Mrs. Kaspari (Dipl.Biol.) mentioned our Charity KWM-Projekt for the Bears’ Sanctuary in their Magazine of September 2010:
![]()
Translation: The bears-team receives international attendance via the internet magazine www.knutisweekly.com, the internetpage which is worth reading. This magazine is run by engaged polar bear friends worldwide. Thanks to the continuous engagement of caren and Mervi the existence of the bears Sanctuary has been brought to an international polar bear audience. Many polar bear friends sent donations and/or even became member of Gewerkschaft für Tiere e.V. Their latest project which has been founded via KnutiWeeklyMagazine is a charity program for the Sanctuary. Photocards with bears and calendars could be bought, 100% of the money was sent to the Sanctuary. The cards were made by caren to support the Gnadenhof.

A really big salmon was caught in Muonio river in northern Finland. I guess this is what might be called a Knut size salmon!

The weight of the salmon is 39.3 kg, length 138 cm!

After two days, finally rescued: the story of two little goats

These two young little goats cannot complain about their guardian angel. For about two days, they were standing there, on a small ledge about twenty meter above the ground. Finally, by using a hydraulic platform, it was possible to bring the animals back to the ground floor.
The rescue operation too place in Southern Montana. The first try was very unsuccessful because there was confusion about the exact location. Only at the second day, after information and more exact details from another caller, the little kids were found and rescued.
According the animal group Humane Society, there were serious fears that they would fall off. But all is well that ends well. And now, they will try to look for the primary owners, but if that fails, an adoption is possible. Because the two little goats are just like babies and everybody loves an animal with a story.

OK… here’s the scoop. There’s a commercial running here in the States for Nissan’s electric car, the Leaf… and the ad features a polar bear! The ad itself is amazing- I don’t know whether to smile or cry when I see it- and while a bit of the polar bear footage was from nature documentaries or was digitzed, most of it features a bear named Aggie!

Dear Friends, just by chance I found the “perfect” equipment for travelling to CCC. I am ready with my preparations for the trip to Knut’s 4th birthday. And you?
I am not going to tell you the knusband’s opinion with respect to my luggage ![]()

I have never seen this before today…a little bit of Americana from the 1960′s. Chilly Willy is a penguin and here he has an adventure with his friend Maxie, a polar bear! It’s actually pretty cute:

there are many more videos and even a fan page on the web: http://chillywillyfan.com/

Dear Betsy,
What a delight it was to meet Chilly Willy! I’m going to watch all the videos….
Hugs from Mervi
Dear Betsy, how funny and I will do the same as Mervi, I will look at all videos during the evenings.
Dear Betsy,
what a funny contribution in Knut’s Focus. Thank you so much for this Monday entertainment.
Hugs from caren
Dear Caren,
My face is greener than green after seeing your elegant set of bags! I’m sure even Knut himself will approve when he sees you showing him one ( or maybe all??) of them!
I’m sure Bernd is proud to have a wife with such an excellent taste!
Hugs from Mervi
Hallo Caren
Die Taschen sind ja klasse.
Hast Du schon ein Monopol darauf angemeldet?
Grüsse Crissi
Dear caren,
Aren’t these the bags we saw in April? I knew we shouldn’t have passed them up–
so glad you found them again! They are wonderful! xo k-j
Dear Caren
I love it!
This luggage is simply the ONLY luggage one could bring when traveling to the zoos. If any knusband puts up a fight or rolls his eyes, well, it is only for lack of proper education.
regarding Chilly Willy and Maxie, I am impressed that polar bears made it into the world of cartoons in the 1960′s. It makes me kind of interested to know the general awarness and interest of polar bears at that time
bh!!!
Betsy
Dear Caren,
I love your luggage–so appropriate for the Wild Herd! Be sure to show them to Knut when you visit him next time!
Dear Betsy,
Chilly Willy is delightful! It’s been a long time since I saw him…..thank you for bringing him here!
Hugs from Sarsam
Dear Sarah,
Your gang looks gorgeous! Is it Master Tom in the other picture? No wonder he’s very proud of his looks
Thank you for sharing these lovely photos with us!
Hugs from Mervi
PS. Mimmi and Nalle meow their best regards, too!
Dear Sarah, I agree with Mervi, your Chelsea Gang is great. And I suppose that the cat showing the big belly is Sydney (aka ATOP – she is my favourite, you know: cool little lady). And I also love the pic of the robin in the snow. Please, more of this!!!
Big hugs from me and lots of meows from the Leuven Gang
Dear AnotherSusan,
I very seldom think commercials are nice but this one really is! What a lovely bear Aggie is!
Thank you so much for posting this!
Hugs from Mervi
Dear Patricia,
This is the perfect SUNday story! I love happy endings and I wish the little goats best of luck in their future life.
Hugs from Mervi
Dear Patricia,
That goat story was great–thank goodness they did not get scared and leap the wrong way!! I’m sure the HSUS will find them a good home.
Dear AnotherSusan,
Wow, what a commercial. And the making of the commercial is fascinating too. Aggie is a beautiful bear and a pretty good actress!!
Hugs from Sarsam
Wow, this really is a huge salmon. I’m sure Herr Knut would appreciate the size!
Greetings from Mervi
Mervi, I am sure that Knuti will even appreciate two of this size!!! Or maybe even three since he has now to share his food with the Ladies.
Dear Caren,
Thank you for inserting the announcement from Gnadenhof here. It’s great to know we could do something and of course, it’s heartwarming to hear it’s appreciated!
Hugs from Mervi
Dear Caren, thank you for keeping us informed about Gnadenhof and let us cross our fingers that the bear can make it soon to have also a great life there!!! By the way, tell the people of Gnadenhof that the pleasure in supporting them was all ours, but indeed, as Mervi wrote, their appreciation is heartwarming.
Liebe Caren.liebe Bernd
LG
Bea
Dear Charlotte,
Thank you for introducing the Wild Cat Sanctuary for us. It*s always good to know there are places for our fourlegged friends who have been abandoned.
Hugs from Mervi
Dear Charlotte, what a wonderful place. And what wonderful cats!!! And what wonderful pictures. As you may know, I adore cats, in all sizes and colors, but tigers have always been my favorites. And every time when I see a pic of a tiger, I recall the first lines of a poem: tiger, tiger, burning bright, in the forest of the night!! Amongst all cats on earth, if there is A CAT, then it is the tiger. There are not enough words to describe their beauty, unfortunately, hunters have seen the same.
Liebe Mervi,
VIELEN DANK!
Viele liebe Grüße
Charlotte
Dear Caren,
Thank you for the info and the video. I’m glad I was able to read German – otherwise I wouldn’t have understood what was said.
Once again – I’m so happy KWM’s readers have helped these lovely bears and I’m sure we will continue to do so.
Hugs from Mervi
