The keepers in the Novosibirsk Zoo certainly know how to keep their beloved polar bears happy. This time Gerda and Kai had  some very special enrichment.

Good morning, dear! Let’s see what the keepers have left for us today!

There were carots leading the way to ….

…. to something that looks like frozen meat loaf ….

… or is it bread?

The biggest surprise was to find fish in the pool! Wow, what a catch!

Fishing is so fun!

Who needs Michelin restaurants when we have yammy fish in our own pool?

Veggies and fish make a very yammy combination.

The big paws are very ‘handy’ when you eat fish! čÖé

Of course, it’s good to have sharp teeth as well.

Gerda seems to be very satisfied with today’s catering. čÖé

The snow has melted away but there’s an ‘arctic corner’ where Gerda and Kai can chill when they want to feel something cool under their paws. What a great place to chill after a fishing tour!

This is life!!! It’s the Summer season but we can have a touch of Winter even now. What a great idea of our keepers to let us have this cool corner.

Gerda is patiently waiting for her turn to roll in the white stuff.

This feels sooooo goooood!

Kai, don’t you think it’s my turn now?

Dear Gerda, give me just a couple of more minutes, please!

Finally even Gerda was allowed to enjoy the snow.

She looks like a young cubbie in this photo. How cute!

Thank you for watching! We’ll be back soon! – Have a nice weekend!

The snow corner is a lovely idea.
We all learn as children that Polar Bears eat seals
and fish, but it is always wonderful to see how much carrots

  3. Den B├Ąren in Novosibirsk fehlt es an nichts.
    Ausgewogene Nahrung, sogar lebender Fisch
und auch im Sommer Schnee – was will man mehr.
