Bärlin Tour for Bears

The Golden Girls have been very busy again. You really can’t claim they let the grass grow under their paws! This time the ladies have great plans for a sightseeing tour in Bärlin – especially ‘tailored’ for visiting bears. They kindly let me take notes when they were testing the route.
Tosca: Well, I think everything’s just about ready for our test tour. The bus and the chauffeur are already here. The bus driver didn’t want to come first but when I told him I was going to pick him up myself he suddenly changed his mind.
Kati: Very clever of you, dear friend. I also made him remove the seats. No wonder the buses are always overcrowded with all these stupid seats taking so much space! Now we can sit or stand quite comfortably.
Nancy: The bus is ready but we also need a guide. Kati and I’ve found a very suitable international guide for us.
Tosca: He certainly looks very international but he doesn’t say a word ….
Kati, Nancy: Who cares!! These ordinary guides are always talking nineteen to the dozen boring everybody with their ‘lectures’ …. and nobody ever listens to them anyway…. Our very special tour has a very special guide, too!
Tosca: I think we start our tour by visiting Mitte Meer – the famous fish store. They will open on September 30th but we are allowed to take a look already.
All three: Driver, follow the fish smell!
Kati: Oh, this is our kind of shop. Look at all the delicious fish.
Nancy: I’m just wondering about one thing. How are we supposed to pay for the fish? I mean – we can’t pay for salmons with salmons.
Tosca: Dear Nancy, of course, we can’t and that’s why I think all the fish is free from charge! That’s the only possibility so dig in!! Besides – all the personnel very politely left so we have the whole store for ourselves!
Kati: That was yammy but now my belly is round as a ball….. shall we take a little ‘nickerchen’ before we continue our tour?
Tosca: That’s a good idea, we can take a nap in the bus.
Nancy: Girls, it’s time to wake up and head for our next stop – Nikolaiviertel!
Kati: I think we agreed not to visit these ordinary ‘Sehenswürdigkeiten’.
Nancy: I’m not so interested in the area but there’s a great teddy shop. Of course, we must offer our guests an opportunity to buy souvenirs. I hope they have big teddytourists! The tourists look so cute when they come to visit us so I’d like to have a teddy version I could hug and cuddle.
All three: What a disappointment! There are hundreds if not thousands of teddybears of all kinds but not one teddytourist.
Tosca: That gave me an idea! We start making them ourselves! Just imagine how many salmons we’re going to make by selling them to all the visiting bears!
Kati: What’s next on the programme? Oh yes, we must visit a fish restaurant. There aren’t so many of them in Bärlin but I’ve chosen a Japanese sushi place. I’m not sure what sushi is but let’s keep an open mind shall we?
Tosca: I knew we were going there so I have a little surprise for you – kimonos! Let’s dress in kimonos so they will think we are Japanese guests.
Nancy: Oh dear, why did all the guests and even the personnel run away when we entered the restaurant? Of course, it’s very kind of them to make space for us but still….. I wouldn’t mind their presence.
Kati: Is this sushi? So small – you need a magnifying glass to see them. Now I know – sushi is a Japanese nut! We can eat them in the same way than we eat the nuts in our enclosure. Hihihii….. what funny nuts they are – but delicious though.
Tosca: Anyway – I think they need some help in running this restaurant. It can’t be very lucrative to sell small nuts. Let’s change their menu!
Nancy: Tosca, you did a great job but why did you write ‘vegetables’ on the menu. It will scare off all the guests!! Let’s put a big red cross over that ugly word. Yeah, it looks much better now.
Kati: Well, what next? We haven’t visited any bakeries yet but since we made our own happy croissants I think we’ll visit them tomorrow.
Tosca: Next stop is Tierpark, of course! We’ll pay a visit to Aika, Troll and the new polar girl. This is the highlight of our tour.
Kati: What a pity that girl hasn’t got a name yet. Maybe we should give her a nick name …. any suggestions?
Nancy: I’ve heard she was called Bjela in Rostov. That’s a nice name but since she’s new in Bärlin we could also call her ‘Nouvelle’ I’m a bit weak for French names….
Tosca: Blanche would be nice, too but there already is a Blanche in Belgium.
Kati: I would like Belinka! Just imagine how we could sing ‘Belinka, Belinka, Belinka moja …’ or maybe we could call her ‘Bellissima’….. or ‘Carissima’ or …. This is really difficult. Why don’t we ask her what she would like?
All three: OK! Driver, to Tierpark! Step on it!

