Terve! Hello! Here in Ranua the Autumn is slowly turning into the Winter. The nights are already frosty with many minus degrees and even the ground is freezing. It’s still possible to swim in our pool but I guess I have to start using skaters soon! 🙂

Mama and I are enjoying the last Autumn days but we’re both looking forward to the snowy season.

As you can see the ground is frozen and looks like blackish ice.

The ground feels wonderfully cool – almost like snow ….

… and I love to roll on the ground!

I can tell you that the first snow flakes danced in the air on the 6th of October. Mama and I were, of course, ‘deliriously happy’. Unfortunately the snow melted away but mama promised me it will come back to stay soon!

Oh bear, I’m already planning all kinds of activities on the snow and on the ice!

Planning is rather exhausting ….

…. so I take a short nap.

OK! Now I’m ready for the Winter! Welcome to Ranua, King Bore! 🙂

As usual I want to present some of my friends in our zoo.

The Siberian deers must have seen something very interesting.

This is Max. Doesn’t he look impressive?!

Even the birds are taking every chance to swim around in their pool before it freezes.

The utter is cleaning his pool and taking his yellow friend to a Winter den. 🙂

Some bodycare ….

….. and after all the cleaning it’s time for a back stroke.

The sun shows occasionally but the days are much shorter now. Malla enjoys the sun rays as long as she can.

This dole must be pleased with what he saw in the ‘mirror’!

The wolves has an excellent camouflage fur ….

…. it’s not always so easy to see them in the woods but, of course, Marko has managed to take fantastic photos of them.

Small but very cute!

One of the last leaves on the trees

Maybe it fell on the nose of the beaver …..

Time to start waiting for more snow. I wish all the readers of Knuti’s Weekly a happy Before-Winter time!

Bear hugs from your pal Sisu

  1. Liebe Mervi,
    lieber Marko,

Sisu erwartet den Winter so sehnsüchtig wie Kinder auf Weihnachten warten.
Groß ist er geworden, aber den Schalk hat er immer noch im Nacken, der
    kleine Raeuber in Ranua!

  3. Mervi
On the first really cold morning we have had here, I am delighted to have this album of Sisu and his friends.
He really is a fine looking bear, and his name is now very suitable.

  4. Dear Mervi, Marko and Sisu,

Great pictures of a nice bear- thank you so much!

The winter will arrive soon, and it’s a real winter in Ranua!
Only a little bit of patience, a lovely small bear-boy!

The other animals are also cute.

  5. Dear Mervi and Marko!
Thank you for these smashing and heart-warming photos and most suitable subtitles.

Sisu is a very charming and playful young polar bear. I loved the pics of this fun-loving bearboy.

All photos are simply pieces of art and set these beautiful animals in the right light.
I especially liked the impressive musk ox Max, the cute otter with his rubber duckie, the sun-bathing Malla and the pretty dole at the edge of his water basin.

It´s quite understandable that Sisu can´t wait for the arriving of winter, but I would like fall to stay a little longer…

  6. Dear Marko und Mervi

Thank you for the fantastic shots of the animals in the north.
Hard to believe, that they have the snow – here we have still
summelike temperatures. Now for the polar bears the happy
season starts – snow and ice is much appreciate. I am sure,
the other beautiful animals also will have a good time
during the coming winter month. 🙂

    Chris 🙂

  8. Dear Mervi and Marko!
The pictures from the zoo Ranua are wonderful. Sisu is a big bear now. I am curious how long he will stay with his mother together.
The Siberian deers are lovely. Max looks really impressive 🙂
The otters enjoy the swimming. Malla looks round enough for the hibernation.

  9. Dear Mervi and Marko

Thank you so much for your lovely threat!!!
I wish Sisu a nice frosty winter.

  10. terve dear Sisu,
I can understand that you are lookimg forward to the winter time but I think also the summer was nice for you and maybe also the golden October. You had such a joy in your nice pool. But yes for a Boy like you the snow is great
You and your dear Mama and all your lovely friends are looking so good and also Malla is a nice bear Lady. I wish all of you a wonderfil Wintertome
dear Mervi and dear Marko thank you so much for the nice up date from Ranua
    dear greetings

  11. Dear Sisu, yes indeed, Winter is coming earlier to your place than to ours. You can (or most probably, already have) look forward to the first snow. It is wonderful to see how your other friends are dealing with shorter days and/or preparing for Winter time.
But nevertheless, again I am having my doubts about your gender. You really do not show the specific details for being a boy and at your age, these details should be very clear.

  12. Liebe Mervi, lieber Marko,

  13. SISU the most happy bear in the world – at least that’s the impression he gives from MARKO’s photos.

But also the other animals are pure joy to see,
as they are ALL real beauties and obviously ‘happy’ (however, one never knows exactly)
as much as MARKO’s pics are really extra-gorgeous!

Thanks to MARKO JUNTTILA and to MERVI for the editorial work and for always sharing her treasures with us.
