ORSA – HOPE HAS GIVEN BIRTH TO TWO CUBS!

On the 30 November the keepers came to Hope’s den to do the routine morning tasks. They were surprised to hear the same kind of screaming they heard a year ago when Miki was born. Via webcams they could see that Hope had given birth to two cubbies!

On the 2nd of May 2018 Hope could Wilbär ‘nose to nose’ or maybe ‘nose to boomsie’ for the first time. And now they are parents!!

We are so happy about Miki (who has her 1st birthday today) and when Hope began to show same kind of behavior as Ewa last year we had a little hunch of what might happen, the park director Pernilla Thalin says.

Hope is staying in another den than Ewa did and she’s lying in a corner where we can’t see her so well but the ‘cub music’ told us there might be two cubs. This was later confirmed by a video film where Hope is nursing two babies.

The staff in the park is, of course, following the family all the time but so far everything seems to be going well. All precautions have been taken to quarantee that Hope gets the peace and quiet she and her babies need. She’s a first time mama but is already showing she’s ready for the motherhood.

We are a bit nervous because we can’t see Hope so well in our cameras so we must rely on the sounds we hear from the den, says Pernilla.

  4. Dear Mervi!
Wow, what exciting news! “Ick freu’ ma!”
Congratulations to the Orsa Predator Centre and the happy parents Hope and Wilbär.
I wish Hope and her cubs all the best and that they get through their first weeks well!
After waiting a long time for Wilbär and Ewa to have an offspring, now, almost four years after Hope’s arrival, it’s one after the other……
I am curious to see how this unusual patchwork family will continue and whether the little ones will be able to play together later.

    Hugs
    Anke

  5. Dear Mervi
Flocke is such a great mum that we can be sure that Hope will have a good start with her Two.

  6. Liebe Mervi,

    Monika

  8. So süsse Neuigkeiten! Alles, alles Gute für Hope und ihre Kleinen.

    Liebe Grüße,Erika
