Being cool is a piece of cake for the polar bear family in Novosibirsk

4.8.2020 – Photos by Arkadi Laptenko

Oh bear, it’s been – and still is – an unusually hot Summer in Novosibirsk! However, our white fluffy friends know how to cope with the heat.

Gerda, Nordi and Shauna are making plans for some not so energy consuming activities for the day.

The first decision was to move to a more comfortable and cooler ‘conference room’.

Kai is curious and obviously eavesdropping …. 🙂

Nordi wants to show you his divings skils. Please, notice the elegant start position ….

…. and here he goes! If there were judges I’m sure they would all give 10 points – or maybe even more!

Of course, there are some arguments about the yellow toy ….

…. but Gerda has taught her twins to share their toys.

Ready for back stroke!

It’s so fun to just float and let the water carry you.

Mama, how did we do?

Dear kids! I’m really proud of you!

Mama, we want our rewards now!

OK, come here, sweeties and mama will give a kiss on your noses.

It looks like the family is lined up for a swimming competion. 🙂

The race is on!

Gerda is a wise mother and declared that Nordi and Shauna are both winners!

Synchronized swimming

Aren’t they sweet?!

Nose to nose – with their mouths shut for a change. 🙂

Finally a couple of really cool photos

We were actually quite active today but in the next report you will see how we can be totally relaxed, too! We wish all the readers of Knuti’s Weekly a most pleasant August!

From Russia with love – Gerda, Kai, Nordi and Shauna

  1. Dear Gerda

What a charming family you three are. You should be really proud of your twins.
I thank you for being so patient with Arkady and for allowing him to take such great pictures of you.

  3. Dear Mervi and Arkadij!
Wow, what a refreshing post! Thank you!
I suppose at the end of this week, when there are predicted temperatures over 30° C in Berlin I will watch these water games green with envyy.

I´m happy for the bears that they can cool down in fresh and clean water.
They all look fabulous, good-tempered and frisky. The photos are simply marvellous!
I loved them in their cool ‘conference room as well while synchronized swimming or while diving and playing with their toys
Nevertheless I hope this heat wave will end quickly!

    Stay cool and healthy too!

Shauna und Nordi sind schon so groß wie Gerda und ich freue mich dass die Mutter noch ihre großen
