Unbelievable but true! Today Knutitours celebrates it’s 10th anniversary! When I started this tour I never thought I would be writing this. I never believed Knutitours would still be going strong after all these years.

There have been ups and downs during the long journey – from small mishaps to a total crash but like the bird Fenix Knutitours has always arised from the ashes.

Vienna is fine. She still spends lots of time in her water moat, enjoying swimming and colder temperatures.

Our male Moni has just turned 31 and because of health issues due to his respectable age, our vet decided not to move him to the enclosure currently occupied by Vienna as it is usually the case at this time of the year.

This Easter should have been a joyful Easter in Hellabrunn with many visitors who wanted to meet Giovanna’s and Yoghi’s lovely daughter Quintana. The happy expectations turned into deepest mourning when our dear Yoghi had to cross the Rainbow Bridge.

The sad news chocked us all. It all happened so suddenly ….. it’s still hard to believe our dear bear is gone.

Yes, it all started with a love affair. I guess I don’t have to tell you more about it …. Nine years is a respectable age for a blog and, naturally, I’m both proud and happy about our long journey together.

Even though our beloved Knut isn’t with us anymore he’s still our guiding star. That’s why this magazine will never change it’s name and that’s why Knutitours will always – as long as it exists – be Knutitours.

In the dens behind the rockface in the Tierpark in East Berlin all was still, except for the gentle breathing of three Polar Bears. The silence was broken by the squeal of new life. This was followed soon after by the squeal of a second baby, no larger than a human hand.

Human ears would not have been able to follow the conversation that followed.
