The 35 years old Phang Thong Khun, an Asian elephant, gave birth to the twins in the province Surin on Saturday morning on March 6. It took two hours for the babies to enter the world.

The ‘cutefantjes’ have no names yet.

Elephant twins are born very seldom and not many of them survive. The newborn elephant babies are the first known male twins. The female twins Phang Jum and Phan Jim were born 15 years ago – also in Thailand.

  1. Dear cutefantjes, yesterday when I read the great news of your arrival on this planet, I started to cross my fingers for the two of you so that you may stay healthy and grow up to become strong elephants.

  2. Dear Mervi,
this is amazing, here we also could say “miracles do happen”. These two are so cute. We wish the twins and Phang Thong Khun all the best for a happy and healthy life.

  3. Dear Mervi,

Thank you for posting this good news! Wow, Phang Thong Khun must be so tired–but very proud too. Best of luck for a long, happy life to the twins and their mom.

    Hugs from Sarsam

  4. Thnaks dear Mervi for this beautiful picture. Hopefully the “little-ones” are approximately equal in size and power, in order they have the same chance to develop properly and to survive! Hopefully “mother” has got enough milk for the both of them! Cross my fingers for all the three concerned, mother and children!

  5. Mervi,
