A visit in the Dierenrijk Amersfoort in Netherlands

26.5.2021 – Photos by Nel Hoekstra

Just like most zoos even the Dierenrijk Amersfoort has been closed due to the covid-19. When the zoo finally could open the gates again our friend Nel was one of the first visitors.

Of course, the visitors have to follow and respect the restrictions before and during a visit in the park.

Baby elephant Yindi welcomed the visitors waving his snout. 🙂

Baby elephant Yindi

This Zebra was curiously watching the two legged creatures on the other side of the fence.

A meerkat mama presented her babies.

Am I cute or am I cute?

There are about 1500 animals in this park. The owl represents the feathered species.

The wolf had a nice day in the sunshine.

It looks like this sweetie had an ‘aha experience’. 🙂

The lion family has two cubs

Hmm, is this a duetto for two cats – or maybe it’s a lesson in growling?

I’m hungry!

Zuna and Sifra are waiting for something eatable ….

…. and their waiting was rewarded!

The piece of meat is almost as big as the cubbie but if the teeth are as impressive as the clows it should be no challenge!

This photo must melt ice bergs!

Dear Nel! Thank you so much for these fantastic photos!

  6. Dear Nel

    The lion cubs are adorable!
Your elephant child looks very different from ours. Only one should say that, all babies look the same 🙂
The tank rhinoceros bull Puri lives with you in the zoo. Puri was born in Munich. Is he still there and if so, how is he?
Thank you for your wonderful pictures!!
