Our Dear Pal Knut!

Wir leben hier in Hellabrunn sehr zufrieden. Unseres neues Haus, oder mehr Villa ist sehr angenehm. Auch Giovanna ist sehr zufrieden.
We are living here in Hellabrunn very contentedly. Our new home, or it’s more a villa, is very comfortable. Also Giovanna is very happy.

Zwischen uns Männer- wie Du weisst- sie ist nicht immer zufrieden.. Wir mögen sehr viel unseres Mulchbett. Sorry, vielleicht sollte ich nicht solche  intime Sachen meinen. Aber es ist nur so grosse Freude im Mulch zu herumtoben und……
Between men – as you know- she is not always contented. We do love this mulchbed. Sorry, maybe I shouldn’t tell in public about these intimate things, however, it is such great fun to romp in this mulch and …..

Giovanna und ich sind sehr dankbar, dass wir konnten in Bärlin während unseres Villas Umbau verbringen. Und jetzt wollten Dich, Aika und Troll bärenherzig bedanken.
Giovanna and I, we are very grateful that we could stay in Bärlin during re-construction of our villa. And now we would like to say thank you to you, Aika and Troll.

Hier in Muenchen organisiert jedes Jahr YOGHBÄRFEST. Es bedeutet im Zelt Knutsteiner zu drinken. Es ist auch Möglichkeit Eierlikör zu drinken. Blääh.
In Munich we annually organize Yoghbearfeast. That means drinking Knutsteiner in a tent. There is also the possibility to drink advocaat. Bääh.

Natuerlich gibt es auch viel Weisswurst und Breezle. Wir haben ein Bärzelt gemietet. Dort können wir zusammen mit unseren menschliche Freunden Bier trinken, singen und plaudern.
Of course, there is a lot of Bavarian Veal Sausage and Breezle. We have rented a bear tent. There we can drink, sing and talk to and with our two-legged friends.

Du, wie Aika und Troll, können natuerlich bei uns uebernachten. Auch Flocke und Raspi kommen aus Antibes. Sie uebernachteten auch bei uns.
You, Aika and Troll can certainly stay overnight. Flocke and Raspi will come, too. They’ll stay overnight, too.

Sie haben immer noch so viel Sehnsucht nach Nuernberg. Vielleicht diskutieren wir darueber.
They still are homesick. Maybe we could discuss this.

Giovanna hat schon Dirndl gekauft. Ich muss Morgen  mir neue Lederhosen kaufen. Ich glaube Flocke will auch ein neues Dirndl kaufen. Sie ist immer so eifrig nach der Mode. Ich weiss es nicht, vielleicht braucht Raspi grössere Lederhosen. Lieber Knut ! Wie ist Deine Grösse?. Du brauchst auch Lederhosen.
Giovanna has already bought a Dirndl. Tomorrow I will have to go and buy new Lederhosen. I think Flocke also wants a new Dirdl. She is very keen on the latest fashion. I do not know, maybe Raspi also needs new Lederhosen. Dear Knut! Which size do you wear? You also need new Lederhosen.

Are you coming together with Aika and Troll? How will you be travelling?

Wild West Heroes complete with Villains, Damsels, Dashing Young Knights and All the other Parts (ATOP)

Part I

A damsel – but not just a damsel, this damsel is the most utterly beautiful and charming damsel ever EVER seen (played by Miss Gus – note star billing) is challenged and chased by a Wild Prairie Dog/Most Dirty and Dastardly Villain of the Worstest Possible Kind that you can EVER imagine/Charging Horse (the one and only TOM – don’t ever call me Tom Kitten again for I am not!) and All the other parts (ATOP)/extras/scenery/refreshments/make-up/hair and costume changes (Sydney Butterball Cat Detective).

One vaguely sunny morning (the sun has to be imagined a little) the damsel was attending to her toilette – nails, fur, necklace and thinking about whether to eat one tiny piece of meat or perhaps two biscuits and which way to lie on the rug for best effect WHEN along came the VILLAIN (his full title must be summarised due to time constraints). Suddenly, the damsel found herself in extreme and certain danger of life, death and bad fur day! Being of very small and delicate build (and, I have been asked to add – very thin) and most certainly not able to put up a fight against such a VILLANEOUS VILLAIN DARK KNIGHT, all that the damsel could do was RUN – run like the wind with her tail flowing behind her. The Villain chased and chased and huffed and puffed and suddenly, out of nowhere appeared ATOP; “Heeeaaaallllp” gasped our little heroine! “Hello Damsel, is it nearly breakfast time?” said ATOP.

