Tier has yet to finalise a timeline for when the Tier 6 e-scooter or the A300 e-bike might arrive in the UK – but when that happens the current Okai e-scooters will be serviced, spruced up and redistributed to a different market. The aim is that Tier will eventually have Segway and Okai markets.
- But riders won’t really notice such streamlining efforts: if you’re a regular shared e-scooter user you’re probably more concerned with what the Tier 6 is like to ride.
- And on that count, the C1 features some notable updates.
- Does it offer any more power? Absolutely not: the Department for Transport rules on rental e-scooters are very tight, so the Tier 6 has the same 350W maximum output as its predecessor.
The top speed is also limited depending on local rules, so in the that would mean an absolute maximum of 15.5mph but less in some markets. Transport for London, for example, limits rental scooter to 12.5mph. We were unable to test the system fully, but it was easy to see and intuitive. There’s also a new toggle control for the indicator, which replaces the two buttons featured on the pervious machine. That might sound an incredible minor change, but it is far more intuitive to use, both in terms of easily selecting which indicator you want to activate, and in making it easy to turn them off. There’s also a new bag hook, which is a minor addition but will make it easier to take an e-scooter back from the shops if you’ve popped out for supplies. The other notable change is that all the key touchpoints – the throttle, indicators, kick stand and so on – are all finished in bright orange, making them really easy to spot on the green Tier machines. Where can I buy, sorry, rent one? You can’t in the UK just yet. But should you find yourself in a city in Austria, Germany, Hungary or Sweden with the Tier 6 currently in operation we’d certainly recommend an outing. As noted, we’re waiting to hear exactly when Tier might roll out the new machine here, and in which cities. Let’s be honest: if you’re going to rent an e-scooter, you’ll like take whichever machine you can find nearby. But from our brief outing, the Tier 6 will be a welcome upgrade when it arrives here. While it doesn’t reinvent the e-scooter, it feels more stable and confidence-inspiring to ride, and is also easier and more intuitive to use.

The new venture was briefly by local German blog Gruenderzene, whilst I’ve heard a few more details from my own sources in the German city and from a number of VCs across Europe. How heavy are tier scooters?
Representatives from Sight Loss Councils attended e-scooter operator TIER’s official UK launch today, where it unveiled its safest e-scooter ever built. Engagement Manager Iain Mitchell pressed the CEO of TIER, Lawrence Leuschner, on whether TIER would commit to installing an acoustic vehicle alert system (AVA) to provide warning to blind and partially sighted pedestrians.

Iain said: “SLCs have been raising awareness of this issue as they can travel at speeds of 15kmph, while weighing up to 40kgs. TIER e-scooters are 30kg. Crashes at this speed and weight pose significant risks to riders and pedestrians. “Blind and partially sighted pedestrians use mobility aids and sound to navigate the built environment.
Some partially sighted people do not use a cane, so it may not be obvious to riders that pedestrians are visually impaired. The introduction of silent, heavy and fast vehicles represents a real danger and creates understandable fears among visually impaired people. “So the commitment from TIER’s CEO that they will introduce an AVA is welcome news”.

The Sixties 300i draws power from a 278.8 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that belts out 18.7 horsepower at 6,500 rpm, along with 22 Nm of peak torque which is available at 6,000 rpm. The transmission duties are handled by an automatic gearbox.
The Sixties 300i is available in three colours – White, Light Blue and Grey, all in matte finish. The retro scooter is priced at Rs 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Keeway Vieste 300 The Keeway Vieste 300 was launched alongside the aforementioned Sixties 300i at the same price of Rs 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom). As against the retro styling theme of the Sixties 300i, the Vieste 300 is a true maxi-scooter.
The Vieste 300 is offered with the same 278.8 cc engine as the Sixties 300i, putting out 18.7 hp and 22 Nm. Keeway being Benelli’s sister brand, the Vieste 300 and Sixties 300i are both retailed through the Benelli dealerships in India. The maxi scooter is also available with three colour options like its sibling, namely Matte Blue, Matte White and Matte Black.
Vespa Elegante 150 FL The Elegante 150 FL is Vespa’s flagship offering in India. It gets a 150 cc motor that is good for 10.47 PS of power at 7000 rpm and 10.6 Nm of peak torque at 5500 rpm. The scooter is currently available in a single variant which retails at Rs 1.57 lakh (ex-showroom). It gets a single disc brake up front, and a drum brake at the back with single-channel ABS.
The equipment on offer includes a split-seat, alloy wheels, chrome mirror caps, as well as a fly screen. E-scooter startup Tier raises $250 million round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 Berlin-based micromobility startup has raised a significant Series C round of $250 million. SoftBank Vision Fund 2 is leading the round, which proves that the Vision Fund team is still focused on high-risk, high-potential bets.