Die Golden Girls sind wieder sehr beschäftigt gewesen. Man kann nicht gerade behaupten, dass sie mit ihrer Zeit nichts anzufangen wissen! Dieses Mal haben die Ladies große Pläne für eine Sightseeing Tour in Bärlin – besonders zugeschnitten auf Besucher, die die Bären besuchen. Sie ließen mich freundlicherweise Notizen machen, als sie die Tour getestet haben.
Tosca: Nun, ich denke, alles ist für die Test-Tour fertig. Bus und Chauffeur sind schon hier. Der Busfahrer wollte zuerst gar nicht kommen, aber als ich ihm mitteilte, ich würde ihn persönlich abholen, änderte er seine Meinung.
Kati:Das war sehr klug, liebe Freundin. Ich habe auch veranlasst, die Sitze zu entfernen. Kein Wunder, dass die Busse immer überfüllt sind, alle diese blöden Sitze nehmen so viel Platz weg! Jetzt können wir bequem sitzen oder stehen.
Nancy: Der Bus ist abfahrbereit, aber wir brauchen ja auch einen Reiseführer. Kati und ich haben einen sehr gut geeigneten und auch internationalen Reiseführer gefunden.
Tosca: Er sieht wirklich sehr international aus, aber er sagt ja kein Wort ….
Kati, Nancy: Wen stört das denn schon!! Die normalen Reiseführer reden wie ein Wasserfall und sie langweilen jeden mit ihren “Lektionen” …. und überhaupt, es hört ihnen ja doch niemand zu …. Unsere Spezialtour hat auch einen speziellen Reiseführer!
Tosca: Ich denke, wir beginnen unsere Tour bei Mitte Meer – dem berühmten Fischladen. Sie öffnen erstr am 30. September, aber wir dürfen schon mal reinschauen.
Alle Drei: Fahrer, immer dem Fischgeruch folgen!
Kati: Oh, das ist unser Laden. Seht euch die köstlichen Fische an.
Nancy: Eins ist mir nicht ganz klar. Wie werden wir für den Fisch bezahlen? I meine – wir können nicht Lachse mit Lachsen bezahlen.
Tosca: Liebe Nancy, das können wir natürlich nicht, deshalb glaube ich, die Fische sind alle kostenlos! Das ist die Lösung, also greift zu!! Übrigens – das Personal ist freundlicherweise schon gegangen, so haben wir den ganzen Laden ganz für uns alleine!
Kati: War das lecker, aber mein Bauch ist jetzt rund wie ein Ball …. sollen wir erst einmal ein Nickerchen machen, bevor wir unsere Tour fortsetzen?
Tosca: Das ist eine gute Idee, wir können ja im Bus schlafen.
Nancy: Girls, Zeit zum Aufwachen, um zu unserem nächsten Bus-Stop zu kommen – Nikloaiviertel!
Kati: Ich dachte, wir waren uns einig, nicht diese “normalen” Sehenswürdigkeiten zu besuchen.
Nancy: Mich interessiert diese Gegend nicht sonderlich, aber da gibt es einen großartigen Teddyladen. Wir müssen natürlich unseren Gästen die Möglichkeit anbieten, Souvenirs zu kaufen. Hoffentlich haben sie große Teddytouristen! Die Touristen sehen so niedlich aus, wenn sie uns besuchen, und ich würde gerne eine Teddyversion haben zum knuddeln.
All Drei: Was für eine Enttäuschung! Da sind ja hunderte, wenn nicht tausende Teddybären, aber kein einziger Teddytourist.
Tosca: Das bringt mich auf eine Idee! Wir machen sie einfach selber! Stellt Euch nur vor, wie viele Lachse wir bekommen, indem wir sie all’ den Bären, die uns besuchen, verkaufen!
Kati: Was kommt denn als nächstes? Oh ja, wir müssen ein Fischrestaurant besuchen. Davon gibt es nicht so viele in Bärlin, aber ich habe ein Japanisches Sushi Restaurant ausgesucht. Ich weiß nicht genau, was Sushi ist, aber wir sind ja für alles offen, oder?
Tosca: I wußte, dass wir dorthin fahren, ich habe eine kleine Überraschung für Euch – Kimonos! Laßt uns die Kimonos anziehen, dann werden sie denken, wir sind japanische Gäste.
Nancy: Oh je, warum laufen denn alle Gäste und sogar das Personal davon, wenn wir das Restaurant betreten? Natürlich, es ist sehr nett von ihnen, für uns Platz zu machen aber … Mich würde ihre Anwesenheit nicht stören.
Kati: Ist das Sushi? So klein – man braucht ein Vergrößerungsglas um sie zu sehen. Jetzt weiß ich – Sushi sind japanische Nüsse. Wir können sie genauso essen wie die Nüsse in unserem Gehege. Hihihiii ……. wirklich lustige Nüsse, aber sehr lecker.
Tosca: Ich glaube, sie brauchen etwas Hilfe bei der Leitung dieses Restaurants. Es kann nicht sehr lukrativ sein, so kleine Nüsse zu verkaufen. Lasst uns die Karte ändern!
Nancy: Tosca, du hast wirklich großartige Arbeit geleistet, aber warum hast du “Gemüse” auf die Karte geschrieben. Das wird ja alle Gäste vertreiben!! Laßt uns dieses schreckliche Wort in rot durchstreichen. Yeah, so sieht das viel besser aus.
Kati: Und jetzt? Wir haben noch keine Bäckerei besucht, aber da wir unsere Happy Croissants selber machen, glaube ich, wir werden die Bäckerei morgen besuchen.
Tosca: Der nächste Stop wird natürlich der Tierpark sein! Wir werden Aika, Troll und das neue Eisbärmädchen besuchen. Das ist das Highlight der Tour.
Kati: Wie schade, dass das Mädchen noch keinen Namen hat. Vielleicht sollten wir ihr einen Spitznamen geben … irgendwelche Vorschläge?
Nancy: Ich habe gehört, dass sie in Rostov den Namen Bjelka hatte. Das ist ein schöner Name, aber da sie neu in Bärlin ist, könnten wir sie “Nouvelle” nennen, ich habe eine Schwäche für französische Namen ….
Tosca: Blanche ist auch schön, aber in Belgien gibt es schon eine Blanche.
Kati: Mir gefällt Belinka! Stellt euch nur vor, wie wir alle ‘Belinka, Belinka, Belinka mojasingen könnten. Oder – wir könnten sie ‘Bellissima’….. oder ‘Carissima’ oder …. nennen. Es ist wirklich schwierig. Warum fragen wir sie nicht einfach, was ihr gefallen würde?

