Please, say welcome to our three new elephants that will move from the Zoo Cologne (Köln) to our zoo on Thursday the 12th of September! The elephants come from the Zoo Cologne (Köln).

The newcomers will first stay separated from the elephants already living in the zoo. They can get acquainted with each other by listening and smelling. Hopefully we will soon be able to let them all stay together.

Thiha Phyu was born in 1980 and she’s the oldest of the elephants.

Thiha Phyu is the mother of Maha Kumari born in 2007.

The youngest of the trio is the male Jung Bul Kne born in 2017. His mother is Maha Kumari so we have a grandmother, a mother and a son in the new group.

Young Plaisak doesn’t know there are new ‘clan members’ coming – he enjoys a nice bath. Hopefully he and Jung Bul Kne will be good friends!

The three lion cubs have made their entry outdoors – of course, accompanied by their mother.

The leopard kittens are about three months old now. They were chipped and vaccinated last week and as you can guess they didn’t appreciate that kind of treatment. 🙂

All polar bear cubs love to make themselves look like brown bears and Imaq is no exception. 🙂 In only seconds flat she changes the colour of her fur – and as quickly she changes it back to ‘normal’ again. Our white fluffy friends are really like chameleons.

  1. Dear Mervi
I still have a pile of Denmark reports to do from August so it is great to see these news items from Copenhagen Zoo.
The Cologne elephant facility was one I visited in 2003 so it is good to see the link with Copenhagen.
Thanks to Inge I saw the baby Leopards and Lions.
Imaq has grown a lot since my image of little cub in April.

  2. Liebe Mervi,

wir werden bestimmt noch öfters von dem Kölner Elefantentrio in Kopenhagen hören.
Mich wundert allerdings sehr, dass man Maha Kumari mit ihrem jungen Sohn schon so
früh in eine andere Herde integrieren will….

    Britta-Gudrun

  3. Dear Mervi!
Hopefully the three elephants from the Cologne Zoo will get used to their new home soon.
For sure it is helpful that they are closely related and know each other well. I´m sure the kids Kne and Plaisak will play together. I wish them all the best!

All little ones in the videos are adorable, whether the lion cubs, the leopards or frisky young Quillak.
Thank you for bringing these sweet pics and videos to us!

    Hugs
    Anke

  4. Thanks for showing, dear Mervi. Let`s hope all the best for the elephants and for all the new small ones.

The blue Planet have also received new animals, 2 small found seaotters /no mothers to be seen. There are two small videos about them on the Blue Planets homeside.

    Good night from Copenhagen
    Inge

  5. Liebe Mervi,

Die Videos schaue ich mir aus Zeitgründen später an.
    Danke fürs Zeigen.

    Liebe Grüße
