Yorkshire – Agile Hamish, multi coloured Luka and well filled Sisu

19.7.2021 – Photos by Sheila Baker

This morning Hamish was up early welcoming the first visitors to the park. He had prepared a nice programme for his fans. What could it be but a great success!

Hi there! Are you ready for some musical entertainment? Some humans play air guitar but I play air piano!

Eine kleine Morgenmusik 🙂

After the music hour it was time to get physical. 🙂

Hamish is the youngest of the bachelor quartet in the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and he’s, of course, very agile. However, the agility shouldn’t be taken for granted so Hamish does his yoga exercises very often.

You must admit I’m very agile!

A nice bath is needed after all activities.

My ‘teddybear’ hasn’t got fur but it’s a good friend anyway!

Luka likes to change the colour of his fur. Maybe we could call the photos ’50 shades of white’? 🙂

A swim in the lake immediately changed the colour of Luka’s fur.

Hihihii …. I’m like a chameleon! Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon …. do you remember that song by Boy George?

Sisu always enjoys a good meal ….

…. and he certainly looks well nourished.

Mind you, I’m not fat! I’m only well filled!

Checking if there’s a place for him in the bedroom.

The ‘nest’ looks empty although it’s possible Nobby’s hiding there. 🙂

That’s all for now but hopefully we’ll be back soon with photos even of Nobby! 🙂

  1. Dear Sheila and Mervi
Great to see another report with your pictures and words from
    Doncaster’s big four Polar Bears.
Hamish is a real character and made an impact ever since he first
walked out with Victoria at the HWP.
Luka is finding it hard to cope without a female. But he is certainly better off than he was
    in Wuppertal.

  2. Thank you very much dear Mervi and Sheila.
Best wishes to Hamish, Luka, SIsu and Nobby.

  3. Dear Sheila, dear Mervi!
Thank you for the wonderful pictures and a nice story. The four bears are doing very well.

  4. Dear Sheila and Mervi!
Thanks for the great photos of the Yorkshire Bachelors!
My favourites are the pics of Hamish. He looks wonderful and has grown into a very handsome young male.
I´m sorry but I think Sisu is a bit too “well filled”. Perhaps he should join the yoga lessons of Hamish?
Luka seems to be enjoying his new surroundings and the opportunity to change his fur colour at any time.
Whatever, it is a pleasure to see these guys doing so well.

  5. Liebe Mervi,

Sheila, thank you so much for your beautiful photos of the bear gang in Yorkshire!

  6. It’s always great to spend time with the Yorkshire boys. Great photos. They all look so good. In these times when it is hard to visit, it’s nice to have a KW visit to YWP.

  7. Dear Sheila and dear Mervi

I love the very entertaining posts from the YWP!!

Hamish does yoga. This is good for him and his agility. T
he splashing around in the water afterwards really deserved it.

Lukas grooming is well thought out. Mud packs are very healthy.

Sisu enjoys his hearty breakfast. A bear man can have a few pounds too much.

I look forward to news from Nobby!