“Must you always think of your stomach at a time like this?” retorted the damsel, most exasperated with ATOP; “in fact, if you must know, you should concentrate on your stomach, you are in serious need of some abs work, now you have taken up quite enough of my time and had your ‘tip of the day’, I must escape the VILLAIN, if you hadn’t noticed!”. ATOP was a little taken aback by all this but being of an amiable nature decided not to say anything much at all.

In the meantime, the VILLAIN had caught up with the damsel (after having collided with his Dad who was coming out of the bathroom and having had a quick flop and a tummy rub). “HA damsel, I have you in my clutches!!!” hissed the VILLAIN most menacingly!

Wild West Heroes (Part II)

Cast:
The most utterly beautiful and charming damsel ever EVER seen – Miss Gus
Wild Prairie Dog/Most Dirty and Dastardly Villain/Charging Horse – Tom
All the other parts (ATOP)/extras/scenery/refreshments/make-up/hair and costume changes – Sydney Butterball Cat Detective

Well dear reader, we last saw our little (uber-thin) and very beautiful heroine in such utter danger and in fear of her life not to mention her hairdo with the dastardly villain closing in on her. ‘Heeeeelllllppp!’ the damsel cried but to no avail! Then a strange whooshing noise was to be heard – she looked up anxiously, surely nothing else could go wrong – after all it was only just after breakfast time!

The damsel jumped up onto the banisters and then, bravely for it was a huge leap for the small one, leapt up to the sky light! She hung for a moment and then re-gained her balance and climbed through onto the roof. She blinked in the bright sunlight – damn in the chase she had lost her Prada shades – and there on the roof was a carpet, draped in huge, fluffy green blankets – and also a Captain wearing a peaked cap. ‘Morning ma’am, I was just on my way to collect Miss Flocke for a shopping trip when I heard your cries, hop on up and tell me all about it”.

Our little heroine did not hesitate – escape from the Villain and a shopping trip! ‘Quick ATOP’ she shouted, ‘throw up Dad’s Visa!’ The damsel caught the Visa deftly in her well manicured little paw and the flying carpet ascended gently. ‘Just sit back in your rug and relax’ said the Captain in his melodious voice; ‘the weather report is just fine and we will be cruising at an altitude of 29,000 feet. Luncheon will be served when we have collected Miss Flocke but in the meantime please help yourself to a pot of cream’. The damsel relaxed back in the plush green rug, looking down at the roof light where she could see the Villain gnashing his teeth and waving his huge paw ‘Grrrrhhhh – I’ll get you one day’ he snarled! The damsel felt a little sorry at leaving ATOP behind but she knew that this was what SHE deserved – a wonderful day out and shopping trip and to hell with the calories, she even had a lick at some cream!

It was only then that she took a closer look at the Captain; his fur was such a mix of strange colours – both pale and dark and really rather smudgy looking. Suddenly she remembered that she had seen him before, on a screen saver on a computer (computers becoming more and more used in the Wild West!).

Wild West Heroes (Part III)

As our Heroine reclined on her green rug sipping at a tiny pot of cream, all was not going so well for ATOP and the Dastardly Villain who were still looking at the roof light and the flying carpet which was becoming smaller and smaller before disappearing into the distance. It was true to say that the Villain was now in a FOUL temper – he had been outwitted by the Damsel and a stranger on a flying carpet – most unexpected and now what was he meant to do. ATOP was going to suggest a second or even third breakfast might be in order but decided to keep quiet; things could easily turn against her.

Now was the time for ATOP to use all her powers of deduction, persuasion, tact and wisdom. She could stop the Villain – all by herself – she just needed a cunning plan and she needed to come up with it in double-quick time, too! In the meantime, the Villain walked around and around in a circle and then settled down for a little nap – ATOP saw her chance and ran downstairs, almost silently, glancing back to check that the Villain was not following her.

