Terve! Hello! Servus! Here I am again in my usual place. I’ve lent the leader to Hope and Lynn but now it’s time for me to claim the place of honour again!

In Ranua we still have Winter. Last year we had snow even in June – it remains to be seen if this Winter will last as long. Well, I’m not complaining – this is perfect for mama and me!

A gentle morning hug is a MUST! The two legged creatures want coffee in the morning – I want to be hugged by my mama.

You must agree this is a perfect start of a good day!

I’m a big boy now but mama’s milk bar is still my favourite ‘diner’ as you may notice in this photo.

We’ve been a little worried about my brother Ranzo because his girlfriend Lynn has moved to Copenhagen. We sincerely hope he’s not too sad and upset. Soon he will meet sweet Nora and we wish them a happy life together. I myself am dreaming of a certain polar bear girl in Bavaria. Can you guess who it is? 🙂

I’m a very sporty kind of guy so I’m in a very good condition. Because I wish well being for you, too, I decided to be your bearsonal trainer. Isn’t that a brilliant idea?!

My fees are very reasonable. A salmon for one hour! I can even offer an annual card for two salmons and three pumpkins. Mind you, I mean big pumpkins!

Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s start the work out!

Try to touch your hind legs with your front paws. Translated to ‘humanish’: Try to touch your toes with your finger tips.

It may not be so easy but I’m sure you will succeed.

Touch your left hind leg with your right front paw and then do the opposite ….

Repeat the exercises for some minutes ….

….. and finish the work-out session with relaxing stretching. Well done!

I’ll be more than happy to be your bearsonal trainer. Maybe my keepers will be surprised when they see my ‘clients’ doing all the exercises outside our enclosure …. 🙂

Mama, wait – don’t you want to be my first client?

Oh bear, she’s so lazy!!! She just started lying there like a polar bear …. hmmm, on second thought she IS a polar bear, hehehe ….

Oh well, here I am waiting for a long queue of visitors who want to have me as their bearsonal trainer.

While I’m waiting I’m letting my tongue do some stretching, too!

My friends in the zoo asked me to forward their best greetings to you.

Big pig love

The wolverine seems to be satisfied with the catering service.

The Siberian deers are very dear!

The musk oxes having a snack

The dholes are even called mountain wolves. No matter what we call them – they are beautiful!

I wonder what made this lynx laugh loud …. Maybe she saw a visitor doing work-out? 🙂

Finally a couple of close-ups of my face

Oh no, this owl has a nerv trying to steal the show!!! OK, it looks quite cute so I’m not angry.

Mervi always says that seeing photos of me brightens up her day. I hope they brighten up your day, too!

Best greetings from your pal Sisu

  1. Dear Mervi!
Thank you for the pictures and a lovely story from the snow Ranua. Sisu and Venus enjoy the now. Sisu’s exercises are very funny. His face is beautiful.
It is great to see more animals, who love the snow in Ranua too. The dholes look gorgeous.
    Hugs
    Ludmila

  2. You and Marko really have found a great formula for matching pictures to a story. Sisu’s exercise routine is a dream. I do not blame him for wanting to snuggle up to his mum. I used to snuggle up to Mother Ursula even when she was an old bear!
The other animals are also enjoying themselves in this magical place.
All the best to both of you from Oxford

  3. Dear Mervi and Marko!
Thank you for the great pics and descriptions of Sisu doing his gymnastic exercises and of his loving mum.
Oh bear I´m getting exhausted just watching the scene.

Sisu is a cute, eager and good tempered polar bear boy and the Ranua Wildlife Park can be proud of him for good reason.

Good to know that the other animals are able to cope with a long winter too since it will possibly last till June.
    All of them look wonderful!

    Hugs
    Anke

  4. Liebe Mervi,

    Wald gesehen. Besonders hübsch
    sind die indischen Rothunde! Der
Luchs scheint zu lachen und der
    Vielfraß wird seinem Namen
    gerecht. Die Eule ist super
    getarnt. Der Winter wird
    wohl noch etwas dauern
    im Norden Finnlands ! 🙂

    Liebe Grüße
    Chris 🙂

  6. Dear Mervi, Dear Marko

    So many wonderful winter pictures!
It is clear that the bears are happy.
But also the other animals were well staged in the white landscape.
Thank you very much and best regards,
    Anita

  7. Dear Mervi, Dear Marko,

Thank you for this nice story and beautiful photos!
Little Sisu is one very cute bear! And I think he is a happy bear, because he has so much white snow. It’s not necessary to worry about big brother! Ranzo is all right… He is in love with Nora…
The mountain wolves and this lynx seem to be happy too.

    With all the best wishes
    Evi

  9. Liebe Mervi, lieber Marko,

Very nice pics again from the wonderful winter-‘RANUA WILDLIFE PARK’, its photographer and its main protagonists. Thank you. Thanks also to you, dear MERVI
