Today the Ranua Wildlife Park announced that Sisu has moved to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster, England. The move was recommended by the coordinator of EAZA.

Sisu started his journey on the 10th of December by car and then by ferry to England. He arrived in YWP on the 13th of December. The journey went well and Sisu is already making friends with Hamish as many of you have seen in photos in Facebook.

Unfortunately I’m not allowed to use the photos from FB yet but I hope there will be a generous photographer even in YWP just like in many other zoos.

Dear Sisu boy! I wish you all the best and hope you will be happy in your new home. I also hope you and the other guys in YWP will be good friends.

I’m glad you could enjoy at least a couple of weeks of snow and ice in Ranua.

  1. Dear SISU,

I wish you a happy life with the other young Bear Boys at YWP !
I’m sure, you’ll get some GOOD FRIENDS to enjoy playing with ..!

    Your Friend ARON
    from France

  2. Liebe Mervi,

    Liebe Gruesse, Erika

  4. ALLES GUTE SISU !
    Du wirst dich in York-
    shire schnell einleben
    und neue Freunde fin-
    den. Leben geht weiter.

  5. Dear Mervi!
What a pity that Sisu had to leave his home in his favourite season. Ranua is namely a winter wonderland at the moment.
But perhaps there will be wintertime as it should be for a polar bear in Yorkshire too – at least for a while…
And Sisu can make friends with some other bears what means a new experience for him.
Hopefully some nice visitors in YWP will allow you to bring their current photos of your viking in KWM!

I wish this handsome and beloved young bear all the best in his new home!

    Hugs
    Anke

  6. Dear Mervi!
I think Sisu will have a good time in YWP with the new friends.
    Hugs
    Ludmila

  7. Dear Mervi
I know how special Sisu is to you.
Apart from Orsa (where Wilbaer might be a bit jealous) YWP has the best facilities for a young Polar Bear.
As you write, YWP does not publish many official photographs and relies on two Facebook sites where fans publish their own photographs. I am sure that we will be able to find someone willing to let you use their photos in Knutis Weekly.

  8. Sisu had a very long journey. What a stress for him.
But he can also consider himself lucky that his new home is the YWP.

    Dear Mervi

It’s never easy to let a beloved bear go. I hope you will be comforted to know that we are always hearing and seeing new things from Yorkshire.

    Warm greetings,
    Anita

  9. 3 days in an animal appropriate removal box!? omg, dearest SISU!
Always when I am aware that animals have to follow sensible changes of their peronal living conditions without a chance to decide something for themselves (we cannot really explain something to them after all!), even I don’t feel well with all those (mostly necessary) zoo decisions/occurrances and our visits with leaving next to no privacy to all those lovely creatures there . . .

It’s also strange it doesn’t make really sense to talk to you personal today, as it was not you to write/report.
Anyway, I say my usual “TERVE!” to you, wishing that you are not too much puzzeled and that no staying damages on your ‘soul’ will pop up and that contrary you will feel at ease again very soon in your new surroundings and with your new pals.

Thanks to you, dear Mervi and to RANUA WILDLIFE PARK (RWP) for having kept us informed about facts and your thoughts. We will miss seeing SISU in RANUA, this wonderful place and we will miss MARKO JUNTTILA’s gorgeous star-pics of SISU and his neighbours and the magnificant landscape there!

All the best to everybody/evry furwearer in RANUA/FINLAND, YWP-Doncaster/GB, and all around!

  10. Wie man sehen kann, wurde Sisu gut aufgenommen
in Yorkshire – übrigens auch Luka hat bereits
Anschluss gefunden – Stephen King liefert
da Bilder bei Facebook. Also alles im
    grünen Bereich ! 😀

  11. Thank you very much dear Mervi.
    Best wishes to Sisu.
