewaldMarion for the two wonderful pictures of Knut and me she placed in the forum, and for the Zoo round we made together. Actually, it was not the first time I was the first person at Knut’s, but it remains an exeptional moment when you are alone with the bear and he notices, and acknowledges, you. It was remarkable to see that Gianna had no interest in the first visitors (not only me) altogether. Probably because of her beauty sleep.
Man hat ins Forum gesagt, das die Bären nicht viel taten diese letzte Tagen. Aber doch gab es sehr viel zu sehen und zu erleben am Gehege, wie den folgenden Bilder zeigen.
In the forum it is said, that the bears didn’t display much activity these past days. Nonetheless there was much to see and experience at the resort, as the following pictures will show.
Ich hat gesagt, ich nehm der Frühling mit nach Berlin. Aber er ist gleich umkehrt. Es war richtig Kalt in Berlin. Giannas Atem kondensiert in die Luft.
I had said before, I’ll take the spring with me to Berlin. But it turned right back on his heels. It was really cold in Berlin. Gianna’s breath condensates in the air.
Es war so Kalt, das selbst Knut seine Muskel fühlte. Gianna gab ihn darum ein richtige Massage. Das tat unser Bärchen gut!
Actually, it was so cold, that even Knut felt his muscles. That’s why Gianna gave him a big massage. That did our bear good!
Aber wie Kalt auch, Knut könnte der Frühling schön riechen!
But however cold, Knut could already smelled the spring!
Gianna nehmt ein Sonnenbad in ihre gemeinsame Schmink-kühle des Geheges.

Jurgen schaute zu. Er hat bei der viele Sport-Sendungen der letzte Zeit gesehen, das wichtige Leute so etwas tun aus eine “Skybox”. Und nicht nur Gianna, aber auch Knut hat ein Fernsehn-Programm, ein Kurs sogar …
Jurgen watched. He had seen at the many sport broadcasts of the last weeks, that important people do so from a Skybox. And not only Gianna, but also Knut had his own television programme, a course no less …

What a fascinating, detailed and well-written report. It totally inspired, informed and entertained me. Knut is a truly a special bear and will continue to enchant us with his innate intelligence and ‘sensitivity’ in the upcoming years. Gianna is such a beauty and I love looking at her. Your photos are very evocative and seem to capture the inner essence of our beloved bears – that is so rare. Thanks too for including a photo of my favourite cross-species philanderer Jurgen, whom I hear is quite a flirt. But when you look so good, it is imperative you spread around the charm…right Jurgen? He’s probably up on the tree to catch a glance at some sexy lady eagles and that gorgeous tigress

I always like to visit this site, ahem, thank you very much Ms. Mervi, and I am never disappointed.
My, my, such lovely prose and photos of our dear bear and his ‘honey bear.’ I’m thinking that after all those years of playing with inanimate objects, Knut has finally arrived, that is, having a live companion.
Incidentally, in the last photo, Knut looks like Lars !! Who knows what will happen when the time comes?

Actually, the last picture, which you thought was Knut looking like Lars, is of Gianna. You’re in good company though, as many people have not noticed this, while most of the times she has a bit more ‘wilder’ look.
I caught her in a pensive mood – she saw my white hair and probably thought, what a funny little polar bear is that?

Frans-Frans-Frans, ich schulde Dir noch ein großes Dankeschön für Deine Fotos – umwerfend wie immer! – und Deine netten Texte und auch dafür, dass Du Dir immer die Mühe machst Deutsch zu schreiben. Kannst Du bitte verraten, wo Du Deine Chile-Bilder versteckt hast. Du hast damals ein paar wunderschöne sozusagen als “amuse geul” geschickt, danach habe ich aber nirgends mehr etwas entdeckt. Wie ich Dich inzwischen kenne, hast Du bestimmt gaaaaanz viele Fotos in Chile/Patagonien gemacht. Deine ganzen Reise-Alben finde ich auch nicht mehr – schluchz!
