After the snow games it’s nice to travel to the Napland!

20.3.2020 – Photos by Anna Novikova and Oksana Kalinina

Unlike many other places Novosibirsk has had – and is still having – a real Winter with lots of snow. I guess many polar bears are a bit envious to our white fluffy friends in this zoo.

Shauna is awake and ready for a new day.

Nordi is already waiting for his sister for some snowy games.

Come on, Sis! We must enjoy the snow as long as we can!

Oh bear, this is sooooo fun! We wish we could send some white stuff to our friends who haven’t had a chance to enjoy snow.

Digging caves and tunnels is very good motion and keeps us in good shape.

Who knows – maybe we’ll find a treasure here ….

I think we did hide some toys here before the snow fell.

Well, we don’t care about treasures – we have each other!

Gerda has time for a pawicure ….

… before it’s the feeding time. Gerda’s restaurant is always open for her hungry twins.

Napping and sleeping

Hey, shall we travel to the Napland?

Hmm, it looks like you’re already travelling! 🙂

Side by side

Do you think we should join our mama?

Where is she?

Gerda wasn’t far away so Nordi joined her ….

… and after a while even Shauna found a nice place close to her brother and mama.

These cuties made of snow welcome the visitors to the Novosibirsk Zoo. Thank you for watching – we’ll be back soon!

Thanks you very much, dear MERVI – Without you we wouldn’t even know a tiny bit of this gorgeous and lovable polar bear family in NOVOSIBIRSK. And thanks to all the photographers that are confiding their precious photos of GERDA, SHAUNA, NORDI a n d KAI to MERVI and consequently also to all us ‘KWM-readers and -watchers!

No matter who made the fourth shot from above and/or the fourth and fifth from below ( ANNA Novikova OR OKSANA Kalinina), they are my today’s favorites.

  2. Dear Anna, Oksana and Mervi
What a wonderful story and photos. In these dark days when I cannot visit Polar Bears, Gerda, Shauna and Nordi have become a family that keeps me warm despite the snow in Novosibirsk.

  4. Dear Oksana and Anna, dear Mervi!
Thank you for the pictures of Shauna, Nordi and Gerda. They had very long winter with a lot of snow. Now they will be glad about the Spring with the fresh water in the pool.

  5. Dear Mervi, Anna and Oksana!
To watch this wonderful polar bear family having fun and then relaxing in the snow is the right thing to cool down in these times of trouble.
You took gorgeous photos of them and it is a delight to see them doing well.
I found it impossible to choose a favourite since I loved all of them.
Thank you so much for sharing them with us!

Mervi, as always you found the right words for the subtitles. They are the cherry on the cake.

  6. Fein sind die BÀrchen wieder, dankeschön!

    LG Brigitte

  8. Dear Anna, Oksana and Mervi, well this is what I call real Winter time: snow snow snow!
And luckily, the polar bears do have their snow. It is soo funny to see them playing together, but my absolute favorite pic is the one of them together (taken from their back). Of course, the other pics of them, playing together, drinking together and sleeping close to mamma together are also marvelleous, but that one pic is a very special one.
