Auch dieses Projekt können wir als erfolgreich bezeichnen. Patenschaften sind niemals ausverkauft, aber alle bärigen Waren haben den Besitzer gewechselt. Euch allen herzlichsten Dank. Am 7.12. abends werden die Adoptiv Bären der Hauner’schen Kinderklinik übergeben.

Heute war es endlich soweit; wir durften wieder auf dem Gnadenhof für Bären in Hart/Bad Füssing die Bären besuchen. Dieses Mal hatten wir das Glück und die große Ehre, acht von den zehn dort lebenden Bären aus der Nähe zu sehen. Silvia war schon in Winterruhe.
This time we were lucky and we had the great honour to meet eight of the ten bears. Silvia is already hibernating.

Giovanna ist heute in ihrem Haus geblieben. Herr Kern und Frau Köhler haben uns versichert, dass Giovanna ganz entspannt in ihrer Höhle ist und dass es ihr sehr gut geht.
Auch Yoghi machte einen ganz entspannten Eindruck. Wir hatten die Möglichkeit, ihn zu einem kleinen Interview zu bewegen.
Giovanna stayed in her house all day today. Mr. Kern and Mrs. Köhler reassured that Giovanna is very relaxed in her house and that she is well.

It was LuLu time again! Jane Ann was surprised to see us back. The cubbie was in high spirits! She was running around her enclosure like a whirlwind! I asked Jane Ann what she fed her for breakfast. She laughed and said she’s like this in the mornings.

Driving down to Lou-vul we were full of anticipation. Arriving in town and finding the zoo right off made it hard to wait for the morning! Of course, Tuesday morning we were at the zoo as it opened. It was just a few minutes away from our hotel! We found our way to Glacier Run, rounded a corner–and there she was!

This year continues to bring us sad news: The bear “born on the internet” has been shot and killed by a hunter in Minnesota, US.
Hope was recognised internationally after her birth was filmed and broadcast live via a webcam in 2010. The black bear and her mother Lily were subjects of a study by US biologist Dr Lynn Rogers and featured in the BBC documentary The Bear Family and Me.

Dear friends, this week is a week for remembering…. Six months have gone since our beloved Knuti had to leave us and on the 22nd it will be three years since Thomas Dörflein went away. Liebe Freunde, diese Woche ist eine Woche des Erinnerns…. Sechs Monate sind vergangen, seit uns unser geliebter Knuti verlassen musste, und am 22. ist es drei Jahre her, dass Thomas Dörflein von uns ging.

Kati saß lange in der Höhle und Troll davor. Dann ging Kati ein paar Schritte aus der Höhle raus. Es gab ein Brummen und Maul aufreißen. Kati blieb stehen! Es folgte ein Sekunden dauerndes anschauen mit geschlossenen Maul und ohne brummen.

In den letzten Tagen haben wir ja den Eisbären-Krimi im Zoo am PC verfolgen können. Heute wollte ich mich vor Ort informieren und bin in den Zoo gefahren. Ich kam gegen 10.00 Uhr dort an. Ich möchte mich nicht lange mit der Vorrede aufhalten, was ich noch gesehen habe, sondern gleich zu dem kommen, was uns am meisten interessiert: Die Eisbären.
