Als wir am Nachmittag (29 Juni) wieder bei den Eisbären eintrudelten wunderten wir uns, dass trotz der sengenden Hitze und zwei schlafender Bärinnen relativ viele Leute dort standen.

One of Knuti’s favourite ‘play mates’ were Papi’s old pants and he certainly knew how to entertain himself with them.

Once there was a keeper who was getting weaker. Ever now and then he was so weakened that he dropped a pail into the water. Very much to Knut’s delight. Does anyone remember this keeper?

Am Nachmittag (10.5.2011) kam Herr Röbke mit Zweigen zum Gehege. Er warf sie ins Wasser und schaute erwartungsvoll auf die Drei, die auch neugierig waren.

Our darling Knuti was a master of disguising himself as a black bear. In a seconds flat the white fur was turned to black. He always seemed so pleased with himself after having done the new ‘make-up’. What a funny little chameleon he was!

Our beloved Knuti had many nicknames – Puschelkeks, Knuti schatzele, Zauberbär, Knuti Pie, Honey paw, His fluffiness, Knutilein ….. when we look at these beautiful photos it’s easy to understand we wanted to find new ways to describe how wonderful we found our boy.
