Summer plans

Hello friends! Before I start writing I just have to have something to eat! Where’s that Sylvia – I’m HUNGRY!

Not a minute too soon! As you all know by now I’m still a growing bear and need lots of energy. Excuse me for a moment. I have to eat this salmon before La Donna catches sight of it … or smells it….

The gardening season is here and I spend hours taking care of all the green plants, trees and bushes in my enclosure.

Gianna doesn’t always understand why I spend so much time gardening …..

… but a bear’s gotta do what a bear’s gotta do! Oh, it smells so summer…

I’ve learnt that it’s very important also to taste the plants.

This is my ‘handing garden’ and I’m very proud of it.

OK, it’s play time. May I have the next dance, mademoiselle?

But of course! The pleasure is all mine.

Have you heard the latest gossip?

Well, let me tell you that….Would you mind not eavesdropping? This is strictly between me and Gianna.

Have you made any plans for our vacation?

I’ve heard Antibes is very nice but it’s awfully hot there in the summer time.

Don’t worry – our friends Flocke and Raspi have an airconditioned enclosure and lots of fresh, clear water.  Let’s start packing but please, keep in mind that we want to travel light. I’m only taking some snacks with me.

Hihihii…. last time your luggage 35 kilos overweight and we had to pay a lot of money to Lufthansa because of your ‘couple of  snacks’! Travelling light indeed!!

I enjoy the peaceful moments lying on my sand throne (without sand) and watching my fans. I’m always very happy but even touched that they keep on coming to visit me.

I wish you all a wonderful summer and pleasant, relaxing vacations!

Your pal Knuti

  1. Dear Mervi
thank you for telling us about Knut’s & Giovanna’s summer plans. I think it is a very good idea to spend the summer together with Flocke and Raspi. It is certainly hot, but they have a nice pool in Antibes. However, they have to get used to the salty water.
I am very impressed by Knuti’s gardening abilities.
Thanks also for the nice photos taken by Doris and Jessie
    Hugs from caren

  7. Dear Knut,

yes, you are definitely still a growing bear and you need lots of salmons and croissants! I visited you in Berlin Zoo last week – well perhaps you didn’t see me, because, there were a lot of people standing at your enclosure, watching the most handsome, amiable polar bear in the world, playing with his beautiful vivacious girl-friend!
A big thank you goes to Mervi, Doris and Jessie: beautiful pictures and a very interesting story about Knut and Giovanna!
