Yorkshire – Indiana, Yuma and Tala on their own

25.5.2022 – Photos by Sheila and Philip Baker

Flocke is enjoying her well deserved vacation from cub raising and her kids Indiana, Yuma and Tala are coping with the separation from mama  very well.

The trio is keeping themselves busy playing and fooling around. 🙂 I’m not sure who’s who in the following photos but I think they are Indy or Yuma.

There are always treasures to be found.

Is there something interesting?

Oh yes, the rangers (keepers) never stop surprising us!

This guy is amazingly white! Usually the kids prefer the muddy look. 🙂

Playing in the water keeps the furs white – at least for a while.

Hello dear readers of this magazine! I’m sure you are all impressed by how our mama raised us to be wonderful teenagers.

IndyOr Yuma

Indy and Yuma love to wrestle but in a gentlebear kind manner.

Enough of wrestling. How about a dancing lesson?

Hmmm, who’s going to lead ….

Even sister Tala joins her brothers every now and then. She’s the smallest of the trio but she never hesitates to challenge her bigger brothers.

When Indy and Yuma often play together Tala is entertaining herself without company.

Presenting the new toy for the visitors.

The young lady is a very independant polar bear girl. Again we can see that the female is the one with the trousers on! 🙂

I love this photo of Tala!

Even a hurricane has to calm down occasionally.

The feathered body guards – I mean bear guards are making sure Tala has a safe trip to the Napland.

I wonder what she was dreaming of? A salmon for your dreams! 🙂

Sometimes a girl needs some privacy so dear paparazzi, why don’t you go and have a nice cup of tea!

  1. Dear Scheila, Mervi and Philip!
Thank you very much for the news from the JWP.
It’s nice to know that Indiana, Yuma and Tala cope with the new situation and do not cry for their mother. Flocke has done a great job with raising her kids. I love the pictures of the two bears playing together in the water.

  2. Thank you very much dear Mervi, Sheila and Philip.
Best wishes to Flocke, Tala, Yuma and Indiana.

  3. Dear Sheila
    dear Philip
    dear Mervi,

these photos clearly show how well the trio is doing, now without their mother Flocke.
As with human children, in a sibling community often two are especially
close together and the third more of a loner or as you also say, the sandwich child.

All three are beautiful and Flocke is now also happy to have a little more peace and quiet.
Thanks for your great photos and to you Mervi for editing.

    Best wishes!

    Liebe Sheila,
    lieber Philip
    liebe Mervi,

  4. Dear Sheila, Philip and Mervi
Thank you for such beautiful pictures of Flocke’s family making their way without her.

  5. Dear Sheila, dear Philip and dear Mervi!
It is good to know that Flocke’s triplets coped well with the separation from their mother. Flocke truly deserves some rest and relaxation now, after she has raised three children brilliantly.
The photos are great, the cubs look lovely!

I like the pictures of the bear brothers playing, fighting or dancing with each other the best and the little photo story with Tala at the end: she gets out of the bath, shakes the water out of her fur, yawns profusely and falls asleep relaxed. A sleeping beauty!
Thank you so much for sharing!

  6. Dear Scheila and Philip and dear Mervi!

I always find your reports very entertaining.
For one, the images are simple.
On the other hand, I always find the words to the pictures very nice and I often have to laugh.
I am very happy that the three have overcome the separation from mom. Nice that Flocke enjoys being alone.

  7. Hello Mervi,
What a lovely little story you have put together to accompany the beautiful photo’s provided by Shiela & Philip. Your reports are always a pleasure to read and they always make me smile! ? Flocke and her 3 cubs are all doing amazingly well since they were separated only a few weeks ago. Tala remains the star of the show, she is so full of energy, playful and never disappoints. Hopefully, I may get to meet her in person tomorrow as I am going to the YWP on a Polar Bear Experience to feed the bears! ?
    Kind Regards
    Pat w.

  8. Hello Pat!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m glad you like my way of presenting Sheila’s and Philip’s fantastic photos.

    Hugs from Mervi
