Easter with mixed feelings

I have always loved to make an Easter Special for this magazine but this year I can’t feel the same pleasure knowing how people in Ukraine are suffering. A cruel tyrant has attacked their beautiful country destroying cities and villages and killing innocent people.

Even animals – both pets and animals in the zoos and in the wild – are suffering and/or being killed. I’m deeply touched watching photos with people carrying their pets. I’m glad that many countries welcome even pets as ‘refugees’. Many zoo keepers have stayed with their animals despite the big risk for their lives. They are true heroes. All Ukrainians are heroes of today!

However, we mustn’t let the Devil in Kremlin dictate how we must live so I have made some Easter collages even this year. You don’t see only Easter bunnies but even doves of peace.

Even this year I want to present Easter cards with young polar bears.

I hope these collages will bring you some light in the dark current situation in the world.

Letting our ‘inner child’ out occasionally is balm to our souls!

I send my special greetings to Orsa and hope Ewa, Miki, Hope, Noori and Nanook can stay in their wonderful home!

Magic things can happen ….. how I wish the magic would bring peace in the world!

This is the first Easter for Skadi and Kaja in Rostock ….

… and even for Noori and Nanook in Orsa.

May the dove of peace be succesful!

This is not a merry story but I wish all the readers and reporters of this magazine a happy Easter time.

  1. Dear Mervi,

I wish nothing more than that the dove would bring peace overnight, but unfortunately it does not look like it.

  6. Dear Mervi,

  9. Easter has long been a sign of peace for me. Going to the Easter march is part of that for me.
Now everything is different. War is here and it is not far away.
Let us hope that this war will soon be over.
In this spirit, Happy Easter also to all the displaced people and those who are courageously resisting in Ukraine and to all the people who still have to hold out in Ukraine.

Thank you, dear Mervi, for the enchanting collages.

    Warm greetings,
