Russia – Polar bear twins born
Jan 13th, 2021 | By mervi | Category: News from the Bear World13.1.2021 – Source: Safari-Park Gelendzhik
Twin cubs were born in November in the Safari-Park Gelendzhik. I don’t know the exact date.
The mother (whose name I don’t know) gave birth to the twins in the enclosure – not in the den – and abandoned them immediately. The babies have been hand raised and they are both developing well.
The cubs are a boy and a girl.
The sweeties are now 6 weeks old and have opened their eyes – the next step will be teething.
I wish the babies all the best and hope to get more information soon.
Dear Mervi!
The babies are very cute. The father is Commodore Sedov, he was born in Sankt Petersburg in 2002.
The mother is Serjoska, she was born 2013 on Nowaja Semlja. In 2014 she came to the wetter station without her mother. She was rescued and came in the Safari-Park Gelendzhik.
I hope the babies will grow strong.
Hugs
Ludmila
Ach Gottelchen – ich würde sagen
Niedlichkeitsfaktor eins-plus ! 😀
Die Beiden sind ja zu süß. Dann
hoffen wir mal, dass die Hand-
aufzucht gelingt und sie 🙂
wachsen und gedeihen !
Im Video sieht man,
dass die Bärchen doch
schon recht aktiv sind. 🙂
Nur die Hinterbeinchen
versagen noch den Dienst.
Aber das wird bald besser.
Dear Ludmila,
Thank you for the information about the babies’ parents!
Dear Mervi!
What a pity for the little ones that they were abandoned by their mother.
Fortunately they were found in time and they are two. At the moment they can cuddle and later play with each other
I wish the babies all the best and keep my fingers crossed for them!
Hugs
Anke
Die allerbesten Wünsche für diese beiden allerliebsten Knuffels, auch für die Pfleger!
Liebe Grüße von Brigitte.
Dear Mervi and Ludmila
Thank you for this lovely story of the new cubs.
They look gorgeous and are growing fast. Their
Mum lost her Mum in the wild, so it is good that humans were around to rescue them.
Die beiden sind ja suess! Den Baerchen und ihren Pflegern alles Gute.
Liebe Gruesse, Erika
Absolutely precious. And they have a very good photographer. We can expect more precious updates from them, I think!
It reminds me of the photos of young Flocke.
OMG! – Those two cubs are heartbrakingly cute.
But as Britta-Gudrun already mentioned this morning in ‘Die Knuipe’:
“Hand raising polar bear cubs is always quite a challenge for the keepers in charge AND for the cubs.”
That’s an astonishing new story: I – and I believe the majority of us – have never heard that a polar bear mother had given birth to her cub/s outsaid of her den of whatsoever kind it might have been!
Especial good luck to the two heartbreakers AND to the certainly loving keepers. GOOD LUCK! to them ALL/e!
To LUDMILA:
Bertas ‘KBT’-
Sonntagsgeschichten passen! 😉
To MOLLY:
Also I thought automatically of FLOCKE when watching the Video 🙂
Thank you very much dear Mervi.
Best wishes to the babies and their mum.
MOLLY – I also have thought about the first days of Flocke on her towel. 🙂
Dear All, what a wonderful sweet story. I hope that both cubs will grow strong and healthy. Their story reminded me both of Knut and Flocke. First Knut, who together with his twin brother was born outside the den and immediately rejected by Tosca. Thomas Dörflein kept an eye on the situation and took both babies away as soon as possible. Unfortunately, Knut’s twin brother died after a few days. And then, sweet Flocke, she was born in the den, but because Vera was disturbed and nervous, she was brought her out of this den and Vera dropped her on the stairs. At that moment, Nuremberg interfered and took the baby away, but we all will remember that the keepers told that Vera has been crying for days for her little baby. And yes, the pics of the babies on the towel is soo similar to the pictures of the good old days.
Danke für die Info mit den süssen Zwillingen. Wünsche den Pflegern viel Erfolg bei der Aufzucht. Vor allen Dingen das es ihnen gelingt das sie überleben.
Bear Hugs
Gudrun
