Olinka and Wolodja are enjoying lazy Summer days in the Rotterdam Zoo. They live in separate enclosures for the time being but the grass is green in both enclosures. 🙂

Olinka inspecting her garden.

She seems to be satisfied with what she saw.

When Nel visited the zoo Wolodja was taking things very easy.

Maybe the warm weather made our ‘Teddy’ very sleepy.

To freshen up your memory here’s the ‘history in nut shell’ of Olinka:

Born on the 21st of November 1992 in Köln (Mother: Olga, Father: Omaha)

21.11.1992 – 18.03.1994 Köln

Olinka has found a nice place in the shadow.

Even Wolodja has moved a lot …..

Born on the 27th of November 2011 in Moscow (Mother: Simona, Father: Vrangel)

While Wolodja was resting Olinka was active in the water. Of course, a real lady must take a look in the mirror every now and then. 🙂

Even an elderly polar bear lady likes to play with toys!

Wolodja was visiting the Napland 🙂

I wonder if he was dreaming of a big salmon ….

Even though Wolly and Olinka don’t live together they both show same kind of behaviour. 🙂

  1. Dear Mervi and Nel
Thank you for being able to see Volodya and Olinka again.
I was able to see Vlody in Zoo Berlin just before he left for Rhenen. He was busy constructing piles out of his toys.
Olinka was one of the first Polar Bears I visited at Gelsenkirchen in November 2006. She accompanied her daughter, Lara. from Vienna.
    Both are very elegant bears.

  2. Liebe Mervi,
    lieber Nel,

    Britta-Gudrun Nau

  3. Dear Mervi and dear Nel!
Thank you for the news of Olinka and Wolodja. I am astonished that they are separated since I supposed it was planned that they would live together.
Anyway, both look gorgeous. All photos are great and some are really funny.
I loved especially the underwater pics and the last two “head beneath the water surface” pics.

In my opinion both bears did move too often. Frequent general anaethetics may cause serious health damages!

    Tot ziens
    Hugs
    Anke

  7. I love the both of them!

OLINKA remained always quite familia to me becuae I found her such a most loving mother with her twins ‘water bear’ and ‘land bear’ in Vienna.

And WOLODJA is unforgettable to us since his presence in ZOO and in TIERPARK BERLIN where he reminded us several times a lot of KNUTi!

Thanks for reporting about this now ‘ROTTERDAM-couĂĽle’. Hoepefully they can be together soon and they will love or at least respect each other and enjoy each other’s company.

  8. Thank you very much dear Mervi and Nel.
Best wishes to Olinka and Wolodja.

  9. dear Nel, thank you for your wonderful pictures
dear Mervi, thank you for sharing these very nice pictures with us, it is a big joy to see both bears in a good mood
Olinka and Wolodja are looking good, maybe one day both can be together in their enclosures, the places look cosy. I have seen Wolodja in Zoo Berlin in November 2018 and there he liked the swimming very much
    dear greetings
    Filomena

  10. I think Wolodja and Olinka both look good !!!
I am very happy to see something of both of them again. I like the enclosure in Rotterdam very much and both bears seem to feel comfortable.
Thanks for the nice pictures, dear Nel.

    Hugs
    Anita