Quickly she turned on the computer, glancing at the handsome fellow on the screen saver as she did, then after hitting the ANY key several times found the google button! Which search string to use? ‘Stopping Dastardly Villains’ did not yield much. Just then, there was a miaeow outside the back door – yeah, a Young Knight to the Rescue (played by Junior – the young cat who lives somewhere down the road).

‘Dashing Young Knight’ said ATOP, ‘you have no idea how pleased I am to see you! I really need your help to conquer the Villain – we need to come up with a plan ASAP whilst he is asleep and also the Damsel has flown off on a passing flying carpet, would you believe it?’ Well, the Dashing Young Knight was delighted to be part of a PLAN – he lives alone with his humans and is rather envious of the Gang of Three.

‘Well, let’s just have a small snack – it’s never a good idea to come up with a plan on an empty stomach’ said ATOP. ‘Excellent idea’ said the Dashing Young Knight ‘breakfast was hours and hours ago’ – well twenty minutes is a long time to a young cat’s tummy! After their snack break and after they had cleaned up, serious planning was about to commence, when came the sound that they had dreaded – footsteps! The Dark Knight aka Evil Villain was awake – oh big pants!

Wild West Heroes (Part IV)

Whilst ATOP and the Dashing Young Knight were frantically trying to come up with a cunning plan against the Evil Villain, our young and most heart-stoppingly beautiful heroine was in her element. Drifting somewhere over Europe, sipping some cream and then flying down into Nuremburg to collect Miss Flocke. Who was this Miss Flocke and what was this urgent shopping trip!

The Captain’s assistant had also started to prepare the lunch and all looked and smelt sooooo delicious – the Damsel had indeed declared a no diet day! With only the vaguest of bumps, the carpet had landed and Miss Flocke hopped aboard and introduced herself to the Damsel.

The Damsel was at first a little cool with Miss Flocke (it’s a women’s thing – sussing out the competition) but then she warmed to her as Miss Flocke explained that she was moving to the south of France ‘oh la la’ and needed some exquisitely chic outfits to fit right in! On hearing that, the Damsel was right in there with some good ideas and on the way to KaDeWi they became firm friends over a sumptuous lunch with fish, chicken and steak; Miss Damsel did ask for some salad but was told it was ‘off’ today.

Miss Flocke excitedly told the Damsel all her plans for her move South with her Beau, the handsome Russian, and the Damsel sighed, if only she had a beau and if only she was moving to the sunshine – what outfits she would wear, she would be sitting at the helm of a Riva boat with her beau, wearing a little stripey scarf. Miss Flocke bought her suddenly back from her dreams; ‘We are here, come on dreamy girl, time to hit the shops!’.

Miss Flocke and the Damsel had a ball at the shops; Miss Flocke purchased some beautiful outfits, many sun items and wonderful hats whilst the Damsel indulged herself with her favourites, accessories! There were so many bags and boxes that they both became a little tired and had to stop for a little glass of Champagne! During this time, Miss Flocke’s Handy started to ring, ring, ring. First it was the Captain, he had just received take off clearance and then it was Raspi the Russian Beau who was missing Flocke and had misplaced something important and only SHE would be able to find it (well, men are completely useless at finding anything).

Wearily, the girls headed back to the flying carpet where the Captain had laid out the fluffy rugs ready for them to nap on the way home. Kisses and tears and mobile numbers were exchanged at Nuremburg and then the Captain flew off again with our sleepy little heroine back to Chelsea.

Wild West Heroes (Part V)

Whilst the Damsel slept dreamily on her way home, ATOP and the Dashing Young Knight were faced with the dilemma of the Villain. He sauntered into the room, looking at ATOP and the Young Knight with a haughty expression on his fine roman nose; unfortunately this did not have the desired effect and the Young Knight let out an inadvertent snigger. The Villain rose up on his haunches to his full height, which was really quite impressive, and boomed; ‘Do you know who I am and how easy it would be for me to crush you’. The Young Knight was not entirely used to being spoken to like that and decided that he would not put up with it. As he started to draw breath and think up a suitable retort, ATOP decided it was time to step in.

