Terve! Hello! Oh bear, the nature is flaming! No, Ranua is not of fire but the leaves have fantastic colours and in the sunshine they really are flaming! 🙂

I love the Autumn but soon my favourite season is here! That’s why I take every chance to play in the water before our pool freezes.

I take a bite and check it this is eatable ….

20180915-_T4A6163

No, this is nothing for a gourmet bear like me! 🙂

However, it’s a nice non-eatable toy and I’m having lots of fun with it.

Time to dive again! Tingeling!

This time my newsletter is not so much about me and mama. I want to present our zoo in the Autumn dress instead.

Even the parking lot looks very nice. I guess the car drivers are not looking forward to the snow as much as mama and I ….

Here’s the entry. To the left is the reception and the building with the tower hosts several shops like for instance Fazer’s candy shop. Oh bear, it’s really difficult to resist anything in that shop – so they say! 🙂

This path leads to our enclosure and on your way you can meet these cuties. 🙂

Some people believe polar bears can be seen walking on the streets in the Finnish towns. I can assure you these two giants are quite friendly ….. my mama and I are the only real polar bears in Finland. 🙂

The restaurant Wild Arctic serves local specialities. I can tell you that Mervi and Vesa loved the delicious dishes when they visited our zoo.

Environmental artwork Seven Steps to Save the Ocean – this is one of the works.

Seven Steps to Save the Ocean changes with the seasons. It is a different experience in the Summer, in the Autumn and in the Winter when the snow covers the ground.

20180925-_MG_2098

I have often thought how I would look if I had feathers. Maybe I would be as cute as this owl?

The Siberian musk deer can be found on the taigas in Siberia and in Mongolia. The musk deer prefer mountain forests and are well adapted to snowy surroundings. In the Winter the musk deer eat mainly lichen but in the Summer they may even eat also grass leaves.

This beautiful deer feels comfortable in our zoo.

The moose twins have grown a lot and soon they’ll be really big and mighty.

I’ve heard the cats always choose the perfect background when they’re being photographed. This lynx proves it’s true!!

Jemma and Malla will soon begin their journey in the Dreamland but it will take a few weeks until it’s time. Even the brownies take the last chances to swim or just take a bath.

20180915-_T4A5531

I can’t tell which one of our brownies this is but she certainly looks lovely in this fantastic surroundings.

20180915-_T4A6178

Very beautiful! I’m sure you agree.

20180915-_T4A6185

That’s all for this time but I’ll be back – and maybe I can tell about the first snow in my next newsletter. We have already have frosty nights and mornings!

Mama and I wish you all a great Autumn, Fall or whatever you call it!

Arctic hugs from your pal Sisu

  1. Liebe Mervi,

  3. Dear Mervi and Marko!
The colours are beautiful in the sun shine.
Sisu surely likes the winter not less as autumn. 🙂 Jemma and Malla look ready for the hibernation.
The moose twins have very long legs. Good to know that they would have enough food in the winter. The lynx is beautiful.
    Hugs
    Ludmila

  4. Die Fotos von Marko sind klasse ! 🙂
    schlaf anzutreten. 🙂

  5. Dear Mervi and Marko!
Thank you for bringing us Sisu´s charming thoughts about playing in the water, toys, autumn, winter, life… and these stunning photos from the Ranua Zoo.
It is always a great pleasure to watch young inventive and playful bears with a tube or barrel!

For good reason many people consider autumn as their favourite season. The Ranua Zoo and the resident animals currently look like from a book of fairytales!
Sisu and all the other animals live in beautiful surroundings, not only in autumn with its bright colours.

    Hugs
    Anke

  6. Dear Mervi and Marko,

  7. Liebe Mervi, lieber Marko,

    Monika
