Visiting Su Lin, Bai Yun and Yun Zi in San Diego

Wir waren im Zoo San Diego am 6.3.2010. Der Zoo ist riesig, die meisten Gehege sind sehr groß und die Vegetation ist wunderschön. Wir haben sehr viel gesehen, aber ein Tag war zu kurz um alle Tiere zu besuchen. Ich fange an mit den großen Pandas.
We were in the zoo San Diego at the 3/6/2010. The zoo is gigantic, most enclosures are very big and the vegetation is wonderful. We have seen a lot, but one day was too shot to visit all animals. I start with the giant pandas.
Der Zoo San Diego und China einigten sich über ein 12-jähriges Forschungsdarlehen von zwei großen Pandas, Bai Yun und Shi Shi. Es wurde ein Gehege für die Panda-Gäste gebaut. Jetzt wird es die große Panda-Forschungsstation genannt. Obwohl zurzeit fünf große Pandas in Zoo leben, wäre möglich bis zu sechs Pandas bequem aufzunehmen.
Zoo San Diego and China agreed on a 12-year research loan of two giant pandas, Bai Yun and Shi Shi. A brand-new exhibit area was built for the panda guests, which is now called the Giant Panda Research Station. Although five giant pandas live in zoo, a facility can comfortably house up to six.

Am Nachmittag lag Yun Li in der Hängematte.
In the afternoon lay Yun Li in the hammock.
Das ist die Mutter von Yun Li, sie heißt Bai Yun.
This is the mother of Yun Li, Bai Yun.
Sie versuchte ein Stuck Apfel aus der Kugel zu bekommen.

Hallo Ludmila und Uwe – Ihr habt in den letzten Monaten ein riesiges Zoo-Programm absolviert, inklusive zweimaliger Atlantik-Überquerung. Eine unternhemungslustige Familie, wie man erst jetzt so richtig erkennen kann und Du, Ludmila, bist auch sehr aktiv in den Foren und Blogs unterwegs – viel mehr als früher. Toll, dass Ihr so eine Freude an der “Sache” (bekommen) habt und uns alle teilhaben lasst. Panda-Bären sind soo schöne und ‘gemütvoll’ wie ‘gemütlich’ wirkende Bären. Bai Yun scheint ein sehr aktives ‘Exemplar’ zu sein. Danke für Fotos und Bericht/e. Ein erholsames Wochenende wünscht Euch Dumba

Das ist ein ganz fantastischer Bericht und so herrliche Fotos von den Pandas. Da wir gestern nicht zum Anschauen gekommen sind, ist DAS heute für uns ein wirklich sonntäglicher Hochgenuss. Vielen Dank für Euren wunderschönen Bildbericht. Wir freuen uns schon jetzt auf eine Fortsetzung …. und wünschen Euch einen angenehmen Sonntag.

Dear Ludmila, many thanks for your report and pics. The one that made me laugh was little Yun Li sleeping in his hammock. The only thing one can see is his “dikke witte kontje”. Why is that young animals always do have such funny cute boomsies??? Na ja, human babies do have them too !!!
I hope I may suppose that this was only Part I of your trip. In all honesty, I am looking forward to the koalas.

Ahhh, beautiful photos of the pandas! And I appreciate the photo of the fact-containing sign. Wow–50 times/hour marking by the female in season–that must take a lot of energy!! Thank you very much for this report (as Patricia says, hopefully only #1 in a series!!)

Liebe Ludmilla und Uwe,
eure Berichte habe ich sehr gern gelesen und die Fotos von den Pandabären einfach zu schön. Allerdings macht es mich schon traurig das wir in diesem Jahr nicht den Zoo von San Diego sehen, na ja aufgeschoben ist halt aufgehoben. Die Reise ist für euch eine schöne Erinnerung und hat euch sicher gut gefallen.
