A welcoming surprise party in Bärenhof

The last few days have been very busy in the encosure of the Golden Girls. After hearing the news of a new polar bear girl in Bärlin the ladies decided to give her a warm welcome….
Tosca: Girls, it’s time for a board meeting! Have you heard the news from the Tierpark?
Kati, Nancy: No, what’s up? Why are you so excited?
Tosca: The fluffy bear angel appeared last night and told me a young polar bear girl has arrived in the Tierpark. She was thought to be the bride of Knuti but now she’s all alone there….
Nancy: A young bear girl? Is she coming to stay with us? It would be so nice to have a young bear here with us…..
Tosca: Well, we don’t know anything about the plans for her yet but let’s keep our claws crossed. It makes me so sad to think the girl came too late for Knut but I think it’s our duty anyway to give her a warm welcome.
Kati: Dear Tosca, you’re so right. The young lady needs to know she’s welcome and that we all love her already!
Nancy: Why don’t we arrange a welcome party for her? A surprise party!!
Kati, Tosca: That’s a great idea! … and you know what …. let’s make it a surprise & crawfish party! We must start the preparations immediately!
Tosca: First we have to make a guest list. Hmmm, let’s see – Aika and Troll, of course…. Giovanna and Yoghi, Vera, Felix and the cubs, Wilbär and Eva, Corinna and Anton, Blanche and Qannik from Belgium, Siku and Sesi with their parents…. oh my, this is going to be a long list….. Fräulein Flocke and of course, Raspi. We’ll be needing him as an interpreter. The young girl comes from Russia and I don’t think she has learnt to growl in German yet.
Suddenly a voice was heard:
Tosca: OK, Siddy, you’re invited but how on earth could you hear us? Are we bugged?? I just hope the rhinos and the hippos haven’t heard about the party ….. it would be too crowded….
— and another voice:
Nancy: Dear, sweet Devi, of course you must come, too. It will be nice for the new girl to meet someone at her own age.
Kati: We’re going to need lots of food, too. I must contact the nice ladies who come here on Saturdays with the ‘Bollerwagen’ – I’m sure they will help us with salmons, croissants, melons, rosinenbrot and all the necessary things. Lettuce and carots are not needed ……We also need some help from our friends in Scandinavia – they know how to arrange a crawfish party.
Nancy: I’ll send the invitations by email and ask everybody to answer right away but I’m sure they will all come.
Next morning
Nancy: Just like I guessed everybody’s answered that they’re coming to the party! Jippii – this will be great!
Kati: I’ve talked with our delivery ladies and they are very happy to help us with the food. We also had a load of crawfish, funny hats, napkins and coloured lanterns from Sweden.
Tosca: All we have to do now is to decorate the enclosure with the lanterns…. and let’s try NOT to eat the food!!
Kati: How about some adult entertainment? No, I DON’T mean that kind ….. what are you thinking? I thought maybe some nice music. I think I’ll call the Tyrolean Mighty Bears’ Orchestra and ask if they’re available tonight. Should we also have a pop band? The Growling Stones maybe??
Tosca, Nancy: Wonderful, we can dance, too.
Nancy: I have a little surprise for you already. I’ve bought a new camera – especially designed for polar bears!
Tosca, Kati: We didn’t know there were special cameras for us….
Nancy: Oh yes, there are – they are called POLARoids!! Now we can take lots of photos, too!
Tosca: Well, ladies, everything seems to be ready ….. Oh, heeelp, I look terrible! We must hurry and make ourselves presentable!
Kati: Does my fur look fluffy enough now? How about my legs?
Tosca: Your legs look fine and fluffy. Let me tell you something really funny. I read this in the new French fashion magazine Flogue.
Tosca: The human ladies shave their legs! Can you imagine? I was laughing so much when I read it…. it’s so hilarious!!
Nancy: You can’t be serious! Oh dear, I’m rolling on the floor with laughter….
Tosca: These humans really are a very queer species …. they shave their legs but then they pay great amounts of money – that’s what they call salmons – for fur coats… Luckily most of the fur coats nowadays are of artificial fur! Somehow I feel pity of the humans – maybe it would be better if they were born with a lovely fur just like we are…..
