Novosibirsk Zoo’s 74th Anniversary

On the 28th of August the Novosibirsk Zoo celebrated it’s 74 year anniversary so the keepers had arranged a nice surprise for the polar bears Gerda and Kai in their enclosure.

Unfortunately the sweet couple had to be separated because Gerda has started growling at Kai telling him he’s not welcome to stay with her – not for the time being anyway. That’s why only Gerda could enjoy the surprise.

Here Gerda is sleeping having hopefully sweet dreams before entering the enclosure.

Oh bear! What’s going on here?

So many yammy things all around! Where do I start?

74 years!!! Quite respectable.

The letters look very nice ….

…. but I just have to taste them!

A beautiful heart – almost too beautiful to be eaten but I’m hungry!

Now my belly is well filled!

Happy anniversary to you Novosibirsk Zoo! Now it’s time for a nap. I don’t think I have to eat more today. 🙂

While Gerda was having a party Kai was wondering why he didn’t get anything.

OK, I know I have many toys but I would have liked the yammy eatable things, too. I don’t understand why Gerda is angry at me because I’m a gentle and charming polar bear male!!

Oh well, I play with my toys but it’s difficult to choose.

Maybe yellow is the colour of today …

Let’s hope even Kai got his fair share of the eatable treats even though we can’t see any photos.

Again I want to present some cute inhabitants in the Novosibirsk Zoo.

You’ve already met Mr Sam in a previous report. I wonder what made him so tired.

Beautiful Gerda wants to be for herself now. Is this a sign that she’s carrying a secret ….

Thank you for watching! We’ll be back soon!

  1. Mervi, Gerda hat Kopfweh!
Da weiß auch ein Eisbärmann, was das für ihn bedeutet….

  2. Dear Anna, Oksana and Mervi!
Gerda`s enclosure was decorated very nice. It is sad, that Kai did not get some yummy treats.
Gerda looks beautiful and now she wants to stay alone. I hope Kai will get more attention from the keepers now.
    Hugs
    Ludmila

  3. Ich freu mich wieder über die zwei Guten und hoffe auch sehr, dass Kai noch was vom leckeren Catering abbekam!

    LG Brigitte.

  4. Dear Anna, Oksana and Mervi
Poor Kai is getting the warning he would get in the wild
from Gerda that she wants to be alone again.
But at least in Novosibirsk Zoo he will get looked after by
    kind keepers.

  5. Dear Anna, Oksana and Mervi!
    Thanks for the update!
Congratulations to the Zoo Noosibirsk for it´s 74th anniversary!
Hopefully Gerda didn’t get a tummy ache after eating all treats by herself!
Poor Kai, but maybe something was left over for him.

    Hugs
    Anke

  6. Thank you very much dear Mervi, Anna and Oksana.
Best wishes to Kai and Gerda.
Happy anniversary to the Novosibirsk Zoo.

  7. Dear Anna, Oksana and Mervi

What a nice surprise for the 74th birthday of the zoo.
Thanks for the nice pictures. Even though Gerda now wants to be alone again doesn’t mean that her hunger is gone too.
Kai does well to stay away from his partner.
Thanks for the update with the many wonderful pictures!

    Hugs,
    Anita
