Plum pudding should do the trick…..

One November morning Tosca woke up and realized the 1st Advent was knocking on the door. When she looked around she wasn’t happy at all with what she saw….

advent3

Tosca: Ladies, ladies, look at this place! Soon the Christmas season begins and we’re going to have lots of visitors! We really must do something to create some ‘Stimmung’ here! Oh dear, Knuti always knew what to do…..I wish he was here to help us!

advent5

Kati: Yes, he was such a clever boy and so skilful with the decorations. I wonder where he has hidden them.

Nancy: There’s only one way to find out – we’ll have to dive into the moth and see what we can find.

Tosca: Nancy, will you do that? I will let you lend my ear if you do….. (for herself: hihihii, that always works!)

advent1

The three ladies did their best to find the decorations but without success ….. and then suddenly their eyes were dazzled by a bright light…. when they could see again they saw candles, Advent wreaths, flowers, mistletoes – you name it! They could hardly believe their eyes but then they heard a soft voice:

- Dear Mom, dear Aunties, this is my special gift to you. I wish you a happy Advent!

Tosca: Dear angel boy, thank you so much for this miracle and a happy Advent to you, too!

Nancy, Kati: You always were a darling, dear fluffy angel! Thank you so much!

Nancy: Oh, look – there’s a mistletoe! But now we have a problem – who’s going to kiss us? There are no males around…. Maybe we should hire some males to stand under the mistletoes… What do you think? Shall we put on add in KWM?

Kati: I know a certain gentleman from Oxford is coming in December and I’m well prepared.

Tosca: Do you really expect him to enter our enclosure?

Kati: They don’t call me Katie the Smartie for nothing! I know that the way to a man’s heart goes through his stomach so I phoned Auntie Eva in Texas and asked her to make a king size plum pudding. I’ve heard the English gentlemen like it… Just look at this, how can he possibly resist it??

advent6

Tosca: OK, good luck! Although I’m willing to bet there won’t be much left of it when your gentleman arrives….

Dear craws, even if I’m not always so delighted by your visits I’m in a real Christmas spirit. These Advent candles are especially for you and I promise to share my food with you, too.

advent2

Nancy: The enclosure looks really nice now. We even have an Advent calender – may I open the first window?

advent4

Tosca: OK, the enclosure is decorated. Now we must do something about our ‘höhles’, too, but that can wait. Guess what we’ve forgotten….. We have to make a list for Santa Claws – how will he otherwise know what we wish!

Nancy: I’m going to send my list to his wife Jutta Claws – she knows what a decent lady wants!

Kati: Haven’t you spelled the names wrong – you wrote Claws?

Tosca: Santa and Jutta Claws are very special Christmas characters who bring gifts to all polar bears! Santa Claus is for those funny humans…..

On behalf of Knuti’s Weekly I wish you all a happy 1st Advent!

  1. Dear Mervi!
What a charming story! It would be nice for the girls if they woud be able to decorate the enclosure. I like the Christmas tree :)
    Hugs
    Ludmila

  2. Dear, dear MERVI, I am just overwhelmed by your charming conversation between the beautiful and smart GOLDEN GIRLs and the matching collage-masterpieces. Those are beyond help, who don’t get the tender and warmhearted tone of your stories! . . . . Remember also: a right MERVI-contribution always contents a good portion of sense of humour. I love it. Thank you, dear Mervi.

  6. Dear Mervi,
the first Advent contribution in KWM in 2012 is everything: charming, lovely, wonderful funny and a bit bittersweet at the same time.

Kati, Eva and the British Gentleman in connection with the most delicious plum pudding is perfect as all the other beautiful collages are.

I think it was yesterday when I wrote in Knuipe that I can’t believe the Christmas Season has already started, but after reading this lovely Advent story I believe and know now, it had started.

Thanks, Dear Mervi to bring a Christmas atmosphere to us.

    Hugs, from caren

  7. Dear Mervi,

Absolutely wonderful!! You have everything here–humor, pathos, perfect conversation and story line and fabulous collages. Mere words fail me…. you have created a perfect start to the Christmas season! Now the stage is set for you and Ralph and all the rest to enjoy your stay in Berlin!

Thank you so much for this beautiful story!
    Hugs, Sarsam

  8. Liebe Mervi,

    Santa Claws sei Dank…….

    Herzliche Grüsse
    Crissi

  10. Dear Mervi, I do not know where you find all the fantasy for such funny stories, but again, it is a great story and a good start for the Xmas season. Hope that the ladies do get a real Xmas tree again this year (with or without decoration).

  11. Dear Mervi

Oh , such a funny story. The Golden Girl did a great job. The enclosure looks so beautifull

    Hugs

    Bea

  12. Dear Mervi

    The same to you.

And thank you for a sweet story about the golden girls and the angelbear. The enclosure looks so fine.
Wapiti and little Rose saw it too. They will also write to Santa Claws.

    Dear Monika

Thank you for the wonderful pictures.

    Have a nice weekend.

Hugs Inge and little Rose. Wapiti is sleeping.

  13. dear Mervi
what a sweet and lovely story and imagination. I wish life could be this way.
with the wonderful photos taken by Monika you have made a lovely Advent fairy tale, I hope this is the right word for Märchen. Thank you so much, dear greetings to you

  14. Dear Mervi,

What a charming story! Miracles DO happen – bis ans Ende der Zeit / forever and always.
And what a nice reminder to get ready for the miracle of Christmas with an open heart.

    Hugs,
    Bärgit

PS Call it coincidence – I just set up the Christmas arch in the window and decorated the balcony to get ready for the birthday party of our dear bear angel in time.

  15. Mervi,

What a charming story to begin the holiday season!

    LG, Christine

  16. Mervi,

What a delightful way to begin the season. It’s our first Christmas without Knut here physically, but his spirit essence is so powerful, expansive, eternal and enduring that we will each have the opportunity to experience him personally, through our love for him. This will be our Christmas miracle.

Thank you for this beautiful, evocative story.

  17. Oh what a beautiful enclosure you ladies have now!!! Knuti certainly did a fabulous job for you all. He will never forget us, remember . . . he is in our hearts forever!
KATI: I hope you like the plum pudding I send for your Special Gentleman. Should you run out, I do have a spare in the freezer for you.
TOSCA: you are the heart and soul of the Zoo Berlin Polar Bear House. You do keep everything running and in great shape.
NANCY: What would everyone do without your help getting everything in order for Advent? You are priceless.
Thank you for sharing the photos of your home all decorated for Advent.
Lots of love and Big hugs,

    Your Auntie Eva
