27.4.2022 – Photos by Sheila and Philip Baker

The Spring has come to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. There have been some changes concerning the polar bear family but everything’s OK with our beloved bear friends.

Flocke’s kids seem to be taking the separation from their mama well. They can still see Flocke on the other side of a fence.

Flocke seems to be keeping an eye on her kids. She has done a good job raising the trio so she doesn’t have to worry.

Indiana and Yuma may occasionally miss Flocke but they still have each other ….

… and, of course, they have a lovely sister, too!

Maybe they’ve heard the result of the French president election and wanted to sing the Marseilleise …. 🙂 As you know they have a French connection. 🙂

Tala has been an independent polar bear girl from the beginning and knows how to keep herself occupied and happy.

Tala smelling the scent of the grass and the flowers.

Even a ‘turbo girl’ needs a rest now and then. 🙂

Do you want to hear a real lion roar? OK, here you are! Enjoy!

Thank you for the applause! Please, notice how nicely I say ‘thank you’!

A small cutie – a big heart breaker!

Friends across borders – How I wish the two legged creatures would be like these two ….

Hello nice to see you again

The lovely binturong is making him/herself presentable.

Luka enjoys a bath although it will ruin his cappuccino fur. White fur is soooo yesterday. 🙂

Luka is doing the ‘Nobby’ 🙂

Hamish decided to join the navy ….

He’s so happy with the canue and treats it as if  it’s a teddybear.

Sisu found a red treasure in the water.

He wanted to be sure nobody takes it away. What could be a better hiding place than between his big paws. I wouldn’t even dream of a trying …. 🙂

The most nobbyish Nobby in the world! 🙂 This guy certainly knows how to relax!

Nobby and Sisu in the Napland. Sisu is keeping his treasure as a pillow.

Dear Sheila and Philip! Thank you so much for these fantastic photos of our four legged friends!

  1. Es ist schön zu sehen was für ein tolles Leben die Eisbaerencommuniy und die anderen Tiere dort haben.
    Danke für die wunderbaren Bilder.

    Liebe Grüße, Erika

  2. Dear Sheila, Philip and Mervi,

how nice to see that the bear gang is doing so well!
The photos with the kids and their mother at the fence touch me very much.
Maybe they do miss cuddling with her more than we think?

Mervi, the text about the presidential election in France is great, that’s exactly the joy of the bears!
The boys are also doing great and Hamisch loves his board more than anything.
Well roared lion and giraffes seem to kiss well.

Thank you very much and best regards to all three of you!

  3. Dear Sheila, Philip and Mervi
It is already three weeks since I visited YWP and I still have not sorted out a report so I am full of admiration for yours here.
The big change since I was there is that Flocke has separated from her cubs. This is never easy in a zoo since in the wild the mother just leaves them across the ice.

  4. Dear Sheila, Mervi and Philip!
Thank you for these great pictures from the YWP.
Flocke and her kids can’t quite let go of each other yet. The scenes at the fence seem to show that. It looks like Flocke is convincing herself that everything is fine with her children. Does she miss them?
I love the picture of Tala rolling in the grass.

But all the other photos are great too: the proud roaring lion, the cute little monkey, the giraffe and the antelope, bonded in friendship, the freaky binturong and all the pictures of the polar bear males Luka, Hamish, Sisu and Nobby, whether they are playing or sinking into the land of dreams.

It’s wonderful to see animals that are doing well!
Mervi, your captions are affectionate and to the point! Thank you so much!

  5. Dear Mervi, Sheila and Philip!
Thank you for the news from YWP. Flocke did a great job with her kids. I hope they all will live in the good zoos.

  6. dear Sheila and dear Philip,
thank you so much for all these lovely pictures, I am happy to see the wonderful animals having a good time in this cosy wildlife park.
dear Mervi thank you for sharing with us
dear greetings and good wishes to all

  7. Dear Sheila and dear Philip,

it’s nice to see that Flake’s kids have overcome the separation.
I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next with the 4 bears.
Luka is doing the “Nobby” is a simply wonderful neologism.
    I had to laugh heartily.

Thank you for your adorable pictures!!