durch Deine wunderbare Geschichte über das neueste Abenteuer der Golden Girls beginnt mein Tag schon einmal mit guter Laune.
Wie schön, dass auf dieser außergewöhnlichen Bear Tour die 3 Mädels voll auf ihre Kosten gekommen sind. Es gab zwar keine Teddytouristen zu kaufen, aber dafür was Leckeres zu essen, so dass sie sicherlich nicht hungrig geblieben sind und die Kimonos sehen an ihnen aus wie direkt auf ihren begnadeten Luxuskörper geschneidert.
Was sie wohl im Tierpark erlebt haben? Wird es noch eine Fortsetzung geben? Da kann man tierisch gespannt sein.

I cannot seem to post today in the Knuipe so here is my post
The latest thread is a truly special Berlin edition of the Golden Girls. Now they have a new guest star played by Jack Lemmon or Walter Matthau? or Robert Mitchum?
Troll is now out on the main enclosure in the Zoo on his own according to Monika and Sylvia.

Apparently Troll is already making use of the glass panels to look at visitors. I am sure he will be a s big a hit as Lars used to be. Acording to Michael and Detlef in the Tierpark he is a really good natured bear.
The next news will when the little Russian lady makes her first appearance in the Tierpark. It may take time for Aika to get used to the little one. But Aika has had her own cubs and with any luck she will be like Tosca and give her new kid sister a warm welcome after an initial bit of mouth opening and growling ( see the meeting between Irka and Victoria in Zoo Bremerhaven to show how careful the bears are when they first meet).
I hope that the Zoo will not rush introducing e new male to them. But there are a lot of young cubs looking for new homes, so the pressure may be on.

Dear Mervi, what a hilarious story and conversation between the GOLDEN GIRLS you created! Thank you so much for this great pleasure. Where do you get all those ideas from? I love the manner the three of ‘our’ polar bear ladys see everything so positively: They are never astonished about the strange reactions of the humans but they always assume they are just kind or polite, when they e.g. clear the way for the three white beauties. Just lovable! I liked also the spontaneous idea of KATJUSCHA to have the driver remove the seats, as they take too much space [ funny: reminds me somehow a little girl - decades ago - that asked her mother to remove 'that green stuff, as one cannot eat it', when her mother had made a nice Christmas decoration on the table with fir branches for Christmas Eve's dinner
]. Even right menaces come in a gentle and friendly way in your stories, e.g.: “The bus driver didn’t want to come first but when I told him I was going to pick him up myself, he suddenly changed his mind.” As you yourself uses to say in comparable cases: YOU HAVE ONCE MORE OUTDONE YOURSELF!
Dear Mervi, I honestly adore your collages. The erectness of Nancy, when she asks for a ‘Teddy-Tourist’! The facial expressions of the three “gourmandises”, when they put their noses over the fisha to get it full of the delicious salmon sent! And simply hysterical: the bears in the Kimonos!!