‘Calm down boys and remember that this isn’t really the Wild West; it’s just Mum and Dad’s kitchen in Chelsea and we should all behave or we will be in trouble later and Junior you should go home before you are missed and’, she trailed off suddenly remembering that Gus was still missing. Oh double big pants – how was she going to fix that one – Dad will go really mad and his face will turn red and he will shout, louder than anyone!!!! As ATOP, who had indeed come out of character and was now sensible Sydney again, started to panic she heard cries from upstairs.

‘That’s Gus back!’ she exclaimed as they heard little footsteps and then saw Gus running into the kitchen with her fur billowing all around her, barely able to draw breath and speak. ‘Oh! Oh!’ she managed to squeak.

‘Here, have a drink of water and tell us what happened’, Sydney tried to soothe her and get her to breath deeply. Gus took a deep breath, ‘I have had the most magical day and met the most awesome bears and flew on a carpet and shopped till we dropped and, and‘ – again she stopped as she took in the disbelieving faces around her.

Her face fell a little as she realised that they would never believe her magical adventure, but deep down she knew it was real and she would never forget a moment of it.

All four cats looked a little crestfallen at this stage but once again Sydney took control and tore open several packets of Felix which they all enjoyed, well all except for Gus – well a girl can only eat so much in one day!

Day 27 in Yoghi’s&Giovanna’s life together

Giovanna und Yoghi  leben gleichberechtigt in ihrem wunderschönen Gehege zusammen. Sie sind rücksichtsvoll jeweils dem anderen gegenüber, sie verstehen sich ausgesprochen gut und mögen sich sehr. Sie spielen gemeinsam, manchmal beschäftigen sie sich mit sich selbst, sie suchen aber immer wieder die gemeinsame Nähe.
Giovanna&Yoghi live together as „emancipated“ partners in their nice enclosure. They respect each other, they take care for each other and seem to like each other. They are playing together, sometimes they are occupied with oneself, but they often want to be together.

Da ich den ganzen Tag im TP Hellabrunn war, konnte ich auch heute wieder von unseren Eisbären das Vollprogramm bewundern. Heute war lieber Besuch da, ich konnte einen Teil des Tages mit Jens in Hellabrunn verbringen. Danke, lieber Jens, es war wieder sehr schön mit Dir und den Eisbären.
As I was in Hellabrunn the whole day, I was able to admire the complete polar bear program. Today Jens was in Tierpark as well and we could spend most of the time together with the bears. Thanks, dear Jens, it was a wonderful day.

Spiele im Wasser, Toben, Schaukämpfe, Giovannas Kunstsprünge und Schmusen, diese Szenen habe ich Euch auf Bildern der vorherigen Berichte schon alle gezeigt.
Watergames, showfights, Giovanna’s flying from the rocks and cuddling, these scenarios I have already shown before.

Ich hatte aber heute über den Tag verteilt Gelegenheit, die beiden Eisbärenschönheiten ganz aus der Nähe zu fotografieren. Die Schönheit beider Eisbären ist überwältigend und das möchte ich Euch nicht vorenthalten.
However, today I had the opportunity to see both beauties from very near. Their beauty is overwhelming and this I would like to present you by means of the following pictures.

Der Park ist in unterschiedene Themenwellte aufgeteilt:

The Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen consists of several parts. The biggest and most important part is an animal world. This part is gigantic and can be visited only by the Serengeti bus or own car. We went first by the coach. This was the right decision because the coach driver told a lot about the animals. Unfortunately, it rained all the time, the windows were wet from the outside and foggy from the inside. So some pictures are not sharp. At the end of our visit we have driven through once more by our car. Then we opened the windows for taking the photos, except with the lions and tigers.

The park is split in distinguished theme worlds:

Freigehege für Löwen

Hier lebt eine große Löwen Familie. Der männliche Löwe sieht prächtig aus. Die Busfahrerin erzählte uns, dass der zweite männlicher Löwe wurde kastriert. Danach hat er innerhalb drei Monaten seine Mähne verloren und sieht wie eine Löwin aus. Ich habe kein Bild von ihm gemacht. Ich fand das sehr traurig. Es ist möglich die männlichen Tiere zu sterilisieren.

