  1. Dear Ulli J,

Thank you so much for posting the links to the adorable, heartwarming photos of the little cutiefantje! I bet there will be tears in everybody’s eyes when they see these pics.

I wish the miracle baby a wonderful, long life.

    Hugs from Mervi

  2. There is no better word to use than little miracle. After reading the articles, the horror stories of the labour and the circumstnaces in which this calf was born, it is hard to believe that he survived all this.
But I adore the pics and never realized before that little elephants are so “hairy”.

  3. Thank you so much of this lovely update of the cutiefantje, Patricia started to report about.
I am happy that the little one seems to be well. I do wish him a healthy, happy and long life in this beautiful Taronga Zoo.
    Greetings from caren

  6. Dear Ulli,

Thank you very much for the update on “Mr. Shuffles”! He is one lucky baby elephant to have survived the ordeal. It is good to see that his eyes are no longer bright red like they were when he was born.

  7. Liebe Ulli,

It’s hard (for me) to believe that baby elephants come in such small sizes, and as Patricia pointed out, hairy in their infancy. Infancy after a 22-month gestational period. What a wonderful miracle of nature. Always in awe of how Mother Nature assigns the particulars to each species. Very happy the little guy is steppin’ out. He looks happy, well cared for in the company of the other elephants, his keepers.

    Wow! Tish

    Thanks for the update.
