Terve! Hello! Dear friends, this time I want to present two new sporting disciplines for you. But before I do that I have some information about my future. The Finnish speakers will find the same information in the Ranua Zoo’s latest newsletter.
I’m a 1½ year old teenager now. In the wild mama polar bears start weaning their cubs when they are about 2 years old. However, I’m allowed to stay with my mama maybe one more year. When mama says it’s time for me too leave the nest I can just ‘fly’ to the neighbouring enclosure where my papa used to live.
I know there are many polar bear cubs waiting for a new home. What luck there’s no hurry in my case so my zoo can consider all possibilities very thoroughly. If you’re wondering about mama’s new boyfriend I don’t know when and if there’s a new male coming. Maybe mama wants some time for herself after raising me ….
I hope I can stay in Europe – maybe in Germany? I also hope I could live together with a girl whose name begins with the letter ‘Q’! Oh well, a bear boy is allowed to have dreams …..
Now it’s time for me to show you my new toy!
I must throw it into the water first.
Have you ever seen shot put in the water before?
Let me show you my brilliant technics. This is a two paw variant.
I would like to see the big human athlets to put the shot backwards! I’m sure I would beat them anytime! 🙂
I like the colour of my shot! I’m sure the lilac colour will give me extra energy, too!
Juggling is good training!
Catching it with two paws is very elegant ….
…. but my one paw technics isn’t so bad either.
I’ve been even practicing back stroke with the shot.
This discipline is very relaxing!

Now I’m going to enjoy the ice bomb my keepers have prepared for mama and me. We get our food frozen during the hot days. A very good idea don’t you agree?
Thank you for watching! I hope to be back soon with more news!