Here a big lion family lives. The male lion looks splendid. The coach driver told us that the second male lion was castrated. Then he has lost within three months his mane and looks like a lioness. I did not make a picture of him. I found this very sad. It is possibly to sterilise the male animals.

11 LAND DER BENGALEN

Freigehege für Tiger

In Juli 2009 hat der Serengeti Park acht verwahrloste Tiger von einem insolventen Zirkus aus Portugal aufgenommen. Der Zirkus konnte sich die Verpflegung der Tiere nicht mehr leisten. Unter den drei Männchen ist ein Zuchtkater, die anderen beiden sind kastriert.

In July, 2009 Serengeti Park took eight neglected tigers of an insolvent circus from Portugal. The circus could not afford the food of the animals any more. Among three male tigers is a breeding cat, other both are castrated.

12 WEISSE LÖWEN

Freigehege für weiße Löwen.

Die weiße Löwen (die zwei Katzen Brooks geb. 14. 12. 08 und Kotenay geb. 02.01.08 sowie Kater Snoary geb. 17. 05. 08) sind am 14. Januar 2010 in Hodenhagen aus Südafrika angekommen. Wegen Trophäenjägern sind die weißen Löwen fast ausgestorben.

The white lions (two female cats: Brooks, born 14. 12. 08 and Kotenay, born as well as male cat Snoary, born 17. 05. 08) came on the 14th of January, 2010 in Hodenhagen from South Africa. Because of trophy hunters the white lions have almost become extinct.

Weiße Tiger

Der Serengeti-Park hatte 2002 eine Gruppe dieser Tiere vom einem Zirkus übernommen. Nachdem bereits in März zwei kleine Babys geboren wurden, sind dort nun insgesamt elf weiße Tiger zu sehen.

The Serengeti Park in 2002 took over a group of these animals from a circus. After already in March two small babies were born, a total of eleven white tigers are to be seen there now.

Craig Grant bought a tree farm far away from the city and turned it into a sanctuary for all the cats he has rescued.
He lives there with the cats and provides lots of love, care and companionship. Its hard to imagine that once he was not a cat lover and did not want cats until he met his sons cat Pepper. He also got to experience what it is like raising a litter of kittens.

Over that time I learned that every cat had its own unique personality and it wasnt long before the kittens were swinging from my curtains. I didnt care. Something had changed I didnt want to give them up.

The condo life was not easy for the kitties, so Craig found a tree farm and settled down there for his fur babies.
Over the next several months, he rescued more and more homeless and abandoned cats. The number of new residents kept going up, so Craig expanded the sanctuary to make more room for the animals.

The farm was named Caboodle Ranch and is now a permanent home for all the homeless, rescued cats. Each of them has a sad story of their past, but now they are living in heaven.

Cats should be able to roam free, and at Caboodle Ranch, thats what they do.  Craig has built many beautiful cat houses and decorated the place with vibrant colors and tons of liveliness. All the cats are spayed and neutered.

Regenwetter in Berlin, trotzdem machte ich einen kurzen Besuch bei Knut. Er ließ sich nicht vom Wetter abhalten und spielte die ganze Zeit im Wasser. Von Sonntagsruhe bei Knut keine Spur, entweder wurde mit dem Baumstamm oder mit dem Aussidog gespielt.

Man musste sich losreißen, damit man kurz zur Fütterung der großen Eisbären gehen konnte.

Danach gab es eine ausgiebige Frühstückspause in der Waldschänke, drinnen war es kälter als draußen, nur saß man im Trockenen. Es gab heute keinen großen Rundgang, der Regen war halt zu viel. Durchgefroren und durchgenässt bin ich um 12.30 Uhr wieder nach Hause.

Am Samstag hatten wir die Möglichkeit, wieder den Gnadenhof für Bären in Hart/Bad Füssing zu besuchen.  Aufgrund einer Veranstaltung der Gewerkschaft für Tiere waren heute viele Besucher auf dem Gnadenhof. Verena Kaspari (Dipl.Biol.) informierte in einem sehr interessanten, informativen und kurzweiligen Vortrag über Bären allgemein, die Beziehung Mensch und Bär und natürlich über die Bären, die auf dem Gnadenhof leben.
Last Saturday we had the chance to visit the Bears‘ Sanctuary again. Due to a special event many visitors were there. Verena Kaspari (Dipl.Biol.) informed via a very interesting and informative presentation about bears in general, the relationship humans and bears, and of course, about the bears living on the Sanctuary.

