Copenhagen – Inuvik’s first day in the Arctic Ring

The 17th of July was a special day for Nöel’s baby girl Inuvik. For the first time she could enter the enclosure connected to the Arctic Circle in the zoo.

The keepers wanted to be sure Inuvik is big enough for swimming and diving in the bigger pool.

Of course, Inuvik was very curious and examined every corner of the enclosure very thoroughly. The donated snow has melted but there was nice mulch where the ice princess could roll and have a total ‘make-over’. 🙂

Because the pool is much bigger here compared to the one in the old enclosure Inuvik sometimes lost sight of her mother.

She started screaming in panic but luckily mama Nöel was back in seconds flat to comfort her daughter.

From now on Nöel and Inuvik will stay in the Arctic Ring for 2-3 days and then it’s time again for Lynn and Imaq to occupy the enclosure. The polar bears will be changing enclosure so it will also be kind of enrichment for them.

  1. Thank you very much for having brought these entrtaining pics and the video of COPENHAGEN ZOO to us KWM-readers/watchers.

It’s so heartwarming to see how all relief surrounds child and mama ‘after the reunification’ ‘awwww…..!’ 🙂

Das Video ist besonders gelungen: Something of everything . . .!
SEHR NETT!

  2. Dear Mervi!
Thank you for the update about Noel and Inuvik in Copenhagen!
It is great that Inuvik learns to swim and dive in the big pool now.
In Germany we call the first test of the ability to swim in deep water “Seepferdchen”. So Inuvik made her “Seepferdchen” and she was a brave girl although she was calling out for her mom when she lost sight of her…

I had a good laugh about her look after she rolled around in the mulch.

  3. Liebe Mervi,

  4. Dear Mervi it seems hardly any time at all since I was filming Imaq in the Arctic Ring. Now it is Inuvik who will get to meet visitors underwater at the glass

If the situation permits I am looking at doing the Euroramble by train I planned in March in September.

  5. Liebe Mervi,

    Alles Liebe, Erika
