Terve! Hello! It’s me – your pal Sisu writing again. We still have a wonderful Winter here in Ranua with lots of snow and frost. However, I know that the Spring will come even here so I try to enjoy the white season as much as possible.

I have some great news for you, too! Mama and I are now living in separate enclosures. She thought I’m big enough to have my own room.

Before I left mama we had a long cuddling hour.

Oh mama, I love you so much but I know it was time for me to leave you. Well, I’m not so far away ….. not yet anyway. If and when I have to leave Ranua I hope I can move to a nice zoo in Europe – maybe with a polar bear girl whose name begins with the letter ‘Q’ ……

I must say I’m a bit confused staying alone in this enclosure  but I’m doing my best to get used to my ‘single life’.

Of course, I must check everything very thoroughly.

Yikes, this branch isn’t very yammy. I guess it’s not ment to be eaten.

Before I finish this newsletter I want to show you a couple of nice photos.

I’m not sure if this utter is Olli or Harri but he’s very cute.

My piggy friends feel like cuddling.

The lynx is admiring his shadow in the snow.

The swans have already Spring feelings.

The birdies had a visitor

The Spring is knocking even at our door but we can still admire the northern lights in the sky. With this fantastic sight I write bye-bye for now but I hope I’ll be back soon.

Yours bearily, Sisu

  1. Terve! . . . What a comfort to get to know after a few lines that you didn’t leave your mama VENUS not yet completely. Just change into another room – that’s acceptable for the time being, isn’t it!?, dear lovely beauty SISU.

How kind of you to leave lots of sweet SISU-kisses to you mama! Love all the pics – those of the both of you as much as those of your pretty neughbors (the lynx shadow is my favorite today 🙂

    Thanks for another lovely SISU-MERVI-MARKO-cooperation.

  2. Is the FAZER-factory/-shop in your neighborhood. Pay attention to your good looks. Fazer-choclates are tempting! Just ask your auntie MIRJA and unklie RISTO! 😉 🙂

  3. Dear Mervi and Marko!
Although we all know this separation has to come finally, it always feels a bit sad when little polar bears have to leave their mothers…
Thank you for these touching pics! What a sweet Good Bye there was between Venus and Sisu.
I wish this handsome and funloving young bear a good new home and a wonderful future, perhaps with a nice young polar bear lady who´s name begins with the letter Q…

I loved the other photos too, especially those of the whooper swans.

  4. Dear Dumba,

The Fazer shop is just outside the entry to the Ranua Zoo. As you can imagine we never left the area without bags filled with chocolates. 🙂

  5. Dear Sisu, time is running soo fast. Yesterday by way of saying, you were a baby and now already living on your own. I also hope that you can find a good place in another European zoo and having a dear friend whose name is starting with a Q. Looking forward to good news.

  7. Dear Mervi!
Thank you for the winter pictures from Ranua. Sisu is a big boy now and has to live without his mama. I hope he will get enough toys to stay busy.

  8. terve dear Sisu
I knew this moment would come soon but now when I read it, some little tears are in my eyes
but of course you are now a big bear boy and you will find your way, you had a wonderful time with your dear Mama and I am glad you are still in Ranua and when the time is here I hope you will come to a nice Zoo and maybe there will be a sweet bear girl…

dear Mervi thank you for sharing with us and for the nice text
all the best to Venus and Sisu
    big paw waves to all

  9. Liebe Mervi,

  11. Oh, Sisu, dear, you are a big Bear Boy already!
Of course, you would sometimes like to have the mother’s milk.., but I can tell you, that your brother’s girlfriend Nora was much younger of you, when she had to start her independent life…
I wish you all the best and I hope you will enjoy your life without mother soon!
    Dear Mervi and Marko,
Thank you for this nice article!

  12. Dear Mervi and Marko
Sisu has become a teenager and must start his own life. He looks well able to cope.
Even if he does not manage to get together with a certain lady from Munich, he might meet her brother in Doncaster!
    Marko’s photos are superb

  13. Liebe Mervi, lieber Marko,