Aufgrund der KWM Charity Performance sind dankenswerter Weise etliche Spenden eingegangen. Unser Besuch am Samstag bestätigte uns wieder erneut, dass alles Engagement für den Bären Gnadenhof eine lohnende Investition für eben diese Bären ist. Due to KWM Charity Performance quite many donations have arrived the Sanctuary. Our visit on Saturday confirmed that all engagement is a valuable and worthy investment for these bears. Thanks to you all for your gratefully appreciated support.

Zuerst führte uns unser Weg zu den Bären über die Aussichtsplattform. In diesem Bereich lieferte der Futterwagen (ein vergittertes Fahrzeug, aus dem aus einer Luke Futter auf die Anlage gebracht wird) den Bären ein „Fressen auf Rädern“. Als erste sahen wir Sylvia wieder, die nun im Hauptgehege lebt.
Firstly our way to the bears led to the observation deck. A special car with grids delivered the bears’s food in this area. From a special food loop the food is thrown out. It seems to be “food on wheels”. Sylvia, now being in the main area was the first bear we saw again.

Dann ließ sich Balu sehen, den wir bislang nur von Fotos her kannten. Balu, der auch jetzt auf der Hauptanlage lebt, kann in diesem großen Gehege so weite Strecke zurücklegen, dass er richtig „schlank“ geworden ist.
Then Balu appeared, who we only know from pictures. Balu, also living in this main area, can now move so much that he has lost some weight.

Kurze Zeit später tauchte auch Tibor auf. Tibor und Balu, die zwei unzertrennlichen Bärenfreunde haben es auf der großen Anlage gelernt, ihre eigenen Wege zu gehen. Wenn sie sich begegnen, begrüßen sie sich freundschaftlich, beschäftigen sich ggf. auch kurz miteinander, um dann wieder ihrer eigenen Wege zu gehen.
Some minutes later Tibor came. Tibor and Balu are to bearfriends from a Spanish circus and have now learnt in this main area to walk separate ways. When they meet they welcome each other in a very friendly way, sometimes they are occupied together to then go separate ways again.

Das Fressen auf Rädern beinhaltete heute auch Eisbomben, die den Bären ganz offensichtlich eine große Freude bereitet haben.
Today the meals on wheels included some icebombs, which the brownbears obviously enjoy very much.

Und so freundlich (aber auch wohl neugierig) wurden wir von dem Senior des Bärengnadenhofs begrüßt.
And that’s the friendly (and curious) way the senior from the sanctuary said hello to us.

Zu ihm gesellte sich Franzi (die erste Bewohnerin des Gnadenhofs). Als es dann aber um die Vertilgung der köstlichen Brezn und Brötchen ging, war natürlich jeder Bär darauf bedacht, den größten Anteil abzubekommen.
Soon Franzi (the first inhabitant on the Sanctuary) came along. However, when it came to consume the delicious Brezn and croissants, of course each bear tried to get the biggest portion.

Erfolge, die die Pfleger der Bären verzeichnen können, d.h. das Zeigen von ganz normalem Bärenverhalten  sind das weitgehend eingestellte „Weben“ (Kopf schaukeln) und stereotype Verhalten der Bärinnen Franzi und Suse, das eigenständige Bärenleben der Spanier Tibor und Balu auf der großen Anlage, sowie bei Tibor das Abrinden den Bäume.
The keepers are proud of their success resulting from working with the bears: the weaving (swinging heads) and stereotype attitudes Suse and Franzi showed almost stopped; the independent and separate life of Tibor and Balu since they enjoy the main area and Tibor’s excoriation of trees.

Auf dem Bären Gnadenhof  stehen die Interessen der Bären im absoluten Mittelpunkt. Besucher können die Bären sehen, wenn sie sich sehen lassen. Ob sie sich sehen lassen, entscheiden die Bären !
The absolute target on the Sanctuary are the interests of the bears. Visitors can only see the bears, provided the bears want to be seen. The bears decide themselves, whether they are visible or not !

