I think I charmed the ladies!

This story was first published on the 7th of January 2011. I think this is a suitable tribute to our Knuti and also to our Golden Girls.

……………………………

Dear friends! I’m happy to tell you that the year has started very well here in Bärlin. It looks like I’ve managed to charm the three ladies totally. Of course, everything else would be unthinkable considering what a cute bear boy I am but still …. I’m really happy about how things are at the moment.

There’s peace and harmony in our enclosure and we are all enjoying the wonderful winter.

Here’s Auntie Nancy rolling in the snow and cleaning her fur. She wants to be white and fluffy!

Tosca and I are playing together every day – sometimes in the water, sometimes in the snow.

There’s something that puzzles me. I feel like I have known Tosca since my birth but how could that be possible? I hope my Daddy would be here and explain things for me.

It often seems to me that even Tosca has same kind of ‘strange’ feelings …..

Well, the most important thing is that we have bundles of fun together!

– May I kiss your paw, Madame?

Scrubbing one’s belly against the snow is like having treatment in a spa …..

– Hello handsome, would you like to play with us?

Hihihiii ….. it looks like everybody’s in love with everybody in our enclosure …… Isn’t that wonderful or what?

I’m so glad we’re having a good time together but every now and then a bear needs a ‘nickerchen’ and that’s exactly what I’m going to have now. I wish you all a great January!

Oh, and I want to remind all my Berliner friends – be very careful on the slippery roads and streets!

Your pal Herr Knut

  1. Dear Mervi!

Thank you very much for the wonderful and hearthwarming story about Knut and the Golden Girls.
    This are unforgettable times…
Thank you too for Jessy Webb for the wonderful photos!

    Greetings
    Yeo

  2. Dear Mervi!
Thank you for the remembrance pictures. It was not really the best time in Knut’s short life.
    Hugs
    Ludmila

  3. Dear Mervi and Ludmila

I think that Knut like all teenagers found it difficult to cope with change, But there is enough] evidence
from Purzelbaums Blog amongst others that he was getting along really well with his mother, Tosca, and starting to with Nancy. I know that Kati made things hard, but she was just being Kati.
We shall never know how things might have turned out. Knut was small for a male Polar, but despite this he had Tosca’s brains and I think he was learning fast.

  4. Dear Mervi!
Yes, there were a few moments when we thought this conflation could have a happy ending…
It didn´t and Knut died prematurely.
Knut charmed everyone! Except one person…
    Bittersweet memories!
    Hugs
    Anke

  5. dear Mervi,
these are sweet and often funny words to the story, just like Knut had told it, Yes in the snow all the 4 bears had a good time. The pictures by Jessie are adorable, .
Thank you for the sweet memories. I miss so much Knut, Nancy and Tosca and I think often of our dear Katjuscha, who is now alone in the big enclosure ……
    dear greetings

  6. Oh what touching photos – memories at its best.
Not only the one and only KNUT but also his handsome mother TOSCA
    and ‘the SpICEgirs’ appear.

Thank you so much, dear MERVI for having undigged all those brillant photos.

Thank you JESSIE WEBB – may be you ‘risk’ a glance here once and a while,
hopefully you enjoy it as much as we do to see your gorgeous photos again!

    Hello DEARs ALL/e

The text beside ‘KNUT heart-framed’ says:

    “KNUT’s 121/12th monthly birthday
May be he did care there is a thin layer
of snow even in the CCC now!?”

The picture of the snow-‘covered’ roof was taken right on the 5th from the entrance to our house!

  9. Liebe Mervi,

    Monika