Nancy: OK, let’s stop laughing, hihihiii…..shave the legs, hihihii….. and prepare ourselves to welcome the guests. We must hide behind the rocks and when the young ice princess arrives we come out and growl:
SURPRISE, SURPRISE!!
All three: We look white and fluffy, the table is laid and the enclosure is decorated. We are ready to welcome the new ice princess!

In den letzten Tagen waren sehr viel los im Gehege der Golden Girls. Nachdem sie die Neuigkeiten von einem neuen Eisbärenmädchen in Bärlin gehört hatten, entschieden sich die Damen, sie herzlich willkommen zu heißen….
Tosca: Mädels, es ist Zeit für ein Meeting! Habt ihr schon die Neuigkeiten vom Tierpark gehört?
Kati, Nancy: Nein, was ist denn los? Warum bist du denn so aufgeregt?
Tosca: Der “Fluffy Bear Angle” erschien letzte Nacht und erzählte mir, dass ein junges Eisbärenmädchen im Tierpark angekommen ist. Sie war als Braut für Knuti gedacht, aber jetzt ist sie ganz allein da ….
Nancy: Ein junges Bärenmädchen? Wird sie bei uns leben? Es wäre ja zu schön, eine junge Bärin bei uns zu haben ….
Tosca: Nichts genaues weiß man nicht über die Pläne mit ihr, aber lasst uns die “Daumen drücken”. Es macht mich so traurig, dass sie für Knuti zu spät kommt, aber ich glaube, es ist unsere Pflicht, sie herzlich willkommen zu heißen.
Kati: Liebe Tosca, wie recht du hast. Die junge Dame muss wissen, dass sie willkommen ist und dass wir sie schon jezt sehr mögen!
Nancy: Wir könnten eine Willkommen-Party für sie arrangieren. Eine Überraschungsparty !!
Kati, Tosca: Eine Superidee! … und wißt ihr was …. lasst uns doch eine Überraschungs- und Krebsparty veranstalten! Wir müssen sofort mit den Vorbereitungen beginnen!
Tosca: Zuerst müssen wir eine Gästeliste machen. Hmmm, Aika und Troll natürlich … Giovanna und Yoghi, Vera, Felix und die Kleinen, Wilbär und Ewa, Corinna und Anton, Blanche und Qannik aus Belgien, Siku und Sesi mit den Eltern … ach, du meine Güte, das wird eine lange Liste …. Fräulein Flocke und natürlich Raspi. Wir brauchen ihn als Dolmetscher, das Mädchen kommt ja aus Russland und ich glaube nicht, dass sie auch nur einen Brummer Deutsch kann.
Plötzlich hörte man eine Stimme:
“Lasst mich doch bitte auch kommen, bitte, bitte, bitte!”
Tosca: OK, Siddy, du bist auch eingeladen, aber wie konntest Du uns denn nur hören? Werden wir abgehört? Ich hoffe nur, die Nashörner und Flußpferde haben nicht auch noch von der Party gehört …. das wäre einfach zu viel ….
… und noch eine Stimme:
“Hallo, ihr? Ich werde nicht eingeladen?? Ich möchte aber auch zur Party kommen …”
Nancy: Liebe, süße Devi, natürlich musst Du auch kommen. Es ist schön für das Mädchen, Jemanden im gleichen Alter zu treffen.
Kati: Wir werden Unmengen Lebensmittel benötigen. Ich muss die netten Ladies, die immer samstags mit dem Bollerwagen kommen, kontaktieren. – Ich bin ganz sicher, sie werden uns helfen mit Lachs, Croissants, Melonen, Rosinenbrot und anderen Sachen. Salat und Möhren werden nicht gebraucht. Wir brauchen auch Hilfe von unseren skandinavischen Freunden – sie wissen genau, wie man eine Krebs-Party arrangiert.
Nancy: Ich schicke die Einladungen gleich per email und sofortige Antwort erbitten, aber ich glaube schon, sie werden alle kommen.
Nächster Morgen:
Nancy: Dachte ich es mir doch, alle werden kommen! Jippii – das wird super!
Kati: Ich habe schon mit unseren Liefer-Damen gesprochen. Sie werden uns sehr gerne mit den Lebensmitteln helfen. Und wir haben eine große Ladung Krebse, lustige Hüte, Servietten und bunte Laternen aus Schweden bekommen.
