On the New Year’s Eve the polar bear baby was one month old – or rather young. The first critical weeks have now passed and we can take a little sigh of relief although we know that unexpected things can still happen, Pernilla Thalin says. However, we are optimistic!

Our female polar bear Ewa has really proved a very good motherhood during the first month. She’s incredibly patiently lying down and taking care of her tiny baby. The cubbie is now more and more active. Already after a few days after it’s birth we could see the baby seems to be strong and has already tried to crawl around a little.

Last Winter Ewa could take a nap in the snow but later this year she’ll be busy keeping an eye on her baby. 🙂

Our polar bear baby is lucky having a well nourished mother. For the cubs born in the wild the life is much tougher. Ewa’s baby is eating well at mama’s milk bar and it’s gaining weight every day now.

Knuti’s Weekly wishes Ewa, Wilbär, Hope and the little baby bear a very happy new year! Of course, we wish the same to Pernilla, all the keepers and all the animals in Orsa.