Wir sind wieder ganz begeistert nachhause gefahren im Wissen, hier leben neun Bären, denen man es ansieht, wie gut es ihnen geht.
Also this time went home with a very positive feeling, knowing that nine bears are happily living on the sanctuary.

Erst kürzlich habe ich hier die bewegende und spannende Geschichte von Tibor & Balu vorgestellt.  Wie Ihr schon wisst, haben sich die beiden Lausbuben-Bären hervorragend auf dem Gnadenhof für Bären in Hart/Bad Füssing eingelebt. Ich habe die Anlage für die Bären als eine sehr gepflegte Einrichtung bei meinen Besuchen kennengelernt. Alles blitzte und glänzte. Jetzt wissen wir auch warum. Die Mitarbeiter des Gnadenhofes hatten bärenstarke “Hilfe”!
Only recently I have told you the touching and also thrilling story of Tibor&Balu. As you already know, the two guys meanwhile feel very much at home on the Bears’s Sactuary in Hart/Bad Füssing. I have seen their enclosure as extremely shiny and very well looked after. Now we know, why, the Gnadenhof personnel had help with bear power!

Verena Kaspari (Dipl.Biol) berichtet, dass Tibor und Balu während der Grundreinigung ordnungsgemäß im Außengehege untergebracht wurden.
Verena Kaspari  (Dipl. Biol.) reports, that Tibor and Balu were in their outdoor facility, according to the rules.

Als es soweit war, auch das Außengehege einer gründlichen Reinigung zu unterziehen, standen Tibor und Balu, die ehemaligen Zirkusbären aus Spanien, schon an den Gitterstäben bereit. Sie fanden es weitaus spannender, beim Hausputz zuzuschauen (oder wollten sie gar helfen?) als sich in ihrer Außenanlage zu vergnügen. Bei einer gründlichen Reinigung darf natürlich Wasser nicht fehlen, und die beiden Bären bekamen davon auch etwas mit. Das gefiel den beiden sehr, und schon bald versuchte der etwas mutigere Tibor den Wasserstrahl zu fangen.
When the time had for the outdoor facilities to undergo a thorough cleaning, Tibor and Balu (the former circus bears from Spain) were already waiting at the grid. They thought it is far more thrilling to watch the cleaning activities than to play in their outdoor facility (or did they want to help?). Water is not missing when cleaning thoroughly und the bears realized that. They liked it very much and soon Tibor, the one with more bravery, tried to catch the water-jet.

Als er recht bald merkte, dass der Wasserstrahl auch einen “Massageeffekt” hatte. Schon bald wandelte sich die Putzaktion in eine Wellness-Aktion für die Bären. Hier muss erwähnt werden, dass Bad Füssing für Wasserbehandlungen sehr bekannt ist!
Very early he had realized, that the jet also had a massage-effect. Soon the cleaning action changed into a wellness action for the bears. Here it has to be pointed out that Bad Füssing is well-known for watertreatment!

Die Bären drehten und wendeten sich, Rücken und Hinterteile wurden hingestreckt, um eine richtig gute Wassermassage zu bekommen. Frau Kaspari erzählt, dass nicht nur die Bären an dieser Aktion Spaß hatten. Wie beneide ich Frau Kaspari und Frau Bletschacher um eine solche Putzaktion. Bei mir sind Putzaktionen weit langweiliger.
The bears twisted and wriggled, backs and boomsies were positioned to get a fairly good massage. Mrs. Kaspari said, it was not only fun for the bears. How much do I envy such a cleaning action. In my house cleaning is much more boring……

Ich bin glücklich darüber, dass die Bären Tibor und Balu nicht nur aus dem Zirkusdienst in Spanien befreit wurden, um ihr Leben auf dem Gnadenhof zu genießen, dass sie auch so viel Lebensfreude und Freude an Spiel und Spaß haben ist eine wundervolle Erfahrung, nicht nur für die Bären…..
I am happy that Tibor and Balu not only have been freed from the Spain circus to enjoy live on the Sanctuary but also have fun and joy playing. This is a wonderful experience, not only for the bears…..
