A lesson in polarbearology – How to break a barrel
Nov 13th, 2020 | By mervi | Category: Novosibirsk13.10.2020 – Photos by Arkadi Laptenko
The snow melted away but the polar bear family in Novosibirsk are welcoming a new day anyway! Checking each other’s furs is an important morning routine.
What shall we do today?
I have an idea!
Why don’t we show our visitors how a plastic barrel gets another shape? Maybe we will get a jo at the Polar Bear Academy when everybody sees how skilful we are.
This is the original white barrel. Hmm, it serves well as a hat ….
….. but I’m a polar bear and I just have to break it!! đ
You need strong paws! I think this is a mission impossible for the two legged creatures but this certainly isn’t a challenge for me.
Here’s the result of my efforts. Fantastic – don’t you agree?
Now it’s your turn to have the nice head wear.
After the excellent lesson in polarbearology it’s time for other kind of entertainment.
Shall I help you?
A very interesting kind of landing đ
Shauna and Nordi are waiting for the ice but the blue water isn’t so bad either.
Isn’t it great to be a polar bear! We look gorgeous and we are very intelligent, too!
Our visitors say that our cute faces melt their hearts. Let’s hope our cuteness won’t melt the ice when our pool freezes!!!
The magpies never wait for an invitation to a dinner. Gerda doesn’t seem to mind the feathered intruders. đ
Even Kai totally ignores the cheeky magpies.
What’s papa doing now?
Papa Kai is having a bath and looking very happy. Isn’t that a lovely smile? It makes him look like a young cubbie.
Of course, even light wrestling is on this day’s schedule.
It’s been a busy day so even the most energetic bear gets tired. The eye lids are getting heavier ….
… and heavier – and the bear has entered the Napland of sweet dreams.
The whole family is having a nap.
Thank you for watching! Please, stay tuned – we’ll be back soon!
Thank you very much dear Mervi and Arkadij.
Best wishes to Gerda, Kai, Shauna and Nordi.
Dear Mervi and Arkadij!
Thank you for this helpful lesson how to be creative with a plastic barrel.
Next time when I want to do the same and plan to change the shape of a big white barrel, I will remember this lesson… đ
Gerda, Kai and her kids are doing well, have fun and hopefully the next snow will fall before long.
Thank you for these great photos and the fitting captions!
Hugs
Anke
Die Fotos sind mal wieder absolut köstlich !
Wie sich die Zwillinge auf die Steine flÀzen
oder sich necken. Es werden SprĂŒnge
gezeigt und im Wasser gebalgt. Man
hat den Eindruck, dass trotz der
limitierten Bedingungen in dem
relativ engen Gehege, alle
munter und fröhlich sind.
Danke fĂŒr das schöne
Bildmaterial ! đ
Dear Arkadij!
Your pictures are wonderful.
Hugs
Ludmila
Vielen lieben Dank wieder fĂŒr die schöne Familienstory, freu mich schon auf die nĂ€chste!
LG Brigitte.
Dear Arkadij
Your lovely pictures inspire me again.
The siblings are always two, are always fun to have and always active.
Mama Gerda has a lot to do with always keeping an eye on her two.
I am glad to see that Kai is doing well and that he does not suffer from separation with Gerda.
Thank you so much for your charming threat.
Hugs,
Aniat
Dear Mervi and Arkadij
Novosibirsk is definitely a centre of Polarbearology. Thank you for the combination of words and pictures which illustrate Kai, Gerda, Nordi and Shauna learning and playing.
