It looked like Lars was walking on a catwalk….

Last Friday I visited Lars in Wuppertal . It was the first time that I saw him back on his big enclosure, he is healthy now and so he can stay there again. Of course he needs some kilos more, but it is for sure that it will not be that problem for him . He is eating with good appetite and looks better and better whenever I visit him.
With the permission from the zoo we brought some toys for Lars. And so we had a knot built from rope and a buffalo hide toy, built like a big, big bone. And also some fruits and a melon.
First Lars got the knot, and we had a big smile on our face because Lars took the knot in his mouth and than he started to present the knot to the audience. It looked like if he was walking on a catwalk. Than he started to play with the toy, and finally he jumped into his pool and had big fun with swimming and diving with that knot. But after a while it became a bit boring and so he left the water with the toy. After some minutes playing the knot falls into the water by a mishap, and that was the sign for Lars to stop playing with that knot.
And now I was very astonished, Mr. Kühn, the keeper gave Lars also that big bone. And once again, Lars showed the bone to the audience, and than he started to destroy the bone, because he noticed, that he could eat that bone. Unfortunately after a while the bone also fall into the water, and that was the end of Lars and the toys
Time for a little snack, and so the keeper gave Lars a big bunch of gras, Polar bears are omnivores, and Lars enjoyed his snack very much.
Finally Lars started to toss and turn and he looks very happy and relaxed.
And so I left the zoo with a big feeling of happiness, and also a lot of gratefulness for the all those people who did such a great job with the recovery of Lars.

Dear Bea and Gitta,
How wonderful to see Lars feeling so fine! What a great idea it was to bring those toys to him – he really loves to play with them. Who could believe he was fighting for his life for just a couple of months ago. Thank God this gorgeous bear made it!
I’ve never noticed before how alike Lars and Knut are. Now we just have to wish they both will soon have a suitable female play mate.
Thank you so much for the excellent report and beautiful photos!
Hugs from Mervi
Dear Bea and Gitta, is there any better way to start a working week, especially when it is grey and wet outside than reading the report and watsching the pics???? No, there is no better way. And even though I have wen through texts and photos already four times, I cannot get enough of it. Therefore, thank you so much, dear Ladies.
And yes, it seems that Lars secretly trained for the catwalk.
Dearest Mervi
I awoke this morning with a very loud cry!
Dusty was sitting an the computer and called me:
“Frauchen!! Frauchen!!
Come at once and have a look! Lars with my toys in KWM! Wow!!! Pardon, wau!!
What a big pleasure and honour.
I think, we are a great team:
Mervi, Bea and you… and of course Lars and me.”
That were his words!
And now he is dancing through the whole house and garden and telephoning to all his friends.
But the best news are:
Lars is feeling so much better. We could see it with our own eyes.
He has fantastic people around him.
I hope and pray that these fantastic bears, Lars and his son Knut will live their life full of happines and health, hopefully with a female at their side.
Once again, dear Mervi, thank you and lots of bear- and doghugs!!
Gitta
Liebe Bea, liebe Gitta,

Bea, thank you for your wonderful report and photos. He loved your toys!! I’m so glad Lars seems to be making it through. He is such a good natured bear, it is amazing. This is why he has my heart. So beautiful. My wish for him: a tundra run, a big mulchbett and a lovely lady friend!