Tosca: Wir müssen nur noch das Gehege mit Laternen schmücken … und bitte lasst uns versuchen, NICHTS zu essen!!
Kati: Wie wäre es mit Unterhaltung für Erwachsene? Nein, NICHT, was ihr meint, wo denkt ihr denn hin? Ich dachte an schöne Musik. Ich glaube, ich rufe das “Tiroler Bären Orchster” an und frage, ob sie heute können. Sollten wir nicht auch noch eine Pop-Gruppe haben? Vielleicht die “Growling Stones”?
Tosca, Nancy: Wunderbar, da können wir auch tanzen.
Nancy: Für euch habe ich schon jetzt eine Überraschung. Ich habe eine neue Kamera gekauft, extra designed für Eisbären!
Tosca, Kati: Wir wussten gar nicht, das es eine Spezialkamera für uns ….
“Das ist meine neue Polaroid-Kamera, da kann man die Fotos sofort haben!”
Nancy: Oh ja, das sind – POLARoid Kameras!! Da können auch wir jede Menge Fotos machen!
Tosca: Also, meine Damen, alles scheint fertig zu sein …. Oh, Hilfe, ich sehe ja schrecklich aus! Wir müssen uns beeilen, um uns präsentierfähig zu machen!
Kati: Ist mein Pelz flauschig genug? Wie sehen meine Beine aus?
Tosca: Deine Beine sind schön und flauschig. Ich erzähle Dir jetzt etwas wirklich lustiges. I habe das in einer neuen französischen Mode Zeitschrift “Flogue” gelesen.
“Pinke Mode für trendige Eisbären”
Tosca: Die Menschen-Ladies rasieren ihre Beine! Könnt ihr euch das vorstellen? Ich musste wirklich lachen als ich das las … es ist einfach urkomisch!!
Nancy: Das meisnst du doch nicht wirklich? Oh je, ich muss mich vor lachen am Boden wälzen. …
Tosca: Diese Menschen sind wirklich eine komische Spezies …. sie rasieren sich die Beine und dann zahlen sie Unsummen – so nennen sie die Lachswährung – für Pelze … Glücklicherweise sind diese Pelze heutzutage alle künstlich! Irgendwie tun mir diese Menschen leid – vielleicht wäre es besser, sie würden mit einem so schönen Pelz, wie wir ihn haben, geboren …..
“sie rasieren ihre Beine …. hahaha…”
Nancy: OK, nun Schluss mit lachen, hihihiii … Beine rasiern, hihihii … lasst uns jetzt fertigmachen, um die Gäste zu begrüßen. Wir verstecken uns hinter den Felsen, und wenn die kleine Eisprinzessin kommt, kommen wir raus und brummen:
ÜBERRASCHUNG ! ÜBERRASCHUNG!!
“Ich glaube, wir sind flauschig genug!
“Wir haben auch ein paar lustige Croissants gemacht”
Alle Drei: Wir sind weiß und flauschig, der Tisch ist gedeckt und das Gehege dekoriert. Wir sind bereit, die junge Eisprinzessin willkommen zu heißen!

What a lovely welcome party for the little Russian Ice Princess. So many polars will be already on their way to take part. They all will help to make the little girl feel at home pretty soon. Nancy will definitely take wonderful pics of all of them, so a follow up report will come soon, I think.
Have you ever thought the bear ladies will burst of laughter knowing now that the two-legged females are shaving their legs?
I am sure Siddy and Devi will be talking about this special crawfish party for weeks. And the young NewComer will be fascinated to see all the bears, soon she will be member of the gang.
Inge had a good idea to also invite Boris he can take over all the translation tasks from his brother Rasputin should he be too busy with other things.

OMG, OmG, omG ~ I must not be getting around to the funny parties because I was/am absolutely titillated by this enfolding story of welcoming a new polar princess. The girls all have such fashionable ideas, did EvaG help with that one collage with the food?, and the laughter about the 2-legged species. I adore Flocke in pink in front of her dressing mirror, making the cover of Flogue, and that pocketbook is pink timeless! Baking happy croissants ~ who would have thought one could fancy up those tasty morsels? I am sooo entertained I can bear-ly believe it!
